Blogpost 2 - My favourite watercolour art supplies (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone! 🤗
Over the last few weeks, I've been practising more and more with watercolours in combination with my brush pens and pencils. I thought this would be a great time to share the materials I'm using, in case you're interested in starting with watercolours too.
In this blog post, I will walk you through all the go-to materials I use when drawing with watercolours:
Sketchbooks
Brushes
Watercolours
I will also share some affiliate links with you, so you can purchase the art supplies right away if you'd like to! 🤗
✨ Sketchbooks
My favourite sketchbooks at the moment are still the Art Creation sketchbooks from Royal Talens as I talked about in my other blog post about all my favourite materials: Blog post 1 - My go-to materials
They are also great for watercolours when applying thin layers of paint, although sometimes you can't draw on both sides of the paper.
My favourite sketchbooks right now:

(A6) Sketchbook 9x14cm, 80 sheets, 140gr/m2 - Link to Amazon

✨ Brushes
Because I draw in so many places, I really love to use art supplies that are easy to take with me. For brushes, I am so happy with the Caran d'Ache aquarelle brushes. I bought a set with three different sizes of brushes a while ago, but I mainly use the blue and black brushes.

✨ Watercolours
For watercolours, I once got a big box of Van Gogh watercolour pans for my birthday. Later on, I bought a pocket box to bring with me when I'm drawing on location or when I'm traveling. I mostly use these colours:
Titanium Buff (291)
Azo yellow medium (269)
Permanent orange (266)
Raw Sienna (234)
Yellow Ochre (227)
Olive Green (620)
Burnt Sienna (411)
The pocket box I bought includes all of these colours. If you want, you can easily swap one of the pans for another colour at any time! The colours are available in boxes, or you can purchase single colours.
This is the pocket box I bought with all the colours I'm using:

I hope this helps you to get started with watercolours! I know I really love to have this extra medium to choose from when illustrating. Please let me know if you like it as much as I do!
Thank you so much for reading this, and let me know if you have any feedback or any requests for the next blog post! 🤗
Have a beautiful day! ☀️
