Hi there!

This little bank should round out the piggy options that have often been requested the last few months.

As you can see from the second picture, I created a little screw plug on the bottom so you don't have to break it to get your stash. Just make sure you don't screw it on tight, it can get stuck.

Two versions: One with and one without the $ on the top :)

Printing tips vary for this particular model:

Recommend upping the top layers to 6 or 7 to avoid pillowing on the top of the back (bambu's default is 4, which is too low)

No issues on my other machines because the default top layers is already set higher.

Consider a lower layer height (.12), or a variable layer height, so that the top prints a little smoother. I used a variable layer height on the tops of these and it worked like a charm.

***Fun addition to this print is add some 3d printed coins. Quite a few options online, but members can also use the Flexi Factory Coin and scale to 23% to "fit through" the opening. I printed one at 30% and it it made for a nice display piece sticking out of the opening! Don't forget that one can be printed in multicolor with a simple color change on the layer, no AMS needed. Happy Printing -Dan

Tracey Kryskowiak

WooHoo! I was just looking for something to put on one of the printers!

Dan

Ah darn. I almost never do Monday releases but we have a fresh new month starting Friyay :)

Dan

My wife did a translucent one for my kiddos room and put a light in the belly. Pretty cute option.

Dax Smith

This bad boy is a stunner! Thank you :)

KA Cruise

I swear my wife just told me I needed to do a piggy bank! You snooping on us?? :-)

milkyway man

Looking good, just wondering if it would be possible to get one with an € sign? 😅

Veronica E

Great Job Dan! On the 3mf, would you be able to separate the hoof from the leg? I can't paint it separately like the other pig models.

Dan

They are ready to paint. If you use the trangle tool to draw across the back of the hoof, then drop the fill to 28...you can fill it easily :)

Donna Dubinsky

My grandkids are going to LOVE these!

Tony Thompson

Can we have one with an English Pound sign, £ Please

Jes S

arhhhhhhhhhh m so excited!!!!! my kids want piggy banks and i have found any good ones out there!! and then this notification come through and I'm sooooo excited. off to print 8 of these, one for each kid. :)

Luis Gregorio

Im printing one with 40% scale up, its gonna be huuuuge

Tabba

love this... my daughter is now asking me if i have a cow one... :)

Veronica E

I don't quite follow. Can you explain a little bit more?

Jes S

my plug isn't screwing in, did i stuff up??? anyone else struggling?

Dan

It can be difficult if the thread are mismatched or the cap had issues when printing. You scaled the same as the model?

Railroad Model Engineering

I run a Bambu so it came out perfect, but if you don't you will need to dial in your printer settings to compensate for elephant foot and hole/external wall offset it's just not going to work for you

Jes S

yes both at 100%, I'm thinking the cap seems a bit squished so am reprinting to test again with different settings. hopefully it works this time. in anycase I'm still in love with this piggy bank..... Thanks Dan

neil pelling

do you need supports for this

Dan

My files NEVER need supports. It would hinder the funcionality.

Greg Ryan

Love the piggy bank. I printed one at 65% so that I could sell at a certain price point, but unfortunately, our Australian 20c and 50c coins don't fit the slot. Any chance you would consider a model with bigger coin slot and plug. Thanks

Dan

Oh goodness! I was looking into adding a couple additional money signs...but changing the side is considerably more difficult and time intensive.

Greg Ryan

No problems, just giving feed back.

CREATIVE 3DEAS

Can you please make this into a zip file or add to the list of all files? I like to save everything, but it is a pain having to download each file one at a time.

Dan

I have added the zip above. Usually, I keep the files separate on the initial release post, so folks can decide what files they want(3mf). But then I zip them for the Monthly download post and the bonus post.

David Dahl

could easily put your own size slot hole on the model, the bottom plug would be harder to resize. could really be a piggy "bank" though LOL

Mr. J

Can anyone offer any tips on threaded pieces? I can't get the plug to screw in. I used .12 layer height....

Luke North

I can't speak on this exact print, but for threads in general, I use a modifier around the threads and slow all of the speeds down to 40-50mm/s.

BambuP1S

Does this Piggy bank require supports?

Dan

No. None of my files ever need supports!
