"Ruby of the Sea" is basically her stage name. No magical connection. Shes just the most famous courtesan/sex worker on the continent lives in a costal city. Someone sang a song about her in vox machina.

Really loved Marion just as a character. One detail that make things even sadder is how prepared for a situation like this she was. Because in her line of work you need to be prepare for something like this. Whether its an angry customer or public opinion of your industry changes or any number of things.

XD 24:25 - Marion is Jester's biological mother 46:10 - Jester's prank in the original campaign (fleshed out more in the origin comic) was even more devious! Disguised as her mother using the magic granted by the Traveler, Jester convinces Sharp to put on lingerie and to wait for her in the outside balcony, only for Jester to lock him out for all the public to see! 53:50 - In S3E2 of Legend of Vox Machina, we actually hear about the Ruby of the Sea through song! Dr. Dranzel, the half orc accompanying Kaylie, starts to sing the song "Ruby" when Kaylie goes on break and you can hear the full song during the end credits of that episode! 54:40 - In the original campaign Fjord started with his southern accent. We don't learn it's a fake accent he used to mimic his captain until much later into the campaign, which few hints popping up beforehand. 55:40 - Grog's last name was Strongjaw, HOWEVER, hilariously enough, his father's name actually was Stonejaw Strongjaw. Apparently, Travis couldnt decide on whether making Grog's last name Stonejaw or Strongjaw so he wrote both names down. Matt mistakenly took that as it being his father's name, so it became canon!

the guards at the gate were voiced by JB Blanc (the unnamed guard - also voiced Vander in Arcane) and Steve Blum (Paul, the bald guard. Blum has voiced in a *lot* of anime, and was also Amon in Legend of Korra)

Haha, yeah, Essek is a very complicated character. You will feel torn about how to feel about him. He's both sympathetic & very flawed. Bluud is Marion's bodyguard. Definitely a part of the family, but not of any blood relation. It's just Jester & her mum. And yes, the Ruby is QUITE the woman. Fun fact, in Season 3 of the Legend of Vox Machina, Dr. Dranzel, the bard that Scanlan's daughter performs with, sings a song called "Ruby" about "a girl I met in Nicodranas". I adore Caleb & Nott's relationship like few things. It's so sweet & forged through mutual pain & trauma. They really do need one another.

IIRC, LoVM and TMN are animated by the same studio as LoK. So in addition to Marisha being an Avatar fan and having her characters influenced by it, the studio is a direct connection between the two universes now EDIT: Nope, this was animated by Titmouse. Korra was animated by Studio Mir Titmouse DID do the opening credits for ATLA as well as cutscenes for a LoK video game. That must be where I got my wires crossed TL;DR Titmouse did the CR animated shows and some stuff related to Legend of Korra But it was Studio Mir that did LoK proper. Titmouse just made sure their work was in line with what Mir did originally

Meet Essek Thelyss (who is indeed voiced by Matt, actually Essek is Matt's „NPC PC" like Allura for VM)... 1. When the Nein first officially met him Matt described him as - and I quote: „You see a handsome male, drow" - being handsome is literally a character trait for Hot Boi alongside 2. „He floats" - The group INSISTED that he floats even tho Matt hadn't said so, but after awhile he was like „FINE, he floats. Happy?" ... And thus we just refer to him as Floaty Hot Boi.

What I love the most about the shot is how much more detailed it is than the one used in the Campaign 2 animated opening. The difference a large budget and diverse team makes. Like the shading of the eye around the edges was so great it felt REAL
