Love that Luffy 100% listens to his crew If Nami and Chopper want something and say they won't budge until they see the kids off, then we won't budge ! I wonder if it's something that came along with the Usopp and Merry situation in Water7 Back then he didn't realize/hear their ask for help. Love that he apologized to the Merry for neglecting her. She was definitely a metaphorical death of a nakama and around when Luffy started to fight more recklessly with his body in order to protect them.

Great end discussion. Oda can and does write flat characters but he does so when that's the *point*, like with Hody (his blind hatred of humans is part of the narrative itself). But he adds so much complexity effortlessly even to one-off side characters we wouldn't normally care about. Almost feels like other writers have to try to make characters have more than one dimension but Oda has to try to make them 1D. Or more accurately when Oda's characters are flat it feels like a deliberate choice instead of a lack of vision on his part. And because so many characters are complex, the flatter characters are intriguing in their own way because of this contrast, like for example the celestial dragons and many of the nobles.

Also episodes 266-267 are filler and 268 only has like 4-5 minutes of stuff that isn't part of the filer, iirc. If it's not too much trouble I think 268 last bit only should be released together with 269.

There's quite a few things many, me included, would want to see y'all react to before we get into another arc. ( cover stories, and at least 2 movies ) You guys have been pretty consistent with this arc and made it a blast to watch along. Personally, I think a 'break' from the anime to cover those elements would be welcomed and I've seen that sentiment shared in here and the Discord. 🙏🏾

I haven't seen this part of the show(i missed 500-750ish on my original watchthrough). Something I was thinking about with the final scene is that Law is also putting Doflamingo in a position where he has to choose between something important to him and his crew. So far he has seemed to genuinely care on some level about his people, but I imagine he has the choice now to just say fuck it theyre not worth giving up everything he's worked for, or to either comply or try get them back another way. Good way to make him show his true colours whatever he decides

I love what this does for Kaido too. We know Doflamingo is powerful. We saw him make short work of Orz and stop Jozu in his tracks. But the moment Law said "you can fight Kaido or the Admirals, take your pick" the man is shook.

i was trying to catch up to my housemate but then i just started watching with him on the tv and hadnt gone back to fill it in. Then i saw people reacting to it and figured id just follow from the start and see the parts i missed lol
