It's definitely not done yet. If you look closely you will notice there is no back half of it's body. 😁

It's a crazy complicated model so it's taking a little extra time, but I promise I will have it to you next week.🤞

And yes, the mouth opens and the wings are posable.

I hope you like it so far.

Thanks,-Dan

A couple people asked about the filament. it's TTYT Fast color change rainbow, which has been one of my favorites for a couple of years. However, I'm now looking for a replacement since they switched to a smaller paper spool that doesn't fit in my Bambu AMS. 😒

Gina Mani

That is sick!!! Can't wait!

DroneSkinz D

I'm really liking this one. Looking forward to printing it Thanks bud!😉👍🏾

Byron Neal

Dan have you thought about one of the standup characters like the astronaut but using the ball joints versus the chain loop style joints? Might make them more stable and posable!

Glade8r

Woo hoo!

Vinny Ferraro

This looks so awesome! Would be cool if you could put a ball and socket joint inside the mouth so you could attach a separately printed fire ball to so it looks like it’s breathing fire!

Herb Veitenhans

Nice, definitely looking forward to another dragon. Your imperial dragon is nice buuuut it’s not as popular a seller for us as the other dragons out there.

Dan

TTYD3D. Still my favorite even though they moved to paper spool :(

Papa's 3D Printing

Hey Dan! I suggest trying with an empty spool first, but TtY3D has worked for me. I use the bambu spool by ripping the cardboard off one side and sliding the bambu spool into the cardboard spool! Flip over, repeat. There is a risk, of course. But it hasn't failed me yet.

Tig

Ohh we this is gonna be fun

elvis cummings

Omg! Omg! I'm so excited! (Wife hijacking here lol)

Todd Sipala

Like it? We love it!!!🥰

pcwzrd13

You're making the Steampunk Dragon?! Awesome! :-D

Shaun May

Cant wait for this one 😍

Stefano Echanique

I use Enisina Silk Rainbow PLA Filament and it works rather well.

David Long

I purchased 6 rolls when I messaged you about the croc on the main page lol. I've been hoarding it ever since.

Dan

Yes, I have done that, in fact that's how I did this one. I would just rather not if I have the choice.

J K

You just 1up’d the Dragon printing game! I look very forward to this launch!!

MegaObi

im pumped - never been so excited for a print!?!!!

Magpulx720

BTW, I can't wait to see that dragon!

HeadyCustoms3D

Appreciate your hard work, is this an exclusive?

HeadyCustoms3D

Filament is great, spools are a little smaller than Elegoo

Paige's Purlieu

Crazy that a spool doesn’t fit cause it’s smaller! Is it something you can print a spool mod for? I have both my printer spools modded from the original to help make them compact, convenient AND self spinning which I think is slightly less taxing on the extruder motors. But I’ve never ran into any issues with any brands of spools not working on my stuff. But I know multi color printer usually have enclosures and stuff. So might not be the same.

Erin O

I ripped the cardboard sides off that rainbow filament and put on an empty bambu spool.....took a little squishing, but almost through a roll with no issues since.

Randy Gifford

I love that you are putting out another dragon. The posable wings are a total bonus.

dejjen

Mika3D has an awesome fast color change rainbow. That's what I've been using.

Lainley H

Wow this looks amazing

Dan

Early release.

Dan

Hi Paige, With the AMS, the spools roll from the outside of the roll, and small rolls drag on the bottom and miss the rollers. I do have a couple of mods and solutions that fix it, but it's a hassle. Works fine I suppose.

Paige's Purlieu

Oooohhh I’ve seen similar stuff like that, that makes sense but I understand it being annoying there are a lot of things that can be very annoying about printers when you use them daily! I personally advocate strongly for the cardboard spools just because I’m hugely into recycling and I end up with so many non recyclable spools that I have a huge difficulty finding something to with. I wish there was a universal way to use refillable spools or something!

Kim Siegel

I can't wait! Love dragons!

@d3d_creative

May the “Not another Dragon” wars begin. Bring it on TikTok 😁

Herb Veitenhans

Really hoping for pop in wings and hopefully no steam punk

Mark Morris

I'm going to have some happy grandkids!

fishbowl

I made a comment somewhere else that TTYT went to a smaller spool that wouldn't work in the AMS and got called crazy! I've just been breaking the sides off the cardboard spools and using bambu printed spool sides. Worked well so far.

kaz watts

oh my! Have just ordered the new Bambu A1! Bring it on!

Dextar

So excited for this one!

Dan

Hey I think one a year is fair. No?

Dan

Neither really.

Dan

I printed some pieces that fit into the AMS that work just fine. And also some weights. I do prefer a consistent spool though.

Jon Moreno

I was like.. oh! wow! :D

Inkosi3D

can't wait!!!!

Cindy Hale

I’m so excited!!! Nice work! I’ve been loving all your designs so far!!

Taylor

i just got a bambo too!

R

Yeah major issues with the spool they have on my Bambu ams as well. Feeds OK, most of the time, but retractions are a nightmare.

SneakySmurf

Steampunk Imperial Dragon.......?

Noobinator.0

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Jeffrey J Libman

But for just one spool it can be Bing on the outside spool holder rather than in the AMS

Imperial dragon didn't have wings. This looks more like a Western style dragon. Excited to see it in all of its glory!

Waffle Beaumont

I have a 5-tool Prusa XL, so if there is a paint job for PrusaSlicer that would be awesome! I'll try to print one maximum size!

TheArtifactWorkshop

One a month is fair if they look different from the crowd like yours do! It’s when you can’t tell them apart that it becomes an issue. Dragons are the only thing that sells for me on Etsy. Dragons paid for my 3rd, 4th and 5th printers. Feel free to release all the dragons you want.

TheArtifactWorkshop

The adapters for cardboard can work ok, but not as consistently as I would like. I have resorted to the 3D printed re-spool machine and use Bambu rolls for the filaments that I’m not willing to part with.

Samantha

Fuzzy skin? I applied electrical tape to the rim of my cardboard spool but it still had some troubles with it. Saw it on a reddit post.

bigibomb

they said sometime this week

@d3d_creative

You could do 10 a year Dan, it was others on TikTok doing this a while back as everyone was printing Dragons from several creators 😀

Dan

Coming today. waiting for my last test and yes, Prusa and Bambu 3mf will b e provided!

Dan

Today!!!

Mysticrain13

Just finished my print on my Bambu. Amazing great detail!!!!

Alison Mackel

started with 60% because i am impatient and couldnt wait its gorgeous larger one will be set off while im out :D

Chris Lutz

Already printed a couple of these at full scale. One was all white, other was gold/white and red. Many color changes on the P1S but looks awesome!!

Dr Brad Shaw

Is that why when I just tried to print it it stopped about 85 lines in and said it was finished?

Debra Jarskey

can this be scaled down? if so how far?

Debra Jarskey

Why I ask is because it does not fit on my plate. it's a little to big.

Dan

Yes, it sure can. I test to 50% but that would have very small parts and could be more fragile. So scaling up you can go huge, but down does diminish the details and strength.

Dan

Did you get a clog? This has happens to me when it continues to "print" but nothing comes out.

Dr Brad Shaw

I don't think so. The next item printed just fine so I don't think there was a clog. But maybe, I am very new to 3d printing so I am still trying to figure everything out.

bigibomb

check the preview of the sliced file see if its fully slicing the dragon into gcode

Dr Brad Shaw

I have checked the preview after slicing it and it shows up fully. I am going through and checking my settings just to make sure my line heights and infill are correct. The clogged nozzle was definitely a possibility

Victoria Crossland

Have you tryed the spool holder on makersword its free and i can now use small rolls in my bambu ams

Stapinski_3d

Is it safe to assume you test everything to 50%? I've been curious if we knew the bottom of the scale.

Can you link the file? I haven't found one that works!
