A couple days ago I finished rereading Beowulf and posted dragon sketches on Instagram

Now I'm in the process of digitizing my favorite but here's two more nobody else will see.  I was inspired by the moment (in the book) when the dragon realizes a single gold cup is missing from its hoard and it starts FREAKIN OUT!

I love the treatment of dragons in Beowulf.  There's a real sense of danger and dread, as Beowulf knows he's going to die taking the beast on.

I really wanted to go old school with the design because—frankly—I'm sick and tired of the same "cool dragon" that is constantly being reproduced.  One of my favorite dragons from cinema is from Willow simply because it's not designed to be that sleek bat winged serpent we've all come to expect.

Looking at medieval art there's this wonderful variety, and some are downright goofy looking

I'm not sure what the punchline/caption will be for this J THEM THEY cartoon.  I'm thinking it'll be something about over-committing to a new pet.

...we'll see!  I want to put a LOT of detail in this one so it's not something I have to worry about right now.

The words "dragon" and "snuggle" in the same sentence sends shivers down the icy cockles of mine hearts.

My initial dragon exposure was Smaug, who is just misunderstood, and Pern where they are companions, so I guess I'm biased for dragons!

Oooh, I love your dragon, I can't wait to see more! Also, I love all these dragons and wish to have them all come live with me so I can snuggle them (yes, I know the consequences are that I will likely die, yes, I'm one of those people who wants to pet the bear)
