HELLO YOU BABES.

You guessed it.. another long one, lol. 5 different ways to start a song!

This is the third ‘behind the tunes’ video, a little series I’m hoping to develop here on the Secret Demo Club! Watch the first couple mins of the vid if you’d like to hear me explain this properly, but in short I want to focus in on & chat about different aspects of music on both the creative & business side in an attempt to DE-MYSTIFY this whole MUSIK thing.

if you missed them before, here are the previous videos in this little ‘series’ of sorts..

  1. about management and what the heck a manager does: https://youtu.be/QAjVbGFxCyE
  2. about my songwriting journey: https://youtu.be/Adbgcm01W3Y

..I know these kind of vids aren’t for everyone, but hopefully someone will get something good from it or find it all a bit interesting! I’ve kept your feedback from the last time but again if anyone has any particular part of music they’d like me to do a ‘behind the tunes’ video on, leave me a comment and let ur gurl know. :)

Have the best weekend ever lads.

this was faaaascinating to watch honestly. i don't think i'd call myself an artist by any stretch but it's interesting and cool to watch someone as down to earth as you talk about an industry that i'd kill to be a part of someday. d'you think you could add production/post production to your list of things to talk about in these videos?? i'm trying to dip my toes in but it's so hard to find tutorials or information that don't go waaaay over my head in terminology or equipment needed. thanks for making cool things!!

Dan Bullock

Really interesting listen as always Orla, despite me being nothing to do with the music biz. These are great as little podcast like insights, looking forward to learning more! Keep making magic :D

Paul Mathews

Thanks for posting this Orla. Its a great way to understand how you compose your awesome tunes!

That was an awesome peek at songwriting sessions! :) If <i>"It's Friday (Favorite Day of the Week)"</i> becomes a hit, will we all get a writing credit?? :D

Thomas Borgstrup

Thank you for yet another cool, interesting and inspired video. :) It might not be common practice to talk economy, but I was wondering if you would be up for doing a video on the financial side of things? What percentage of our Patreon donations end up in your bank account? (You may have mentioned this earlier.) Do you even get a single penny from Spotify? How does releasing an EP, signing a management contract, going on tour and/or writing songs for others factor in? Basically, can you make a living as a full time musician at this point?

Lauren

This was fun! Would make for s fun little exercise to go through these techniques and see what comes of it.

This is a good one. The creative mind always seems such a magical thing that it's good to have it demystified a little bit--though it's still magic! And I loved the sneaky little Steps snippet :)

Mark Watson

Love these videos. The topics you mention at the beginning (like minute 4) would be an awesome way to continue.

Amy
