Well - here we are. The bitter end, for Kione. This is something of an epilogue, compared to last chapter's large and very final climax. A glimpse into her new life (or un-life, perhaps) and a rather bleak one, at that.

So, er, enjoy?

Regarding what's next: as usual, I'll be putting RESCUE HOUND into one big thing for everybody's reading convenience - although this time with epub, since that's been requested frequently. I might take a little more time than usual to edit it, just to smooth out any small consistency issues that might have arisen. Once I produce that Leinth side-chapter I've promised, I'm hoping to get everything that is WARHOUND together for some kind of big (and ideally physical!) release, subject to me figuring out all of the necessary logistics.

But for the immediate future, I'm going to try and get back to a slightly more frequent cadence of releases, with more of The Subordinate and other stories of all kinds - including, of course, more WARHOUND stories, since I'm already nursing a few ideas

Thank you all for your patience and readership!

Well ho-ly fucking shit. It's here. The end of everything. I'm beyond excited to read.

GOOOOD KIONE YOURE SUCH A FUCKING LOSER Anyway that being said this is a wonderfully bleak ending to a delightfully awful series, as much as everything kione does makes me want to punch her. im very excited for whatever comes next and also for the leinth side chapter, poor girl. favourite awful moment this chapter was realising that sartha really could have been saved if kione wasnt such an awful woman. that hurt just the right amount. incredible as always

Ohhh hell yes. So dark and so brutal for something written with such a calm tone of acceptance. "She knows nothing. She is nothing." and "but if she'll never be her best self, why not be her worst? Isn't that a kind of victory?" Are going to stick with me for a while... For very different reasons, haha. Love the emphasis on the way having something you can't bring yourself to face is POWERFUL fuel for denial and its own kind of inescapable trap.

“There is nothing quite like your first.” This line fucking slapped me in the teeth. What an ending. There were so many times, so many opportunities for Kione to do the right thing, to say no to the manipulation, to put an end to everything. Now, thanks to her own idiotic choices she gets to spend her life with the woman of her dreams dangled in front of her, never to be hers. Deserved, earned, I hope the stinging pain and the guilt never fades. Really looking forward to seeing Leinth's chapter, for now I'm going to lie down and scream into a pillow.

Holy shit that blew my mind- i honestly wasn't expecting this at all but just... Wow. This was far and away the best of the warhound stories so far in my opinion (i love them all though!), congratulations on finishing it! God, what a ride. Unforgettable stuff, Kallie. That last paragraph was absolutely jaw-dropping! This whole work was honestly, loved every second of reading it. You continue to inspire, keep it up! Can't wait to see what you do next!

ROARING AND KICKING MY FEET!!!!!!!!! I didn't believe my eyes when the final story opened with a new name??? The theaboros redesign..... I have an itch to paint it omfgggggg it is SO sick. "Things she cannot unlearn. Things that are a part of her now" "If she can never be her best self, why not be her worst self?" "A petty pleasure?" You cooked so much here!!! I love that even though she has been given a position of power, she is still under control, Handler still holds her leash via Sartha. Goshhh I'm so excited, but also so sad it's over? This was such a fun ride. I love Kione a whole fucking lot. I hope you can enjoy some much earned rest having finally concluded this thing that grew so much. And I hope you're satisfied and proud ♡♡

Also very curious about your process settling on "disodium isoseratrin"!

I fucking knew, i fucking knewwwww that would be radio girl’s fate. Honestly would not be surprised if pela somehow ends up there. God this ending is so cruel and perfect for Kione’s self inflicted downfall. You’ve cooked incredibly hard here

Read this the moment I got the email notification, hours ago, and it's still buzzing around my head. Nothing insightful to say, just that the ending was absolutely pitch perfect. Could not have possibly hoped for better, seriously. Super excited to hear more Subordinate is coming - of the stuff I've read so far chapter 4 is by far my favorite thing yet.

This was. oh my god. just oh my god. I was honestly not sure how to feel after chapter 10. I was so sure Sartha would literally die and that's what would break Kione but this... oh my god this is so much more evil and so so much worse. I don't think I've ever read something that had me kicking my feet while also leaving a pit in my stomach.

Ok Rescue Hound has been sitting on my mind all day and I need to get out more thoughts about this chapter. I absolutely love despair in general, top emotion, top story element. You nail its use so well. The opening line is fantastic. It plays with our expectations and creates enough foreshadowing to know what the eventual fate of Amynta will be, based on how the previous works have gone. But you leave it dangling as an open thread, weighing on our minds, knowing it'll be called back on. As we're then hit with the gut punch of what Handler is making Sartha do to Kione. Hope was abandoned two chapters ago, hell it was abandoned once Kione's saviour complex kicked in, and all we're left with is despair. It's so perfect. Kione will forever be haunted by Sartha, it doesn't matter how many masks she hides behind, that pain is etched into her heart. Which makes it oh so easy for Handler to control her. They're in hell together after all, and Handler is the devil. And then we get to the ending. The ending we all knew was coming the moment Amynta kept surviving each chapter while others didn't. Personally for me, my thoughts were she would be made into the handler for the mass produced dogs, or she's get Amyntha. I wasn't actually expecting Handler to let her near Sartha again, but I guess She's kinder than I. But I digress. The payoff for the drink line is fantastic. And as greedy as I am in wanting to see what happens next to Amynta, we already know what'll happen to her. You've implied well enough through the themes of the work just how bad-end everyone's stories are. Will Kione somehow catch Pela as her second hound? Who knows, but it wouldn't surprise me from how tragic the story has been for that to happen, especially knowing that she survived last chapter. Regardless, your work is fantastic and you should feel proud. Your writing techniques are top notch, and your narrator's and character's voices are so strong in your writing.

RaspberryWoof

Just finished chapter 10 and there wasn't anyway I could stop reading was there?

KBZ

The way Sartha being ultimately withheld from her to keep her compliant is no more than a passing thought to Kione. Hilariously tragic. Also the way you detailed Amynta's restraints at the end is gonna be on my mind for a bit ghqsjldkfjqdsf

Absolutely spectacular! Can't wait to read more of your work

Now that Rescue Hound is done, I have to thank you for this ride. Reading it helped me understand myself better, deepened my most important connections and gave me inspiration for future artistic projects. I will keep on reading your future works and whenever the physical volume is out, I'm buying it. 🖤💜

Agh my heart... I love just how much of a way into people's hearts Sartha is, and especially Kione's relation to her now as a handler but still kept on a hounds leash, but unable to truly ever have her... It's incredible!! And to pick radio girl of all people for Kione's first is insane... Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Tumble Weed

I had to sub just to get more of Rescue Hound. Felt awful and I absolutely adored every second of it! It's so incredibly tragic that, unlike the Hounds who get the sweet relief of ego death, Kione knows she'll have to fake it for every second of the rest of her life until she forgets who she started as. I like to imagine that she lets the mask slip just one last time with Amynta because she knows it won't matter when her training is finished. I loved every inch of the Warhound series and am excited to see what you'll do in the future with or without it!

WhoreHound

You have no idea how happy I am after reading you will make more stories for WARHOUND🖤

Valerie

I love how bleak this is. Hate her, she deserves it, and she’ll go on to do worse because taking off the mask means confronting who she really is… The fact that Kione knows exactly how all of the Handler’s techniques work now felt like it really emphasizes how big the difference is between the traitors and dogs who actually believed in something before she pried them open and broke them, and Kione herself who started to fall and chose every step of what came next.
