Sherman Death Trap: Veterans vs Historians

Belton Cooper's book Death Traps is quite infamous for it's myriad of errors and other problems. Of course, it is very important to consider the context here, so both the division Cooper served in and also the fact that there was at least one ghostwriter involved. And oh boy there are a lot of errors and some are quite weird as well. I look mainly at technical aspects here and some might consider those errors minor, but they are so consistently wrong and with a pattern that I am not sure if there was not actual sabotage or trolling involved. Ok I understand that. Yes, people get mad too fast and assume too fast malitious intentions (not to speak about factual errors in their arguments). As I said: I was just, benevolently, speculating...and basing my speculation on your argument. Just to get an image of what might have played into the distortion of the authors, if we assume there was no willful intend to distort facts. Basically the idea is that whilst memories can and often are distorted, the concrete form the distortion takes is not random. Anyhow...I got carried away by the thinking of my field of expertise, which isn't history (that is just an intellectual hobby for me). So don't put it on the gold scale ;-)

[Shift Enter] gives you a new line, Volker. It's a bit hard to read your valid comments if it's a wall of words. I mean this well, mate.
