Just like i mentioned in ep 5 it took somewhat a Butterfly Effect ending since Ashton Kutcher never spoke to his love interest to avoid the terrible future and same here, Azuma decided not to talk to Shizuka to potentially avoid a bad outcome. Takopi or The Apothecary Diaries should be anime of the year only options. We'll see since we still have Fall anime.

Only reason I didn't mentioned it is because the season is not finished yet. Anything can happen to derail it.

In my opinion, it was the right call not to go with a sweet, neatly resolved ending or a horrific one just for shock value. The main characters’ lives went from horrible to somewhat bad - but sometimes, “bad” is such an improvement over “horrible” that it’s enough to spark real change Thank you for your reaction and discussion!

Oof, what a show… wasn’t sure what would happen either, but Takopi was right all along, they just needed to talk. Love to see it this way. Honestly your discussions were just as good as the eps to me. Great stuff. Also really liked your weird metaphor, Carson. Seeing shows like this is always so good. It reminds me that there are people out there that think about these things and feel they are important enough to make a show about.

i like that shizuka ultimately needed a good cry. all of them needed that. and it was so fun rewatching this with you both! i will probably go back to this episode when i needed that good cry as well. i think it hit me better this second time. thank you for talking about the length! it was so good. i really wish we have more of these and we break the industry standard length, just focusing on what is needed for the story. part of its success may be the heavy involvement of the creator as well.
