Ngl. I thought the thumbnail was going to be that shot in chapter 5 where Blake grips Yang’s hand and says “Hey… I’m not leaving”.

NEO VS CINDER LET'S GOO! The song playing during the fight was my favorite for weeks (or even months)

Zero Blazer Gaming

Only saw the opening bit at this post. Consitering what some of these next few chapters have she is going to need Haimish for them.

Ep 4: Ugh, the tension in the scene with Salem is just... UGH! I freakin love that scene so much. Salem is so intimidating and she never has to really raise her voice. Jen Taylor's performance gives me chills. The music also just gives me anxiety. In a good way. There's also the small and subtle moment after her big "you can only get what you want through me" speech where she just takes a moment, sighs and says "and so we must press on." Like this woman has wanted to die for centuries and she just can't. (Mainly probably because she also refuses to learn the "lesson" the gods wanted to "teach" her but I digress.) Then there's also the moment where she flips the table with "That wouldn't be fair now" and she said the same thing when the GoL told her he wouldn't bring Oz back. Oh, Salem, honey, you've learned so much and yet so little. Ep 5: Finally, the debut of Neo in the Maya engine. Look at her go! Gotta admit, very entertaining seeing her kick Cinder’s butt until Cinder brings out the Maiden powers. Also the reveal that she’s wearing Roman’s hat! Instantly cluing people in to why she’s after Cinder until she’s redirected to Ruby. Also her fight with Cinder, while small scale and short, is one of my favorites of the volume. The use of the environment and fluidity just really brings it all together. Ugh! My Bees! The miscommunication hurts me! Blake with the right intentions saying the wrong thing! Actually a lot like Jaune back in V3 trying to reassure Pyrrha about her destiny. Lacking context, right thing at the wrong time.

Enchanted_Echo

The ICE CREAM GODDESS HAS RETURNED!! She is personally for me my favorite villain and I am very happy you remembered her immediately when she was shown and happy to see her. I'm happy you're enjoying things so far, especially with everyone having a lot on their mind with everything and your appreciation with added on details of people with Qrow and Yang. I'm wondering how you'll feel what you'll think for what comes next :D.........also sorry for any typos I'm very tired

Mare

Yang's always made her identity as the team's sole protector and "muscle" so for someone else to tell her that they would protect her, is basically her insecurities telling her that she's useless and no longer has a particular role on their team. With the loss of her arm, she's been wrestling with the notion of feeling like a lesser (not so whole) version of herself and she feels like the Team's burden to bear. So for Blake (a person who she really cares about) telling her that she'd protect Yang, she's imagining that Blake thinks less of her and is only showing her pity which is insulting. Which of course isn't true but since she's still working out her issues, it's inevitable.

SportySpice

And thus begins RWBY’s horror detour! The Yang/Blake talk is such a good scene. So close to a breakthrough! I always took her bristling at “I’ll protect you” as layered. Sure, she doesn’t want to be coddled or seen as weak, but she just wants Blake to have been there for her (hence her smiling when Blake says that). So that line makes her feel like it might be out of guilt or pity. I also think it’s so clear that Yang wants a partner - that she values someone who will meet her in the middle, and I think the focus on balance and mutuality between Blake and Yang is so important. The other layer is that the last time Blake left, it was to “protect” her, so it isn’t a consoling line but could mean Blake running. I once saw the Cinder/Neo team up described as a brilliant choice to pair up the woman who never shuts tf up and is bad at her job with the woman who can’t talk and is good at her job. The Cinder/Neo fight is also some of the best post-Monty fight choreo in the show at that point, but a lot of great fights to come. I think Salem being immortal and Oz not having a real plan is what really makes him withholding information such a tough pill. Because he set up these battle schools and has been throwing teens/young adults against an impenetrable wall. Makes him picking Pyrrha as the Fall Maiden look like a pig raised for slaughter. At least from the cast’s POV. Yang is especially angry because not only is she on her guard to question everything (the wisdom imparted from Raven), she’s now questioning how much Raven was right about with Oz (and Salem). It grates a little bit more for her, which I think is a point missed by a lot of viewers.

Flufux

Something to keep in mind with the scene where Ruby and Weiss saw all the wine bottles and Ruby suggested keeping the room closed so Qrow wouldn't find it was that, if you remember a previous conversation between Weiss and Yang, Weiss mentioned that her mother (whom we haven't seen on screen yet) was an alcoholic which made her very distant from her, so she very much relates to Ruby's situation.

Janice Marie Audio

Oh you better have Hamish at arms reach next episode.

LaviPastelQueen

Oh I can't wait for these my fav Grimm is this volume so I'm excited for these episodes just one of the reasons I love vol 6 besides the lore and I love that they brought my fav villain back as well

CrowOfAFeather

Ohohoho here we go! Yeah, Yang took the "I'll protect you" the wrong way. After everything she's been through, she wouldn't want to be considered weak and in need of protection. Especially by the person who left her. + with all this stress and being so tired tends to put you in a negative headspace. I'm so hyped for next week for multiple reasons!

Martin E Melcher

There is little more horrifying than the slow degredation of apathy (my favorite Grimm as well)

FullmetalNinja25

Yang got upset by "I'll protect you" because she thought Blake was implying she can't protect herself.

The Ice Cream Queen's Glorious Return

Zero Blazer Gaming

Post watch. What they deal with in the next chapter is 1 of 2 thing in all of RWBY that I straight up NOPE on. The other is from Ice Queendom.

L Frances

Tyrian is a truly psychotic character. Mentally just very unwell. I think whatever happened to him to make him that way must've been horrifying, cause we know people aren't just born psychotic. Hell, we know from Adam's short that people don't start out as self-obsessed assholes. Different factors feed & exacerbate tendencies that become immensely worse over time. I'm curious if there's more to his backstory that we don't know yet. "Why are they showing this picture?" - There's no deeper lore reason. They're just showing us pictures of a happy community, which deepens the question of "What the hell happened to this place?" It's also just unsettling to see pictures of parents & kids smiling, knowing that in every house they're just... rotting. It's really one of the most messed up things RWBY has shown. Real deep Brothers Grimm horrific fairy tale vibes. I... would absolutely not open up a locked cellar door in a creepy house in a town full of death, are you kidding me!? No! Now I'm wondering what kind of D&D player you are if you would. I have friends who are *constant* button-pushers & lever-pullers, while my characters are always like "Can we *not* court danger & chaos at every turn? We know from experience it'll find us without us looking!" "Lotsa canned food, though? Why?" - Well, there is a snowstorm raging outside, so I imagine it's in case they're snowed in. Haha, I do think the fact this show is so lore & mystery heavy can train people to look for the secrets behind... a literal food & wine pantry in a rural townhouse.

Dre

• I love seeing the infighting between Salem’s forces. Tyrian will do whatever he wants for her because he’s basically a religious fundamentalist who is also a violent murderer. Meanwhile Emerald and Mercury are there only because Cinder brought them into the larger group, and the moment she’s gone they were ready to throw down with Tyrian. • Maria rocks. She’s not only funny, but a good level-head to have while our main cast are having to cope with the sudden impossibility of winning in the long-term. She adds a lot to Volume 6. • Neo and Cinder’s fight is sooo cool. Love the song too. • The horror movie vibes in chapter 5 (minus the fight at the start but in their defense idk where that could have gone) immaculate. The right blend of dread and cozy. I love that part where Blake wraps a blanket around Weiss to comfort her after the latter saw the corpses upstairs. Sweet moment.

Xylia

I will say when I initially watched this I was so triggered by RWBY’s and Qrow’s reaction to Oz’s backstory. While I understand the frustration with the lies of not knowing Salem couldn’t be destroyed, the animosity towards Oz I felt was misplaced, especially when you consider just minutes before Jen revealed his past that Oz explained that there are reasons for the things that he does backed by experience, and that Lionheart wasn’t the first to betray him after learning the truth. So they completely validated all his anxieties and methods with keeping things close to the chest. Then add in that Oz was forced into this responsibility of balancing humanity, the lack of empathy or even a willingness to understand his position really bothered me. Again, not negating their despair and frustrations, but taking it out on Oz just felt so wrong. But I do appreciate the representation of accurate human emotions, where they do drive you at times and as you said, the show taking it’s time to breathe. But Oz was right in my opinion to not share everything because humanity would go into a panic and he wouldn’t be able to assemble teams of hunters and huntresses while trying to figure out how to overcome this all. I think it’s also important to bear in mind that everyone is seeing the resolve as destroying Salem, but that wasn’t what the God of Light asked of Oz.

Wizzywod

Ah. The actually somewhat scary episodes. Exciting.

futureguy51

One thing to understand about the cold is that their auras protect them from most of the effects of the cold; however, using their auras to protect themselves from the cold means they are slowly and constantly draining their aura. The colder it is, the faster it drains their auras.

Solus

I love Tyrian as a villain, he is so deranged, insane, and psychotic, also do you think Elijah would like Star Trek: Lower Decks, it seems like the show would be something she would like, just my opinion on the matter.

Blake's Adventures

SO Excited for the next ones! These are some of my absolute favorite parts!

Ryan

Elijah, you're playing with fire letting Hamish twerk. Your Catra body pillow is *right there* when Mosco records. If your analysis of Blake and Yang is correct, do you vocal warm-ups. I anticipate several seasons of screaming "these useless Sapphics!"

bloodyshadow1

Hear me out about Salem. Shes hot and goth and I'm really gay

Rachel Mae

What I'm getting from this is Elijah's ass would not survive in a horror movie lmao I'm not opening any chained locked doors in a creepy abandoned home filled with people who seemingly withered away in their sleep no ma'am speaking of though I can't believe just how quick they give away how the people of Brunswick Farm died. I mean really all they had stocked in the estate storeroom are "shrimp flavored extra sodium beans" and alcohol. Poor folks shat the bed.... literally 😔

Kiesen

I'm half asleep typing this so that sure was an interesting intro to make me wake up: - It sucks that the episodes are a little short right now but you'll appreciate where they actually put the time this volume. - Blake's cat ears are getting so expressive and I fucking Love it. - There is indeed one more question. Make your guesses. - If you think Tyrian is a freak now you haven't seen anything yet lmao. - Jen Taylor already gives Salem a creepy performance, but they definitely put a lot of intentional detail and direction in her sound design. There's so many subtle sounds and music cues. - The divorce continues to be devastating. - Lmao yeah they use Ruby for scale in most concept art. - We haven't seen her since Volume 3. Ruby engaged her umbrella while fending off Torchwick and she got picked up by the wind. - One Thing is a great song btw. You should listen to it in full. It tells you a lot about Neo's motivations. - Also, deeply comical that there's 2 entire songs that are basically just "Cinder I'm going to fucking kill you." (All Things Must Die and One Thing) - Anyone else feel a little something when Cinder yells "LISTEN!"? - God I love when RWBY gets spooky. You'd think the writers who generally leans toward comedy wouldn't be able to pull it off but hoooo boy do they pull it off. And then some. - Interesting commentary on Blake and Yang. No comment. - I appreciate that RWBY does a lot of its heavier commentary without being ham-fisted. No annoying therapy speak or looking directly at the camera like this is a Saturday morning cartoon.

jessie H

Not so much scary as in creepy and uncomfortable.

Ryan

Well we know how much she loves a cat girl... IYKYK

SportySpice

Co-signed on Lower Decks. I was bummed it didn’t make the finals in her future react list.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

I feel like the fact that Ozpin just kept lying to them, even after repeatedly promising not to do it, that they felt like they couldn't trust him anymore. Not to mention him not having a plan to defeat Salem means he was gambling with their lives the whole time.

Xylia

Yeah. I mean, that’s why Hazel resents him and believes him responsible for his sister’s death. Their anger is justified, but I think given the weight of what Oz’s was tasked with and what he had just been trying to explain about why he keeps things close to the chest, that their lashing out at him felt misplaced, but not displaced. As I said, the apathy, anger and despair is understood and they probably needed time to reflect. But again, Oz was just trying to explain why he does the things he does. And his concern of the anxiety and strong emotions them knowing the full story would attract Grim is proven valid. I do think he should have told Qrow, if nothing else. But again, his inner circle has betrayed him (Lionheart and Raven plus however many others), so again, it’s not an excuse, but it’s a reason and I think deserved some compassion and empathy.

Isadora

Oz assembling teams of hunters and huntresses is a bit similar to what Salem did when she manipulated humans to go against the gods. Those people had no idea that they wouldn't have had a chance against them, just like our team and everyone else before them had no idea Salem can't die. I would've wanted to know what I was signing up for.

Ryan

She'll wrap up Dragon Prince by October, mayhaps we have a second chance... After all, what is Star Trek Lower Decks but RWBY in SPAAAAAAAAAAAAACE ... at least on the superficial similarity of a quartet of main characters.

Vince

HOLY MOTHERFUCK ITS THE *ICE CREAM TRUCK* 🩷🤍🤎

LikeCat

Yes... ... Also why can I think Froggy would say something like this?

Vince

…my next disposable income will be spent on an Alex Brightman cameo to have him sing this song in Fizz voice

Eric Smith

Hm, this might be Elijah's earliest dialog prediction yet. She hasn't even met M[redacted] lol

LikeCat

Like seriously whenever you post a comment under anything I am like ,,Why does it sound like Fizz (or sometimes Ozzie) would say stuff like that?"

Jittercritter

I was going to scold you for vague spoilers but I actually can’t tell what you’re talking about and I’m obsessed with this show

Jittercritter

Cinder vs Neo legitimately has some of my favorite choreography of the whole show. Also Weiss was definitely thinking of her mom in the basement bar (remember she told Yang that her mother drank whole bottles of wine)—but I always found the way she looks at Ruby as she continues onward especially interesting. Ruby mentions that her uncle has problems with alcohol and decides to take it upon herself to prevent him from finding some, then proceeds as usual without dwelling on it. I can’t help but wonder if Weiss is thinking back to how bubbly and ‘incompetent’ she found Ruby in season 1; to think she went through something similar to herself and turned out COMPLETELY different. Just an interesting little moment between them I always found was too overlooked. There’s also the fact that Weiss was easily the most disturbed by the people in the bed, AND the fact that Weiss clearly resents the idea of canned food meanwhile Ruby is clearly excited for it because to her food is food. Lots of subtle juxtaposition with Weiss this episode, and another example of how RWBY does subtext really really well. Also yeah RoosterTeeth was always savage with the cliffhangers, even back in the semi-early Red vs Blue days.

Cinder's Apologist

thank you. it's not easy to always remember that Aura is a thing in this world much less how it effectively shields the characters through a lot, so it's great to remember in moments like this.

Jittercritter

AND YOUVE TAKEN IT FROM ME!! 🗣️ 🗣️

Cinder's Apologist

yep, they're doing just fine. everyone is doing just fine :P they can ask Jinn one more question, yes. which keeps the lamp relevant as they move forward... I want to break down the significance of Salem's whole deal (no big spoilers, I promise): first off, Salem already knew it was Cinder's fault, so to speak. because just before Lionheart got killed, he blabbed to Salem that Cinder altered the plan thus undermining their efforts to grab the lamp. so Salem KNOWS the answer; she's just making a very specific point in her own cryptic way. this is why her focus on Emerald matters... because Salem knows that Emerald is only there because Cinder recruited her, and that Emerald looks up to Cinder. to quote Emerald: "I owe Cinder everything." so Salem's message in that scene is "We will not be going after Cinder, and YOU Emerald are NOT going to help her." what Salem says about "love, justice, reverence" isn't off base; it does apply to each of her minions - for example, Emerald loves Cinder and has followed her around until very recently. now, Salem asserts that those desires must not come before what SALEM wants. hell yes, the return of Neopolitan! been a while since v3 and big agree that her updated model is so so good <3 I was waiting for Elijah to zoom in on the scene in the barn. love how she called it as to what would happen. and valid take on why Yang is being Like That right now. finally... DO NOT OPEN CREEPY CELLAR DOORS!

Jittercritter

The fact that he specifically chose SCHOOLS which train TEENAGERS to secretly protect the relics is also worthy of criticism, and lends more credibility to Hazel’s outrage over his sister’s death. Not to mention Ozpin also manipulated people into thinking he was a god right alongside Salem, and incited war on their behalf. Did he eventually realize it was wrong and turn on her? Yes. But he still did it. And you can argue it’s been lifetimes, but remember that that’s an incomprehensible amount of time to normal people. WE can empathize with him because we are removed from the situation and we have been exposed to the concept and consequences of immortality in many other stories. But them? That’s their world. Those are their people. It doesn’t matter that it was centuries ago, he still incited religious violence and zealotry. Kind of a startling thing to find out your only guide in a recently-discovered-to-be-futile war was hiding from you. (This is coming from someone who LOVES Ozpin btw. I love him because it’s totally understandable why people in-universe hate him, but also why he does what he does. He’s a very complex character and in my opinion, an excellent use of immortality as a concept). Also also, remember that there’s a more personal layer for Yang and Qrow via Raven. Remember that Raven explicitly warns both of them not to trust Ozpin, and it turns out the whole time she had a legitimate reason. Which begs the question: how much does she know, and how does she know it?

Aaron williams

Every time neo pulls a Mary poppins with her umbrella it’s so incredible. That’s exactly why I think Weiss is the most well written character of the show. Her perspective coming from someone who was perceived as just privileged to understanding that wealth was her prison and how she sees the world around her differently but still is open minded and empathetic. It’s so well done it’s easy do poorly with a character like hers and they always hit the mark.

Aaron williams

I love this part of this volume since it has a horror element it’s so subtle and eerie but doesn’t take away from the overall tone of the show I think it’s because it’s so perfectly placed after the lost fable.

Eric Smith

I was about to say something about that would at least narrow down the character I meant, looked at the comment, got REALLY tempted to try and be clever with it, and decided it wasn't worth the risk of spoiling 😅

Bryan Forquer

So, a fair amount to unpack with these two episodes. It's understandable that everyone would be upset with Ozpin after everything that was just revealed. But he did not deserve what they did to him. They all saw how much pain and suffering he had to endure. Having to reincarnate and die over and over again, each time failing to stop Salem. Yet they still chose to kick him while he was down, even Ruby chose to have no compassion or empathy towards Ozpin. Also Neo is back, honestly Neo is one of my least favorite characters in RWBY. I think the writers made her way too overpowered! Cinder should've been able to beat Neo pretty easily, but it was only when Cinder unleashed her maiden powers that she was actually was able to turn the tide. I can't stand Maria's character either, I just find her annoying. As for the Blake and Yang moment, us Bumbleby fans definitely live for the angst. The reason Yang was upset was because Yang felt that Blake was treating her like she needs protecting or that she can't protect herself. Yang wants someone who'll treat her as an equal, and doesn't want Blake to do all the fighting while Yang is stuck on the sidelines. That is what Blake didn't understand. You are definitely gonna love the next episodes, I can't wait till next week!!

Alexis Cardillo

Finally caught back up! And right when we get back into the horror aspect! Last time we saw Neo was the ending half of vol 3 so it's been a while.

NamelessSoul

I am finally able to watch these as they come out. Neo looks so freaking good in this style. Oof the Yang and Blake angst is rough but I agree with Elijah, one of of my favorite things RWBY did was take time with their trauma. I swear we need another RWBY slot its just not enough 😭

Lee Goldberg

I'm wondering, though it's probably deliberate in order to keep the plot moving in the direction it does, that nobody brings up the fact that just because Salem can't be physically killed, that does not mean there are a bunch of other options for stopping her. They could trap her (maybe in one of those separate dimensions that the relics are kept in), look into some way to weaken her powers, make it so she cannot control the Grim anymore, etc.,

Lee Goldberg

When we see Neo wearing Roman's hat, it's also shown that her clothes have little rips on them, so her appearance in the bar was an illusion.

Lee Goldberg

I like the fact that Neo is mute. Besides it meaning her facial expressions are more focused, I don't think there are a lot of mute antagonists in anime/cartoons. LOTS of people who are blind, and some deaf, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen someone who's mute. I think it's only possible in this animation style, since it allows clearer and more subtle facial expressions as opposed to 2D animation.

Arashi

While Weiss is my favorite character on the whole, I do love Neo's fighting style, and she's /really/ good at it. 'One Thing' is such an awesome fight/promise song. Was a nice touch that when Cinder 'revealed' Neo in the ally, not only did she have Torchwick's hat, but her face had evidence of her grief. There used to be a fan theory that Neo and Torchwick were from Brunswick, though at least the Neo part has been put to ended, it lead to some fascinating ideas in some of the various RWBY fanfics I've read over the years. Yang is upset with the Oz history, probably less so about Raven... but there is still the fact that Blake ran from them(her). AAAaaannnd they both still has some Adam issues lingering around. It was also of note that when Blake promised to be there, it was Yang's prosthetic hand she held without hesitation. My... isn't it so interesting that everything's caught up to them all at once here? My, my. Well, if they're tired they should sleep right?

Evil Queen

I… I would not open that cellar door, that’s exactly how people die in horror films. By being curious… Another great reaction Elijah!

Artemis Delphinia

Don't sleep on the White Rose ship lmao. But yeah it's always good to see Neo return. And she gets her own theme which is so good. This is still my favorite volume just above Volume 9.

Vex Valor

Hello no I would not open the creepy cellar doors that are locked especially when already in a wine cellar. It's locked for a reason. If not something horrifying, then it's probably alcohol however we ALREADY ARE IN the wine cellar so that rules out that possibility. XD

Whiskey

Just to throw this out there, Tyrian gets to have a lot of sass with Emerald and Mercury because he could absolutely kill the both of them, likely without breaking a sweat. Remember that he took on RNJR + Qrow, and only retreated because Ruby got a lucky hit when he was attacking Qrow.

Hollyhock

If you'll remember, Weiss spoke in her talk with Yang in v5 about her own mother's alcohol abuse. It gives Weiss's "Oh." All the more weight.

Phoenix_mercury

Tbf I've seen stuff where the locked section of wine cellars is for stuff not for regular use or use *yet* like stuff that's aging so it's locked away to prevent access

Phoenix_mercury

Small but important detail, blake didn't promise to "be there" she said she'd "protect" her, not the same thing

Phoenix_mercury

Even worse for Oscar as unlike the others he's much newer to it

Phoenix_mercury

If u mean when Yang asked and he "agreed" no he didn't, wording is important, he said "understood" not "yes/ok/I accept ect"

Phoenix_mercury

Yeah about Tyri my theory is scorpion Faunus born in a location that's anti-faunus(we've seen such businesses so not impossible for whole settlements) with likely MH issues, that was obviously not noticed or cared about, pushed and provoked by said settlement until he snapped and started killing(possibly even initially as self defence) which got people to leave him alone until eventually Salem found him and could have easily promised no one would ever harm him again if he followed her or he could kill anyone he wanted if he followed he and we've seen she's a master manipulator so it likely wasn't hard to get him to depend on her(just look at his reaction to being told he'd disappointed her) also we know he *had* a family as he has a known family name so it's not out of the question for them to have been his first victims(possibly for not protecting him or even for being anti-faunus themselves, either in general or because he's a "dangerous one" being a scorpion)

Phoenix_mercury

Yeah it's same reason why she took Tai's joke well, he wasn't coddling her, he was treating her as a regular person i.e. as she wanted

Phoenix_mercury

And this sorta thing is why mosco doesn't read comments anymore...

Beowolf Chow

Salem's crashout is completely justified, and the voicework for her is fantastic. Just that little break in her voice as she says "Please explain to me how you fa-iled soo spectacularly" conveys such an incredible amount of rage, barely being held back. After all, the plan she set up was that her minions walk in the front door, get an escort to the vault, and walk out "no one the wiser." Then the White Fang demolish the CCT tower, and add to the global chaos. And her minions managed to not only fail to get the relic, but fail to destroy the CCT, lose their White Fang and Lionheart pawns, get exposed to both the authorities which undermined the distrust they sowed at the fall of Beacon, and confirmed their goals to Oz's crew. It's not just a failure, it's a catastrophe; if everyone had stayed home, they would have been better off. Years of work down the drain... all thanks to Cinder's ego.

Bug Catcher Jacky

Am I the only one who feels REALLY bad for Oz? Literally none of his past was his fault. The only mistake he made here was not telling them and I really don't think it warrants THAT kind of treatmeant. They just found out the love of his life is his mortal enemy and he was literally on the ground, crying and they decided to kick him some more. I would've left too. Also Qrow not apologizing for punching Ozcar is kind of... eh. He's a child, AND innocent

Christopher Groenewald

Up until now, team RWBY thought that Salem was a powerful witch who could not be allowed to get her hands on the relics or the results could be damning for everyone. Ozpin hid the true stakes of their mission and the true threat Salem posed. An immortal being older than human civilization itself wants to use the relics to destroy the world and there is nothing anyone can do to stop her. Ozpin was ready to throw team RWBY at Salem without a plan to actually beat her and didn't tell them that. He was sending them to almost certain death just to disrupt Salem's plans

Christopher Groenewald

The fact that Yang took Ozpin's betrayal harder than everyone else actually is justified. After what her mother told her in V5, she was already on shaky ground when it came to trusting Ozpin. She only stayed because she trusted Ruby's judgement and under the condition Oz never lie to them again. Then the first thing he does is lie to them. Ozpin didn't just lie to Yang. She went against her better judgement and Ozpin a second chance to redeem her trust in him and he may as well have spat in her face.
