The heroes we didn't know we needed.

QotM: had a inspired idea for how this would be handled but I'm bad with song titles. Nintendo doesn't seem to any musicals so my choice is Kirby. It should be done with puppets of course like Avenue Q. The colorful world would make for great sets. Kirby doesn't really talk much so the rest of the cast will have to make up the difference with whoever I portrays him harmonizing with poyo. As for songs I'm boring and say stiff like "Poyo Meddely" or "Metaknights Lament"

Maybe it's because there was just a Retronauts episode on it so it's on my brain, but I would like to pitch a Suikoden musical. You can gather actors to play all 108 Stars of Destiny and all the side characters can have their own little character songs as the protagonist recruits them. Musicals are often filled with tragedy, and Suikoden is all about tragedy, so it lends itself thematically! Plus, imagine all the elaborate performances you could have with 108 actors on the stage all singing as an army!

Diamond "they're just like a big blob" Stu "same" There it is, the most expedient joke ever made on the podcast. EDIT - Wait, Stus first attempt making the Switch 2 sound probably beats it out! QotM - The MGS series definitely has a large enough cast of whacky characters and a plot convoluted enough to make for a fine opera. Complete with somehow-completely-disguised-by-a-domino-mask character shenanigans.

Jason J

QOTM: FFVII. The cast reminds me of a bunch of over the top theatre kids so is a natural fit for a musical.

Always an instant listen for me, every month 🙌

QotM: A series that would adapt to the stage with adequate camp is Tekken. Several characters with melodramatic backstories that would translate well to song and lots of choreographed dance fighting, culminating in a finale where Kazuya throws Heihachi off a cliff. My only demand is that the performer behind the King mask must growl through his song.

Guillermo Jiménez

QotM: Super Mario Odyssey is halfway into being a musical already, with two proper set pieces with lyrics, a funny story plus those ads with people dancing in them when the game came out. Just put lyrics to some of the other themes and build some proper sets (the buildings from the Universal parks could serve as a blueprint) and your work is almost done. You can cheat and bring in themes from other games: I have a feeling you can get some killer numbers out of "Rosalina in the Observatory", "Gusty Garden Galaxy" or the SMB3 airship theme.

You two talked about Perfect Dark and then the next day it was announced that the sequel was canceled. The Retronauts curse continues!

Brandon Walker

QotM: NiGHTS Into Dreams needs a musical. It already has songs, great music, and some flamboyant characters. It’s most of the way there already,

Seán Foley

QotM: A Toejam & Earl musical. The opening number would be the remains of the Rapmaster Rocket having crashed to Earth and the two titular heroes climbing out of the wreckage, dusting themselves off with just strings playing the first three notes of the theme song, drawn out. Then you'd have your usual "meet the Earthlings" number, our heroes have an argument and get split up, they find each other again at end of the second act and high-five, etc. Also, Burt Reynolds is there.

Love to hear Diamond got a chance to 日本語上手 someone. The first (of many) 日本語上手s I got was when I was at a restaurant and said "thanks" to the waitress. That kind of set the tone.
