Hey gorgeous folk

How ARE YA? This post is a HELLO but also a SORRY for my slacking on here these last few weeks! I am well & truly back. Have some posts queued up to once again awaken the demo club.. so good morning. 🌞

For the last few weeks I've been on tour with my ridiculously talented friend dodie, singing BVs and playing guitar in her live band. We've all toured together for dodie's project twice before but something about this tour felt so different.. it's like we were all finally comfortable in our roles & what we could bring to the tour & as friends became so much closer.. it was a really amazing, all encompassing experience ! I'm smiling ear to ear just remembering all the weird & wonderful moments; waking up together on the tour bus in our little coffin bunks, tour tattoos in Brighton, the smiles to each other on stage, nights drinking tea, nights drinking everything in sight. I guess for the most part touring is new to us all & it's just so cool & exciting to grow together as musicians ☺️

Aaaaaaanyway, returning from tour is weird. It's like.. you miss silence & you want to be on your own for a bit.. but you also can't stand the thought of being alone & having to live a day that isn't being organised for you! a day where you're left to your own devices & not guided by the tour manager (AKA Siobhain AKA tour mum). Mix that in with a severe lack of sleep & no clean clothes and I've mentally had a bit of an odd week! But today I woke up feeling motivated again, feeling ready to finish off prepping for my single release (this month people! one annoying small thing holding it up but the track is totally done and we're CLOSE!). 🤞🏻 Tour also gave me the gigging bug for myselfffffff so I've set in stone two headline gigs for the end of May, a Dublin & London show.. details to come soon! (I'll let you guys know before the rest of the internet). These shows will be my first with a new band & a helluva lot of new tunes.. so I'm excited / nervous as hell. Then will hopefully come some tours further afield! 😍 oh mama. How surreal to actually BE A REAL SELF RELEASING ARTIST AGAIN!??!? Wowza. I'll always love you guys for being a solid crew through my hermit years.

How are you guys! Fill me in on your last few weeks. Any updates? Any weekend plans? How's your head?

xx

So I say this in basically ALL posts about new music thing, but I'm still so pumped for it! In terms of everything else, life is pretty average with school (and planning university things). In music news, I just my first couple open mic nights where I played a full set of my own tunes! I've been proud of what I've been writing lately, and I'm just having a really fun time with it. Hope everyone here is doing great too :)

i'm in my last month of uni for the foreseeable future which is SCARY AS HELL. i'm dropping out/taking time off to work because i want to reevaluate what i've been studying and what i want to do in the future so i'm moving out of my student apartment and back to the city i grew up in and trying to find work in my fields which are like. sound engineering/recording/producing, live sound, and technical theatre. i'm starting to get some projects nailed down for the summer which is exciting but overall i'm in a very unstable point in my life right now which is SCARY i move back to the city i grew up in in like 20 days which is very exciting cos i miss my friends and my parents and my dog but also it's just. it's a weird time. this weekend i have homework to do tho which should be my main focus i have to finish an arrangement for my jazz toolbox class so i have to write some lead sheets and a cello part lol so that's the plan for today before i go into work this eve!!! busy busy rn but that's okay!!! i like it

work has been stressful (people going on vacation, been getting a more stacked with unplanned work than I would like), podcasting (always a constant for me; by the way, I sent you a message on Patreon regarding your podcast "options"), programming and following/wishing I was touring with rest of you! Looks so amazing and tiring! You'll survive the tour withdraw; I hope you have more in your future (and some of your own *cough*USA*cough*). :)

We saw Dodie with the whole family in Amsterdam. Sorry you weren't there. Preparing for Live at Leeds on the 5th of May. Some great new acts in the line-up. Booked a holiday on Iceland for the summer, so who's complaining. Recover from the tour and get to work with your new material.

I get it. All of it. Sounds cool. So, I'll just be here waiting. Tapping my foot. ....

I just love your music Orla♥️ it's so real. I am wondering how you create and record your Youtube Videos? Maybe you can talk about that some time? :) I would love to know how to maybe you already did but I never saw it...🤔

ahhhh that sounds like a truly weird time for the head. I hope the move goes smooth - it sounds like dropping uni for a bit to focus on what you want is a great (and brave) idea. good luck with it allllllll! legend x

Orla Gartland
