Excellent. About to get my drink and snack ready. So glad you seem to be enjoying the series so far. Fun fact: the actress who plays Madame Gao, Wai Ching Ho, you just saw recently as the voice of Meilin's grandmother in "Turning Red." Hope you're having a good day. Cheers, Nat!

Neon Ghost

I hope she will watch all of the defenders series

Ian

After the day I've had this is perfect for a pick me up cheers as always nat I'm sure I will be smiling in no time 🙂

Randee Carreno

Happy Tuesday, Natalie! 😊 Glad that you're really liking this show so far. Lighthearted movies are definitely the way to go while watching this show. The next episode is one of my favorites. I've only seen the first two seasons. And I've decided to wait to watch the third one when you get to it. Looking forward to watching this episode reaction this evening. Have a great day today! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Ben Wheeler

One of the best oners in film, imo

Jonathan Giles

Hell yeah. Loving the episodes. The Netflix world has arrived lol

Marc Ammundsen

This seems like the perfect opportunity to watch The Nice Guys! It's a crime comedy with Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. Will help balance out all the heavy content. :)

Marco St

Goddamn, I hate that I automatically open up Netflix instead of Dinsey+ to watch this.

Rime Pendragon

At least Jessica Jones. Season 1 is great.

Degenerick

you have now witnessed the GREATEST ONE TAKE SCENE OF AL TIME

Neon Ghost

I would hope all the daredevil season and punisher

anthony

Agree with this very much!

Riolkin

Yesterday I mentioned some good camera work this show has. This episode has the first really good example of that. The whole finale of this episode is one long shot of the same hallway, and I'm a huge fan of long steady shots. I also really like the fighting in this one. Frequently in the hallway, Matt looks like a boxer on the ropes. He puts his back up, tries to catch what breath he can, then when his enemy comes at him he explodes outwards. I like how even though he clearly has had some kind of ninja training with all his throws and acrobatics, his fighting style is most heavily informed by his father's boxing. Great reaction as always, Nat! Glad you like this show, it's definitely my favorite thing I've seen Charlie Cox do. If you need a light-hearted movie, I recommend watching Charlie Cox in Stardust. I won't list the whole cast here because it's one of those movies that is fun to be surprised by who you see and in what role you see them in.

Riolkin

Old habits die hard. I still do that with The Office

Riolkin

There's another one this show has in a stairwell that is S tier.

Darryl Low

YES! Nat's reaction to this movie would be amazing 😊 Cameron may have to work overtime though 😂

Tayyib Majumder

Yeah the final fight was a true one take. It's become staple of the show to have these long take action scenes in every season can't wait for you to see the rest!

Darryl Low

We would never feel the need to skip your intros Nat 😄 Loved your scotch bottle / scotch tape mix-up. Had me laughing out loud. I watched this 1st season a while back and it just never clicked with me, but after watching these first 2 episodes again with you, I really got pulled into it this time. I look forward to the next one. Thanks for your great reaction today Nat 💛

Nexus

Instant family is a great feel good movie

Philip

Not sure how Ricola is working for you, but Cepacol is worth a shot. Definitely a lot stronger, but I find it more effective. Anyway, thank you for another great reaction Nat! Hope you feel better!

Fomorach

this show is so good! and if you need something lighthearted you should go with another show, 'The Marvellous Mrs Maisel' is perfect, I have a smile on my face during every episode from start to finish. The best feel good content out there and one of the best shows ever!

matthew h

Same. It took me way too long to realize what I'd done.

jamie jones

All the defenders needs to be watched for sure.

jamie jones

You should watch season 1 of every defenders show in order up to the defenders mini series. Then after that just continue watching the shows you enjoyed. Everyone shits on iron fist and iron fist is the worst of the shows but its still a great show. Just the other shows are sooo good that it looks worse in comparison. Plus luke cage and iron fist are only two seasons. Daredevil and jessica jones are only 3.

Vaughn Bell

Nat thinking that a dad had his blind son do his stitches is hilarious.

Ed Green

Letter mnemonic for the release/setting order: DJ LD IFP JLID PJ. F standing for Defenders

Kathy Ice

Yeah, you're not going to see Matt shoot anybody. In the comics, Matt HATES guns because his father was killed with a gun. The series doesn't spell it out that specifically, but it's pretty clear Matt dislikes them.

Nathaniel Castle

I haven’t watched this show since it came out and I am really enjoying this rewatch with you

Lee Gannon

Carl 'Crusher' Creel first appeared a decade before Apollo Creed from Rocky. Creel is also known as the Absorbing Man and appeared in episodes of Agents of SHIELD.

Zathras

Saw someone else suggest Stardust as a good light hearted movie, that also has Charlie Cox as the lead. It's one of my favorites and has some great characters.

djKENTO

Well after this reaction I can’t wait to see how Natalie reacts to Daredevil’s buddy Frank Castle…

Ian

I've probably said it before but I will say it again you can't go wrong with RUSH HOUR don't think I've come across anyone who doesn't enjoy this movie I know for sure you would have a blast watching nat and it would make for an amazing reaction

Joe Blankenship

Yeah, this show helped Netflix get huge. It’s so good. Feels like HBO instead of TV. I hope you get around to The Punisher series someday. Season 2 of Punisher was really good.

jamie jones

Yeah, I only subscribed to netflix for this show and the rest of the defenders.

Joe Blankenship

Bojack Horseman was pretty great. I might just buy that on bluray.

jamie jones

Oh dont get me wrong, there’s alot of good content on netflix. Content they love to cancel too soon but thats besides the point. Its just that their marvel shows are what made me pull the trigger and pay for their service.

Elmo

To answer your mother question, it gets addressed much MUCH later

Mastervodo

Part of what makes Daredevil (Seasons) good is the buildup. It's not a fast-paced show, so there's a slow burn. Every hero needs a great villain, and Nat.... I'm speaking to you. Yes you. Hello you.... I will enjoy your commentary on the villain(s) when they appear. So far you've just got red shirts, thugs and henchmen. Anyway.... off to grab a drink and a snack. Lots of drinks and snacks to drink and snack on before you get to ARCANE.

Elmo

Also your comment about "its only season 1, you have time to learn", Yeah, he never learns hahaha

Logan Kerlee

I fell in love with this show when it first came out. Also, they released the entire season in one day, way back when. It was awesome being able to just sit through and entire story without needing to wait a week for the next bit. STRONGLY prefer it to be that way vs. releasing shows in sections. I'm super hype that you've FINALLY begun this series, Nat. It's going to be a ton of fun to watch. :)

jamie jones

You don’t need to watch mr.negative nancy

Caroline Adina

The one in S3 though...absolutely amazing

Chris Gronau

If you're looking for light movies to balance out all the heavy stuff, I'd recommend A Knight's Tale or Knives Out. Both are excellent movies that don't take themselves too seriously.

Babawze

okay i gotta say, there are W in French, but as far as know, it's pretty much only in borrowed word from other languages, like wagon, hawaïen, clown... Other fun fact: we say double V instead of double U

DMON

I do love the fact that the fight was one shot and you can see Matt really get tired from the fight.

jamie jones

You want a good, funny movie- try little miss sunshine

Richard Maurer

Yes Nat, please watch all the shows. Punisher, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage are all really good, and if you go that far you might as well watch Iron Fist too - it's not as bad as people make it out to be. And I think you will enjoy Jessica Jones - you alway comment about women being "badass bitches", well Jessica is one of the baddest.

Richard Maurer

Yeah, I binged the first season in 3 days

Keith Jacobsen

*mixes a vodka-Redbull and snaps open a jalapeno smoked sausage stick* I'm gonna ENJOY this!

jamie jones

I’d say jessica jones is the best of all the defenders shows

crawlie

You're likely starting to get why we were all so excited to see Matt in the MCU :) A "Cutman" in boxing is the person in your corner who will patch up lacerations or contusions inbetween rounds, like Matt was doing to his father after the fight (and Claire was doing for Matt). To me, the cops at the scene of his father's death likely knew exactly why he was killed, as well as who killed him. They also knew evidence wouldn't matter. This is an area where criminals have run rampant for a long time, and only now is there someone to challenge them. The "Hallway fight" is one of those special moments on TV when you just know this show is epic. How Matt fights and moves is just iconic. I love that it's not an endless horde of bad guys. He takes them down, but only has time for a quick breather before some of them get back up and try again, and again. All the time we see him getting more tired and tore down, but he doesn't give up - just like his father. Then he still has the presence of mind to know the mask will scare the boy, so he pushes it up. Just <3.

Kevin

So tired of marvel and now we're doing low quality Netflix marvel 💤

Thomas Yanez

Tell us you haven't watched "Daredevil" without telling us you haven't watched "Daredevil".

Danishprince

Behave Jamie. Don't attack people like that :)

jamie jones

I consider it a statement of fact more than an attack.

Ilsuk Yang

Well, he was tired before the fight

Caaaaaaarl

It makes me so SO happy that you're finally doing this show. (BIASED) This is my favorite marvel show. I hope you enjoy it.

Caaaaaaarl

For light hearted stuff I recommend The Secret Lif of Walter Mitty. It's a good punch in the heart.

Munky Kung Fu

Watch "MAVERICK" Starring, Mel Gibson

MrHolbyta

The thing I love about the oner is that it is a true oner. There are no hidden cuts. The only cheat is that Charlie and his stunt double switch out a couple times. Absolutely relentless and says so much about who Matt Murdock is.

Endling_king

YES PLEASE! its one of my favorites

Troy S

hav e you seen breaking bad? or maybe a rewatch

Thomas Malley

Why don't you balance out with some romantic comedies from the 90s?

Taner Archibald

That’s also like one of the most riveting and intense sequences I’ve ever seen in a TV show. Because it shows you that not only is Daredevil powerful, but he’s human, he gets tired, he can be hurt, but he’s driven to fight through because of what’s at stake.

Jordan Love

Yes, like Cannibal! The Musical. That's one of my favorite romantic comedy from the 90s, and bonus, it's a musical!

Logan Kerlee

Hiyo, I've got a question for another show. Is anybody else watching The Boys? I just finished watching episodes 1 - 3 of season 3 and I enjoyed them. Not wanting to push Nat to watch it, but I'd like to find others that dig on it so I can bs with ya. Lemme know! :)

RoadTripAdventuresWithAndrew

Probably not the place to do it since this post has nothing to do it with The Boys. But definitly next time there is a poll for shows mention the boys so natatlie can put it on a poll so we all can vote for he to watch it

Balkyne

The boys was on a poll recently

Stephen Lewis

If you need a light hearted comedy you cant go wrong with "What About Bob" with Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfus. I just started watching DD with you tonight and am enjoying the series so far.

Logan Kerlee

I'm aware. As I said in the post, I'm looking for people to bs with about the show. It's a show that's more fun watching with someone else, I feel. Was hoping to find someone on here who also enjoys or is wanting to give it a shot.

Jules 4 Fools

you can also do this in the Discord

Ernesto

Really happy you are watching Daredevil. For something light, I would recommend "Speed Racer" by the Wachowskis as it is chessy

Garrick Smalley

RE: death penalty. I am with you on your views. The only reason I am against it is because we can not be 100% certain 100% of the time we have the correct person. If we could I would say yep some people deserve the death penalty because I doubt rehabilitating them before they die of old age would be possible.

Narutoanime16

I love how this episode just paralleled everything Matt said to his priest in episode 1 about his dad trapping Creel in the corner and winning letting the devil out, then Matt’s hallway fight Itself

Marty McGee

Yeah I love how he won't fire a gun, but will take the gun away from a guy and beat him with it. :-)

Foxyguava

Three weeks late... but for the pupil question it depends on the type of blind. If it's neurological on both eyes, no response. If just the retinas on one side are affected with both neural pathways to both sets of muscles still intact, a light in the perfectly fine eye can still trigger the constriction of the blind eye. Now if the blindness is do to something closer to the brain and less so the retinas and their pathways/ reflexive pathways, pupilary response stays intact. There are probably a bunch of little scenarios all with different outcomes

Fostena

I know that is an established trope, but I always find it very funny that in the superhero genre punches, bruises and falls are not only non-lethal but they are never handicapping. Daredevil is resolute to not kill anyone, however he throws baddies out of four story buildings and beat them to a pulp. Yeah. In the real world if the bad guy survives (unlikely) he probably won't walk ever again.

SilverWolf

Uh-huh, I agree. It's such a tension between wanting to punish people who've done horrible things, but also wanting to make sure that innocence aren't punished instead

SilverWolf

Ooh, knives out is so good! I'd love to see her reaction to that if she hasn't seen it! :D

Skizane

This man (or woman) speaketh the freaking truth 1,000%!!! Hollywood has its own rulebook it has created for what constitutes an injury and how severe or crippling that injury will be and there's a visual shorthand that's been taught to all of us over the years. Fall off a ten story building? It's okay, you're unhurt because you landed in a dumpster. Get shot anywhere but the heart or the head? Get up and keep going, you wimp! What also cracks me up is how they show getting knocked unconscious to be easy and convenient, with no ill effects afterward. Christopher Nolan is a frequent offender of this one, watch how bad buys barely get tapped and hit the floor in the last Batman movie in his trilogy. In the real world, it takes a huge amount of a force to knock someone unconscious, and if you are out for more than a second or two it's virtually guaranteed you will have permanent brain damage. Getting punched and being knocked out for an hour like they show in the movies and you're waking up a vegetable.

Fostena

I would say Batman in general (comic book AND movie, for the most part) is 100% guilty of the same trope. "I don't want to kill so I won't administer the killing blow" well, since you punched him for an hour in the head I would say stopping now won't make much of a difference! 😁

Fostena

I would love if a superhero show or movie would address this issue. It could be depressing and/or super funny. The only movie that comes to mind (if I remember correctly) is Guy Ritchie's "Lock and Stock". There's a scene where one guy tries to knock someone out "like in the movies" and hilarity ensues
