Anyone else notice a link between every silver eyed warrior? Like characters to the story of Little red Riding Hood.

Solus

Salem has only been alive for thousands of years not millions of years, still a long time though but not millions of years.

PheonixCantra

May's pronouns are in fact she/her.

Kriscerosaurus

Are we sure? It was long enough for mankind to return (re-evolve?) without the gods’ influence…

Kriscerosaurus

God, RWBY is so good when it’s in horror mode

Fred Smith

When we saw the guy inside the hound...what color were his eyes?

Suplee215

Will Ozpin just make that story up? Guy has a history of lies and half truths. He lied to his closest allies about the lamp being out of wishes. He made the cover story for tbe entire world. You can even frame the academies as manipulation because they are secretly protecting the relics ttje world dont know about. Hazel is like what if right after the group learned about ozpin's true history theybwere found be Salem. Or what if raven joined salem . I do think most of Oz's lies were justified but Hazel found out the huntsman academies had a secret purpose thar put them in danger not fully known (the fact that the grims are coordinated by someone is major difference). Its easy to frame it as Ozpin made his own army to fight Salem without telling them who salem is. It has some flaws but I can get that thinking.

Dreanner95

It was actually Willow how summoned the Grimm to save Whitley. Remember, the Summons are hereditary.

MESSAGE FOR MODS: Just in case you didn't see this last time, I know she's already seen 10, but I'd give a trigger warning for sensitive themes of death and SI for the last two episodes of this volume. I don't know if the files she has come with the content warnings that they put at the beginning of the episodes but just in case. Ep 7: The disconnect of how people in Atlas were having picnics and carrying on while Mantle has been just trying to survive for the last couple days (really every day but especially these last couple) really just sums up the biggest problem with this Kingdom. And the fact that James was so sure in his shields (even though he acknowledged in episode one that they wouldn’t hold forever) that he didn’t have the civilians of Atlas evacuated anyway, just in case, is just really… well, in line with his character I suppose. An evolution of Ren’s semblance! He’s basically become a walking Vibe Check. It’s such a good moment because he’s finally letting himself feel his feelings. And yikes, Harriet telling members of Team JNPR about how you should just replace your teammate and move on? She couldn’t know but yikes. Though, I’m guessing Tortuga was the tortoise to Harriet’s hare. I love the reveal of Winter’s emotions just being a giant mess. Like, girl, been there. Also… “I outrank you.” Ma’am. Ma’am. Winter, my queen. Let’s freakin go. Something about that line delivery really just tickles something in my brain. I love this woman. Ep 8: Got to give it to CRWBY. They know how to do horror. The man inside the Grimm had Silver Eyes. Love that when it came down to it, Willow chose her kids. It doesn’t fix everything, but it’s a start. On top of that we actually got to see Willow summon. Makes sense since it’s a Schnee Semblance. Look at that, a few hours without Jacques and Whitley gets to be a good kid.

SportySpice

I always found Salem’s immortality as the villain so fascinating. Her convoluted suicide pact makes perfect sense and is such a hopeless and interesting set up for her as the Big Bad. Even funnier seeing Mercury realize they are in a death cult as Tyrian drags him away. Seeing Atlas having a nice picnic while Mantle has been freezing and fighting for their lives sure was a stark contrast. I think we all lost our minds at “I outrank you.” Winter is wife for sure. The confirmation of May was so badass honestly. Framing it as triumphant independence both against her family and also in fighting for Mantle. Such a clever way to confirm it. RWBY does horror so well to be honest. The Hound is truly terrifying and you can tell the RWBY devs know and love the horror genre well.

Solus

I looked it up to make sure because I wasn't sure myself

Isadora

The fact that the person inside the hound is a faunus isn't what should really catch the eye ... :P

NatMcK7

The faunus grim also has Silver Eyes

Jason S

Also her VA is trans

Dre

The glyphs are hereditary. The summoning power is one part of the overall glyph semblance.

Dre

Remember back in volume 4 when Weiss was being hit on by the fuckboi with blue hair at the party after the concert? That was Henri Marigold—May’s cousin. That’s who she refers to when she says “Henri”. Also Elijah’s reaction to May being trans is so perfect. The long “ohhhhhhhhhhh” as she’s cheering could be clipped and used for various other moments in shows. 😂

Taigan

I haven’t heard Elijah say it in her videos so I’m not sure if she’s aware of the deal with Klein. He has several personalities. One is a doctor. One is angry. One is shy. One sneezes. I expect he has 3 more we didn’t see in this episode.

Luke Teasdale

for the last few minute of this I was just shouting at my screen, look at the eye colour Elijah!!!! its ok I forgive her for not noticing because of everything else that happens in that scene XD

dainbramage7

Now imagine having to wait a month and a half between these two episodes. Those holiday breaks were rough.

LikeCat

Dark was the first episode I watched „live" ... Yeah... It was a lot (also fun fact it is RWBY's 100th episode)

CB Jones

My favorite little detail from the airship is that while Ren and Jaune are both just handcuffed, Yang has 2 Ace ops literally holding her down the entire time. She clearly made an impression. I've never really questioned if Weiss could be anyone elses daughter, let alone Klein's. But I suppose it would explain why she's so short. Also I may be misremembering this, but I believe there's around 5 years between each of the Schnee siblings. So Weiss is 20 at this point, Winter is 25 and Whitley is 15.

SauceyRed

Oh yeah here we go lmao

RetroBeastto

We know what’s in the hound grim but by any chance to you pay attention to the Faunus’ eye? Also also when we learned about May’s story with her coming out as a trans woman she briefly mentions her younger brother Henry Marigold. Henry was the character that was flirting with Weiss at the Beacon charity all the way back in Volume 4. Just a fun thing to point out.

Curtis Murphy

Why did you act like Hazel tearing Salem apart was horrific and meant there was "something wrong with him"? I don't know, I think you're being a bit unfair towards Hazel. I mean, if an immortal witch comes looking for you and you can't seem to kill them, I would go for the overkill

LikeCat

Younger cousin... But yes

Enchanted_Echo

Soooooo with the hound there was one small detail you've missed with our faunus friend is that along with Ruby, they have SILVER eyes and by process of elimination from someone who we know is currently M.I.A with silver eyes, want to guess what may have happened to them. As fitting as the title goes "Dark" that reveal is quite dark and twisted and with info how all that happened that is a good question because as I'm aware not much is known about it except by the look of things.....silver eyed people are the target. I was wondering how'd you react to May being trans and it did not disappoint, I really enjoyed how even with a few secondary characters they did a great job expanding who they are in that short timeframe. One thing with RWBY I do adore is with it's LGBTQ rep is they don't over do it and make their rep their character it's in a way a fun fact to know about them and they make it so natural and not make a dramatic reveals from it, as it should be and May's voice actress, also is trans as a bonus As you saw with Ren......welcome to semblance evolution! The best way to describe this is with My Hero Academia with you training a lot and honing your abilities with your semblance/quirk will start to evolve. Ren almost got it back during Volume 7 during "A Day Off" from training. (Green = Zen, Blue = Sadness, Purple = Fear, Red = Rage/Confusion, ??? = ???) You will see more of that down the road. I never really thought about Weiss actually being Klein being daughter, that may be a stretch but it is neat to think about. Also another fun fact about Dark.........It was the 100th episode of RWBY!!

CrowOfAFeather

See, the thing with Hazel - of course this doesn't justify his choices and actions - that he and his sister, Gretchen, are based on Hansel and Gretel. We can assume that they only had each other and no other family, so for him to lose his sister during a training mission of all things it's only too easy to understand why he would spiral. Even in real life we have people grieving a loved one and lashing out, blaming everything and everyone but the person who made the choices that unfortunately led to the tragedy. Coupled with Salem's manipulation, corrupting Hazel, and him finding out that Salem can't be killed, and you have this vengeance-driven man. It's not far-fetched that he'd be pushed down such a road. I don't think they've established May's pronouns, but since she's with the "Happy Huntresses" I'd assume She/Her. :) Also, fun fact, you've met May's cousin. The guy, Henry, who tried to flirt with Weiss in V4 at the charity party? Yep, Henry Marigold. Correct! Ren's Semblance just evolved! They mentioned it back in V5 that they can still grow and evolve, and here's out first proper example of it :D "I outrank you." Yeeaahh....we all had that kind of moment when we heard the line... The boarbatusk charging into the hound wasn't actually Weiss, it was Willow's ;) ^^ Aaaand now we know what the Hound is. The person being a Faunus is of little relevance, but something else about this poor soul is a lot more relevant. Great reaction as always! To think you've gotten this far already and soon you'll be in the same boat as us, waiting for V10 :D

Enchanted_Echo

Not sure this is considered spoilery but to find out the other personalities as they won't show up in the main show (thus far), watch RWBY Chibi and that should help you out ;)

Enchanted_Echo

**Important Message for RWBY Volume 8 to those who watch** The next 2 episodes as already recorded are going to have flashing lights that may be distressing to some photosensitive people who may watch it so be careful out there for episode 9&10 same goes for 13 when we get there As we are getting closer and don't know if another jumble of episodes will be filmed together I will say this for the next few episodes The Season finale (episode 14) however will have some certain themes about *death* that may be distressing for some viewers so please keep that in mind when watching

Evil Queen

We didn’t see Blake react to the hound, we saw Ruby and her reaction. Why would we see just her reaction? What eye color did the hound have in his one eye? Just some questions to think on Elijah, I’d go back and rewatch that scene again.

Tammy Ragsdale

I outrank you. Yes, ma'am! Ren is, specifically, at this point, seeing suppressed emotions. My thoughts are: Red is anger, the Orange is that red with a Yellow for caution, Marrow's blue is obviously sadness/sorrow, and I think the Green, rather than being peaceful, is more likely the desire to be passive and let it all go. Ren's suppressing being in love, that's why his leaves are Pink. There are theories, too, that the way they drift down, either falling straight and gentle or floating around chaotically, also means something. And Winter is so conflicted; she's feeling so much. She does the right thing and lets them go, but they are going to have to do what they can to stop the Whale from spewing out Grimm. Hesitating in delivering the bomb is only going to get more people killed. It's a good compromise, all things considered.

RavenFairy

For the Grimm big bad wolf I do love the old call out of the old little red riding hood story where the woodsman/ or huntsman killed the wolf and grandma came out of the belly.

alex duskfall

She's the Grandma, hound is big bad wolf, Ruby red Riding, and mother is to the huntsman

Sapphic Sam v2

I remember a popular fan theory when the hound first appeared was that it was Summer under all that Grimm.

Magikltrevr

May Marigold is voiced by the wonderful Kdin Jenzen, who is also a trans woman! She helped write the scene of May revealing she is trans.

Jittercritter

I strongly believe that Salem created the Faunus. In a World of Remnant it states that some believe Faunus predate humans, but in The Lost Fable we see that isn’t true. I think Faunus predate MODERN humans because after the gods left Salem alone, she tried to cure her loneliness with the only other life force she had left: animals. After all, Ozpin turned humans into animals (Qrow and Raven) so who’s to saw with thousands of years on her hands, Salem wouldn’t have found a way to do the opposite?

Ryan

Chapter 7: I'm just glad the Atlas military stayed in formation when the battle started instead of running headlong into a chaotic melee. I hate that trope. Winter: "I outrank you." Elijah: "Yes you do..." Somehow fitting that our first confirmed trans character's semblance is invisibility. As Ren said, some say a Huntsman personality influences their semblance; others say it's the other way around. My head cannon is that a semblance can be what they needed in that moment... and Ren unlocking more of his semblance just validated that. Which ... what will he see when he sees Yake and Blang standing next to each other? Chapter 8: Tai's daughters are SCARY when their girlfriends are in danger. The fact that this super Grimm had silver eyes, the fact that Summer Rose is missing, the fact that Summer faced Salem at least once... I can guess what a future boss fight will be. Blake will be there like, "am I the only one here without mommy issues?"

Atticus Yaps

And here I thought the hound had a different base, since it appears to be a fox faunus in the hound The Fox IN The Hound, if you will

GreenVampire Gamer

I don’t know if anyone caught onto when it comes to the hound but…I don’t know if it’s just me but it had silver eyes

cipher

For copy right stuff something you might want to consider is going to air pods or the like for your own listening. That way your microphone and the show will be two separate audio tracks. You can then just mute the show audio for any song and blur the image if that's what it takes. This way you tube can still get the full reaction with basically 0 risk of a copy right issue.

Celly

I don't see other comments about one important fact for you. May is a trans character that originally was part of the Marigold family in Atlas. Weiss Schnee has crossed paths with Henry Marigold before. In Volume 4 (my favorite volume) Chapter 6 (Tipping Point), Henry flirted with Weiss at a charity event from the SDC. Weiss has begun her transformation from uptight, self-serving, snobbish brat to the Weiss Schnee we have come to love. She threw Henry out of the party.

EDHPlayer

So fun fact, the choir that sings at the end, when translated into English, reads as such: “You, silver-eyed warrior, Salem took me. Don’t fret for me, don’t cry…Your silver eyes saw me.”

Cameron

Pretty sure thats a spoiler

Stabby_Taco

I was going to say all of this so I'm glad you said it! I love this show so much with how deep and complex the characters and story are 😊

Phoenix_mercury

no, its an "if you notice, great" but its not a spoiler, some people notice immedietly and some dont

Migli

its not really a spoiler you see his face its just not that noticeable if youre not looking for it in the moment

Dyamalos

It was pretty obviously silver, We get a full on face shot with the one eye wide open. I think she was just too distracted by *everything else* that was on his face to notice, but she's been analyzing eye color since the start.

Isadora

Something I just noticed is that the people in Atlas not only are not aware of anything that is happening below them, but they also are wearing t-shirts... while everyone in Mantle is freezing to death.

Cmdrwilkens

So its a very small thing but I think one of the most impactful points with Ren being the one to say "No One is replaceable" is of course the fact that the Voice Actor is Neath Oum, the brother of Monty who started voicing Ren after Monty passed.

Bug Catcher Jacky

I love how Cinder throws Watts over her shoulder like she's sweeping her princess off his feet xD

Bug Catcher Jacky

I love how you describe one personality as "one's a doctor" and then "one sneezes" xD Great personalities lmao

Rain

Why would you remind me of that TT-TT we miss you Monty.

Ann_Temki

Funny fact admits a dark episode: when Willow and Whitely are about to push the armour, Willow’s ass was too big to fit in frame probably so the animator had to basically break her spine to make her fit normally

AromaticButterfly

2 things about the hound. #1 What did Ozpin say to Ruby when they first met? and #2 ... that isn't facial hair on the hound's chin.

AromaticButterfly

oh my GOD thank you i needed a good cry today RIP Monty

Mitch

Key detail to be aware of, what color are the hound faunus's eyes?

.

May Marigold's pronouns are She/Her. And fun fact, Weiss met one of the Marigolds at the charity party back in Volume 4. It's the guy (Henry) who was flirting with her in front of the painting. He was just 'there for the drinks and good company', didn't even know what the party was for. He was a dick. I think he's May's cousin or something like that.

EmberPanther

Now you have the full reveal of the hound! A couple notes that you maybe have (understandably) missed: The poor Faunus inside the Hound was actually a fox Faunus, therefore making the whole creature “the fox in the Hound”, and the reason they focused on Ruby’s reaction to the reveal is that the visible eye on his face is sliver.

Eric Smith

Not a real language. Some song gibberish making software's language output, I'd have to look up the name.

Arashi

Dark is one of the most intense episodes of the volume if not the series. So much happening even beyond the Hound. Kind of sad that the Ruby/Blake interaction is one of the first times those two directly interacted with each other alone, but the subject was wholesome and let Ruby (and us) know what was in our favorite catgirl's head about Ruby. She /really/ needed to hear that. The borbatusk that saved Whitley wasn't Weiss'. That one was (believed to be) Willow's, and if Winter's words back in volume 3 are still fully true... At some point before Jackass, Willow fought and beat a Grimm. I need a spin-off series about the parent's generation. STRQ, Willow, Khali, Ghira and Sienna... I need more about them! Watt's plan, 'James is forcing me to have Penny open the vault? Okay, such a shame he never put rules on what happens afterwards. If Salem can't have the power, it's better to toss it into the wilds'.

Ryan

At this point I can pretty confidently say that Winter "I outrank you" Schnee and Cinder "Don't think; obey" Fall are the forms Elijah's shoulder angel and demon take.

milkystross

A few notes 1. May is a trans woman who uses she/her pronouns, also voiced by a trans woman, Kdin Jenzen. We met her asshole family member, Henry, back in volume 4 2. The summoned grimm that saved Whitley was summoned by Willow! All members of the schnee bloodline, except Whitley, can use glyphs and summon 3. Take a gooood look at the faunus in the Hounds eye...

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

I have read so many interpretations of what that synthesized choir is "supposed" to be singing, but few this poetic. Certainly beats the one about it just repeating "zombie" over and over.

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

It's hard to say exactly how old Salem is at this point, but Remnant itself can only be a couple million years old at this point, because the moon is not tidally locked yet.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

Okay, Hazel ripping Salem to shreds is a pretty valid reaction to the immortal queen of Grimm showing up to make you a job offer. I don't think that says anything about Hazel's psychology. Ren just took one look at Winter and went "Not unpacking THAT" So you might not have noticed, but the faunus in the Hound had Silver Eyes. Yeah... you could say it's certainly "dark".

defy4bees

Weiss, Blake and Yang are 19, with Ruby being 17 at this point in the show

.

Henry is May's cousin, not brother.

Enchanted_Echo

A bit off RWBY, topic also I'm sorry about the dumb copyright mechanic going on for you, it's not fair with just a tiny bit of sound makes everything invalid even when you're careful about it and people like seeing your reactions with HH coming out with it's new season and you with RWBY on here as well especially with the FNDM adoring your reactions. I don't have a lot of advice on the matter as YT as of late has been nothing but butt hurt as of late and it really is unfair even after the work you and your editor go through and even more stuff just to make it go through shouldn't have to happen...........I will say this though, just keep moving forward with that determination it will go a long way.

Phoenix_mercury

or that just how remnants moon is, unlike ours...

milkystross

Oh whoops, thought i knew everything about this show

SauceyRed

A cool fun thing from the wiki regarding the choir at the end of Dark, after the Hound was defeated: "The choir in the score that plays on the Hound's reveal was created by Alex Abraham using the Voxos Epic Choir software. While not being any specific language, the choir is shown to have an intended meaning that is not to be taken as lyrics to the piece. The intended meaning for the piece is not canonical representation or reflection of any presumed insight about the characters. Voxos Gibberish: Tu, "Sivo-Eisa Voria", Sarehma tayka me. Donu frayst vo me, donu cri... U-tu sivo-eisa me. Intended Lyrics: You, silver-eyed warrior, Salem took me. Don't fret for me, don't cry... Your silver eyes saw me."

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

That wasn't Weiss who saved Whitley from the Hound in his fathers office. It was Willow. Semblances are hereditary in thier family. The person that was merged with the Hound wasn't used because he was a faunus. It was because of the color of his eyes.

Luminaxtea

I agree with what you said about the Brothers. They literally saw a grieving woman, and instead of having compassion for their creation during a difficult time, they said "fuck you it's opposite day" and did the one thing she DIDN'T want.

Kiesen

Coming into this a bit later than I usually do. Had to attend a webinar and do adult stuff. But nothing will stop me from screaming about this series every week: - Anybody else hear the "Do you believe in destiny?" line entirely in Pyrrha's voice. That scene is burned into my mind. - Feels very... realistic... that the people in Atlas have been entirely unaware of the fucking Apocalypse happening down in the Mantle. People love their ignorance until the flames are at their door. - I struggle immensely with Winter in this look too. Like I wanted to scream when I saw her debut in it proper. The cunty little N7 look with the ponytail makes me weak in the knees. - It's also been like, a day since Winter got her arm sliced open. She hasn't had time to process the death of Fria, the abandonment of Mantle, or anything else while at the same time having been forced to push through her recovery so she'd be on the battlefield quicker. - Salem's done some horrific stuff, but this really is the Brothers' fault at the end of the day. What Salem wanted was selfish, yes, but nobody deserves a fate like That. It's given us some interesting variations on immortality at least which I haven't seen much of in other media. Especially Oz's, which is more like a parasite devouring the host than reincarnation as we traditionally know it. - I know people aren't a fan of the child torture and consider it the writers going "too far," which I get, and I'm fine with that opinion, but I personally think it's a realistic choice. Coming from a hyperbolic and fantastical place, but still realistic. I said it last week, but I'm specializing my college education (undergrad and grad) on the topic of trauma, so I'm drawn to narratives that go this dark, because the general logic Hazel runs off of isn't that distant from reality. An uncomfortable amount of people will brutally abuse children because they look/sound/act like someone they hate or they feel they shouldn't have survived when someone they loved died (like pregnancy-related deaths, kids surviving car accidents, etc). Even use some of the same of excuses like, "Well, it's (other person)'s fault that I'm doing this. You're part of them." Absolutely fucked up and completely deranged logic, just like it is here with Hazel, but it unfortunately does happen and on a spectrum of severity. RWBY just has a bit of wish fulfillment/insists on hope because Oscar/Oz are starting to get through to him. - Been waiting for you to get to this scene with May. It's sharp as fuck and establishes her as trans without making it her whole character, which I appreciate so much. It also shows how dedicated she is to the cause. Also, note, we actually met one of the other Marigolds back in Volume 4. He was the little prick talking to Weiss during the charity auction. - Salem is definitely very selective in the sales pitch she gives her followers. Tell one about power, tell one about a new world order, tell one that no huntsman academies will exist, and for the real freaks mention the end of the world. - Loving that Mercury is finally showing some doubt. I hope he comes around eventually. (Not a spoiler) - It is SO important to me that fucking REN is the character to deliver this "No one is replaceable" speech because of the meta significance. Monty's presence has been weaved through the fabric of this show, especially since his death, so hearing Monty's character, who's performance was taken up by his brother Neath, saying this is absolutely piercing. - Oh man the way I tense when I hear Winter deliver that "I outrank you." I was already weird about her voice but that line got me feeling Wild. - Some copyright holders really love going for the throat. Which is ridiculous considering that reactions and similar actually bring More attention (and in turn more money) to things. - Whitley's character allusion is Kai from the Snow Queen, so this is very in line with it. But yeah, Jacques no longer being in the picture is one of the primary reason he's had a turn of heart. Sometimes you really just need to cut out the malignancy to save someone. - The little crest on Qrow' crow form brings me so much joy. It's so stupid and I love it. - I think everyone is just awkward around Willow. I've been around my own fair share of alcoholic mothers and it can be super awkward when they randomly appear, even when they're nice. - We don't get a lot of scenes between just Blake and Ruby, so it's really sweet seeing them have this moment. - Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, baby!!!!!!!!!!!! - Weiss with the cool ass wing shots. They're really making it her thing. - For anyone who's spent time in the horrible halls of the Spencer Mansion and similar, you'd recognize that there's some Resident Evil influences in this episode. I noticed the first time I watched it and got very excited seeing it confirmed. - Willow summoning a Boarbatusk with her semblance implies that she has solid combat experience, since the Schnees can only summon Grimm they've killed. - Weiss is referencing Willow's quote there ("No matter what happens, Weiss... please don’t forget about your brother.") - Anddddddddd here's why The Hound is my favorite Grimm. I was speechless when I saw it for the first time. Especially once I realized the guy underneath has silver eyes. Because Holy Shit the fucking IMPLICATIONS. I'll say more on this in a different episode. - I know Watts is like, a stick of a man, but wow, Cinder. Fully just, uh, picking up a grown man and throwing him over her shoulders. And in heels??? What a woman.

Tigerhawk

As others have mentioned, the person inside has Silver Eyes, which is the key detail from a narrative perspective. The Faunus, meanwhile, happens to be a fox Faunus, making it likely that this combo Grimm was inspired by the 1981 Disney movie *The Fox and the Hound*—except here, it’s the fox inside the hound.

Ghost Dusk

Just a little tidbit about the hound there.... You might want to take a closer look at his eye color 👀

Quentin.

Yeahhhhhh man, “I outrank you” did a LOT of things to me

Quentin.

This is the good stuff

Potato

Little fan facts about our first trans character here (not saying theres more or not judt the first one we have seen) The happy huntresses are a play on robin hood (with robin obvious) and the merry men which is the inspired fairytale for may But another nugget of information when she came out affectively to the crew she said that to her family aka the "marigolds" Now this is something people completely miss or forget that we have in fact met one of them, her brother. Volume 4 following weiss's storyline at the charity event there was a pretty, i guess you could say nervous but kind of full of himself kid that approached weiss at the painting to try and catch her attention. He had blue hair and hid name was henry marigold as he introfuced himself as. Just thought it was a cool detail cause before may, henry judt felt like a "throwaway" backround character that just existed rhere for the story for weiss but now we connect them a little more in the story even if they arent directly tied or important :]

Cinder's Apologist

*cackles with delight at what is to come* yep, it just gets better and better! so I want to call your attention to how they were detained on the ship: notice how Yang has BOTH Elm and Vine to restrain her, whereas they don't even bother having anyone hold back Jaune or Ren after Winter starts to move around. because they know Yang is THE THREAT ;D Winter's tremor is not so much PTSD as the conflicting emotions warring within. she's watching a man she has revered slide further and further down a dark path. and that kaleidoscope we see through Ren? Winter is the Ice Queen, after all - she's been suppressing ALL of her emotions, and it's really showing now. I knew you'd love the May reveal; I kept begging you to let the whole bit play out but you jumped on it so fast lmao. and as others have pointed out, think back to v4 when Weiss met that guy at the party... Henry Marigold. as in May's brother. yeah, THAT was her family that she left. cracks me up that you think Emerald is gay for Cinder, but not unreasonable. really looking forward to what you have to say next time... also, notice what everyone says about Salem and what her motives are... because none of them really line up. everybody has a slightly different perception of what Salem wants. keep that in mind. we love seeing the Schnee family start to heal now that Jacquass is out of the picture! just goes to show how ready they are to move past him, as well as Weiss coming so far that she can inspire them. *ahem* not just a Faunus... SILVER EYES. but yes, truly dark and horrifying. CRWBY did so good with the horror themes. quick reminder: Salem sent Cinder and the Hound to Atlas to retrieve Penny. Cinder went to get Watts so he could "lead her to the girl," while the Hound just goes for Penny directly. either way, their aim is to have Penny open the vault for the staff.

Cinder's Apologist

it did a lot of things to a LOT of the fandom lmao. sadly I didn't feel that way the first few times watching it, but it's so amusing to see people being down bad for Winter. and valid!

Cinder's Apologist

amen. glad to see she gets it. sometimes it feels like that aspect of the story gets forgotten

Hollyhock

I love how for all 3 of the Schneeblings, the moment they're not under their father's direct control they just turn into normal, good-hearted people

Hollyhock

I think it says a lot about Hazel in the sense that it explains why he focuses his rage on Ozpin. He went for Salem first, and lost all hope of defeating her. So all he believes he can do now is try to prevent a pointless war and just get Salem's takeover over with as fast as possible. He's a thoroughly broken man who lost all hope

leafieking

not sure if its been said yet, but in the scene where the hound is tracking whitley, it's actually willow that summons something to save him. weiss only shows up later to come in absolute clutch with that ice wall

One important things about the Scnees is they represent the 4 responses to abuse people have. Flight, (winter), Fight (Weiss), Fawn or trying to people please the source of the stress or abuse (Whitely) and Freeze (Willow). Each one reacted to their trauma in different but understandable ways. Whitley's is the hardest to catch as he is written pretty much to he an atangonist when you first see him but that was disguising the twist that hes just going along and isnt the carbon copy of his father he presents as.

Alexis Cardillo

Yeah none of us show the reveal of what the Hound is coming, and take another look at his eye color, Blake not the only one to have reason to be traumatized

FanofFantasy

Salem’s anger is understandable, but I have no sympathy for her. She threw a tantrum because life wasn’t fair, and went on to kill hundreds of thousands of people, including her own children!

Ray Knight

just in case the version of the episode files you have on your computer don't include this, please note that V8 E10 (Ultimatum) has a Photosensitivity warning prior to the start of the episode.

I think youre a teensy bit too hard on Hazel. When it comes to Gretchen, its undeniable that she signed up for it, but Hazel's problem isnt just she died doing something she signed up for. Hazel is angry that Oz takes specifically children and trains them to fight a war that he KNOWS can't actually be won. He is very literally sending children to their deaths, over and over again, theres no other way to look at it. Hazel is a hypocrite, ABSOLUTELY, but his hate for Oz is more than justified

Ep 8: The choir singing in the background during the hound reveal and Rubys look of horror paints an even more tragic picture, "Tu, Sivo-Eisa Voria" (You, Silver-Eyed Warrior) "Sarehma Tayka Me" (Salem Took Me) "Donu Frayst Vo Me, Donu Cri" (Don't You Fret For Me, Don't You Cry) "U-tu Sivo-Eisa Me" (Your Silver Eyes For Me).

love these episodes you actually met May's brother way back in Vol 4 during the benefit thing with Weiss

S.K. Kramer

I absolutely love how they worked May being trans into the story. I'm glad they highlighted it, but did so in a way seamlessly kept the story going. I know a lot of people ship Qrow and Robyn, which is totally valid, but I've always been of the mind that seeing as how Robyn is also a bird's name, she's the bird sister Qrow's always deserved, as opposed to Raven. The summoned boar grim that saves Whitley is actually Willow's. A long time ago (volume 3) Winter told us that summoning is a hereditary semblance passed down to Schnee women, so it makes sense that Willow can also summon. Speaking of Winter... YEAH, she has this affect on a lot of sapphics, and I assume some men and enbys as well. Especially her volume 8 look, it is just *chef's kiss*

Yeah May's cousin was Henry who we met back in v4 at the beacon fundraiser

Rachel Mae

I think autocorrect may have gotten you. Its Kdin not Kevin

HOW HAS NO-ONE POINTED THIS OUT YET 😭😭😭

Azzora Rose

Holy crap! I never noticed that

Yeah, I've always put Oz at fault for not telling the huntsman and huntresses that they're signing up to fight a force that cannot be killed. Yes yes there would be panic and people need to be led by hope, but is lying to them and essentially leading them to their deaths ever going to solve the problem at hand? No. Oz as far as we know has never even put forth all his effort to TRY and find a different solution to the Salem problem

I feel like you would love rwby ice queendom, it’s an anime version of rwby with a different story line but same characters we all know and love with much more to their interactions with each other. I won’t say more since I don’t what to give away anything so you can look in to yourself but once you have time you should check it out

Adrian ruiz martinez

i don't know if klein was weiss's biological father but her was defenily clapping that

I think I've commented this before but the brother gods are very much like spoiled children that get angry when something doesn't go how they wanted it to so they throw a temper tantrum, they find out Salem went to the other brother and decide to "teach her a lesson" about the value of life by making her immortal despite how cruel it is that she will never be able to see the man she loves, to the point of she is willing to go to the dark brother to get him back, again. Then when she tricks the kingdoms into attacking them they decide to wipe out all of humanity for their actions even innocents who had nothing to do with it, very much like a child getting angry or bored with their toys and throwing a tantrum, humanity being the toys as their creations. And then have Ozma fix the problem they created.

Random aside, but I remember a really 'fun' observation made by someone regarding how the story looks from the Happy Huntresses perspective. Cos like imagine you spend years thinking you are in a cyberpunk dystopia and then BOOM, suddenly you are also dealing with gods and magic and ancient evil sorceresses XD

Akito Kiryu

but rwby chibi first! :D
