2 Girls 1 Camera (Patreon)

Right after finishing Veronica, I said the next step would be Martin. But since Blender gave me such a hard time while rendering Veronica in this new style, I decided to test something first. I placed both girls in the same scene to see what would happen. To my surprise, Blender crashed every single time. It only happened when both girls were visible in the camera. If one of them stepped out of frame, everything rendered fine. This is a serious problem, because I need everyone on camera to build the story scenes!
So I put Martin’s development on hold and began debugging the issue. I opened a few reports on the Blender bug tracker to get insights from the developers. Part of the problem was indeed on their side, but I also had some unconventional uses of Blender features that made the renders unstable. While I waited for a fix, I reworked materials, node trees, and even built small custom tools to see if I could bypass the crash without losing the visual style I want for the game.
It was thirty days of trial and error to get both characters working in the same scene without Blender throwing a fit. I even found an issue that came from something inside Melissa’s blouse geometry. I still have no idea what exactly caused it, but replacing the piece allowed me to move forward. Then, one day later, the devs released a new build of Blender 5.0 with the remaining fixes I needed.
And now here we are. Both girls in the same scene, stable, rendering properly, and hopefully looking better than ever. Here are some pics:
I hope you like it :DNow I can get back to building Martin and then continue the story with new scenes!
