Want to thank Alex Combs, my brother Nathaniel especially, and (of course) the inimitable Rachel and Alixe for your—most appreciated and still being savored—words of encouragement for the Witches & Wizards launch last Wednesday.

...my ego took a beating.  I put a lot of effort into it (doubting my own ability each step of the way) and spoke to absolutely the wrong person that day.  Took my breath away, hurt my damn feelings.  To quote the late* Jim Cornette the response I got was

"Flatter than a plate full of piss."

I figured I either need to hire a team of 24/7 cheerleaders, or I need to get on this self-soothing train FAST...

...so I drew my ATW Wrestling persona Witch of the Woods Intercontinental Champion Lül Van Auken Chisholm with the words "pfff whatever" and (surprisingly) I felt better.

I needed reminding that I'm a fighter and (pretty much) great.
And besides that—Witches & Wizards is only just beginning—it's going to be my longest ever comic (until I make a longer one) and once it takes off there aint any going back BY THUNDER

Having studied Wrestling for a number of years now, I realized there were a number of useful catch phrases, advice, and affirmations I could similarly whip up.

I'm curious if I can extend the reach/audience beyond just myself.  If I can affirm myself in a moment of hurt feelings, it seems logical I might do the same for others.

A lovely thing to ponder.

Oh and Jim Cornette isn't dead. I just like referring to him as "The Late Jim Cornette" because large chunks of him died in the early 90s and he's been running on fumes ever since.

I love the idea of taking that crap response and putting the energy into drawing pff whatever! I love the debut, so there unsupportive person! Humph! I just messed up at work and got called out on it, and honestly, picturing your persona going pff whatever about it helped me feel better about it. So I think other stuff like that would totally help!

Ick. I do not like "call outs," they are not my favorite. Mistakes are how we learn, nothing at all to be ashamed of, but I'm pleased my picture helped you recover. The question that's been raking me across the coals is how do body politics enter into this? and—because they totally do—how does one responsibly navigate that?

Oh to be clear, it was lovingly called out and my boss is amazing, I just shame spiraled down a hole because I'm ME, heh. But there was something about your picture that helped pull me out of it, so I wanted you to know that! Regarding body politics, it's always a difficult one, hmmm...
