…..and what about The Amazing Digital Circus? Mosco said you were doing yours right after hers!

30:12 🤷

Dragon0921

9:00 - No, it's strictly alcoholism. lol 10:56 - Two things about Jester's little doodle - 1. Her serial number "318008" is "Boobie" spelled backwards, the classic calculator trick. 2. The outfit she drew herself in is the outfit she wore during the Vox Machina vs. Mighty Nein one shot they did as a stretch goal for funding The Legend of Vox Machina back when it was meant to only be a animated special! 12:18 - I still don't know what Fjord and Jester did! They were innocent bystanders! lol 41:13 - A running joke about Travis being a bit of a scaredy cat, especially when it comes to creepy kids. He HATES the girl from The Ring so anything vaguely resembling her he nopes out. lol 46:02 - "Pop Pop" is basically Beau's catchphrase. lol 48:10 - Much like Gustav, Toya actually survived in the original campaign. They managed to save her, though Beau had to knock her out to keep her from singing and empowering the Devil Toad. 49:00 -Owelia is tiny because she's a halfling! lol 1:03:00 - The final line she says "Master will be so pleased I found you..." You're going to want to have subtitles for the next episode because they speak German/Zemnian A LOT in it. lol

L Frances

Okay, I have to say this again, and I REALLY HOPE she hears this: She NEEDS to watch versions with the subtitles for Zemnian (German) in them. If she tries watching the next episode without them, she will immediately be totally lost, and she is already losing some MAJOR context from not having them. It's the one thing really worrying me in these reactions.

Iron117Prime

Just a friendly shot, when you watch the next episode (and maybe those after), you might wanna turn on subtitles. Just because it's easier to translate Caleb's native language, which is spoken a lot in the next episode.

LikeCat

About your third point: Molly was just lashing out at everybody (if it was deserved or not)

LikeCat

Molly and his „Carnie bullshit" tarot-cards... An unbeatable duo

Tiny owl

Well I'm going to serve. Is this people think they're smarter than the people who got sucked into a cult? You're not grimming, and manipulation is real. Turn is a must manipulator and is much harder. He holds the power in that dynamic evenessek? One to leave or take it back. He wouldn't be able to

dainbramage7

Probably today or tomorrow. She doesn't usually upload those reactions at the same time.

Solus

So, about Yasha, unfortunately Yasha won't be in Season 1 of The Mighty Nein, because in the actual TMN campaign Ashley/Yasha had very little episode time in pretty much the first half of the campaign due to her acting schedule when she was filming for her character in Blindspot, she would show up for two to four sessions then leave for several weeks or a month or so then come back for maybe another couple of sessions, so in the animated series they are doing this for story purposes as well, it's been confirmed that she will become a central figure in season 2.

mystical

So in the campaign, the players kept rolling 9s and shouting out the number with a German accent, so that played into them becoming the Mighty Nein. Also, keep in mind that Trent Ikithorn is a master manipulator.

og.monstr

I can just tell the Nein fuckwits are going to be the bestest of friends in no time at all. 😁 But in the meantime, seeing which of them find it easier to connect with which makes for an interesting watch - and a funny one: Beau and Caleb are both nerds; Jester and Molly like to keep spirits up, and so on.

L Frances

I'm gonna cut this speculation off: Nott is not cursed or biologically disposed to drink alcohol. She is simply an alcoholic. I just say it cause I don't want what's a serious issue to be waved away as fantasy mechanics. There is a *reason* she's alcoholic, but it's the same as anyone else's: they are emotionally suffering & they're using alcohol to cope. Essek is a very ethically grey character, cause he's getting into this for good reasons, to save his mother's life, but he can't go to anyone in his own culture for help, for fear she'll be executed, on top of their culture being very religiously devoted to the Beacon. He's definitely making a deal with the devil, and there's only so far you can go on that path before the damage goes beyond your control. He doesn't want a war, and thinks he can just do his work before that happens. Unfortunately, Trent's a master manipulator and knows how to play on his sympathies.

Solus

I'm surprised they revealed Essek the way they did since in the actual campaign you didn't find out about his working with Trent until way way later.

SauceyRed

On one hand I hope she does get subtitles for the next one, on the other it'd be kinda funny to watch her go through the motions and start the episode only to realize her blunder lmao

The first (of about three) iconic Molly lines: „Leave a place better than you found it" - The amount of times I rewatched that one scene at Toya's fire was a LOT... The emotions were high. (I mean its our Circus Man what was I expecting)

CrowOfAFeather

Verrat literally said he was being deployed to fight the Empire in 48 hours, hence his farewell x) Subtitles will be of great help from now on. Owelia (the halfling(?) we saw at the end) and others will be speaking Zemnian.

Tristan Haller

I'm pretty sure notthing that Essek tells Trent about his mother is a new conversation--Trent asks "Your mother's disease--what was it called *again*?" (Emphasis mine.) This is all stuff that got discussed between them when Essek was first being convinced that stealing the Beacon for study was a good idea; Ikithon brings it up again now, while Essek is mentally and physically exhausted from the grueling experimentation pace Ikithon set, specifically to play on his emotions and manipulate him.

LikeCat

When Molly licks the blood and activates (unknowingly) his powers there is a VERY feint „Ah" that can be heard in the mix of sounds - I wanna say I was reading into it, but the subtitles weren't lying.

LikeCat

Yeah, Owelia is a Halfling - I didn't knew that beforehand (mainly because my only references were Kima and SHE - and her family)

Ryan

Mercer came up with a ton of backstory to him that the campaign never got around to showing, so he's very much seizing this opportunity to put it out there.

Ryan

The weird thing is they managed to keep Pike a regular character despite incorporating her time away from the group, so why couldn't they do the same here?

Ryan

Major props to Marisha for perfectly copying Laura's Jester voice. Even a seasoned pro like Matthew Mercer struggled with the accent during the campaign.

Martin E Melcher

I just love that their name can basically be translated as "A Strong No." Lol

Shay

Just something that I think may or may not change how you see Essek: I personally find him very similar to Entrapta, just not as bubbly as she was

Sere

The origins of the name in the campaign were very similar, but here's some added context to it. They kept rolling 9s in the early days, seemingly every other roll. Because they're all voice actors and several of them started doing different accents for their characters (Fjord's Texan one, Jester's vaguely Eastern European one, Molly's attempted Irish one, Caleb's German one), they went from calling out "Nine!" to saying it in a German accent to tease Liam about his Caleb voice, going "Nein!" because those rolls kept failing. Instead of turning in the frog's head to clear their name and needing paperwork, the needing paperwork bit was when they went to turn in a small quest on the road and that's where the "Mighty Nein" name was suggested. In universe it's teasing Caleb about his accent, in reality it was making fun of the constant 9s they kept rolling. It also suits the group dynamic when you can loosely translate their name to "the Big Nope"

Ryan

Nott has calluses on her cooch from all the cavity searches. At least Trent Ikithon isn't a petty villain, right? Elijah: "Hey, when does Yasha come back in?" Everyone: (sips tea and looks away) ... There's a Zemnian (German) in the next episode; subtitles are advised.

L Frances

I will say, Ikithon in Mighty Nein is like if Viren from Dragon Prince wasn't petty or pretend-sympathetic: He is simply the worst, most cruelly manipulative man on the planet. Which makes him a better villain in general. Meanwhile Essek is kinda like "what if Aaravos were actually baby?" He's not about to stop what he's doing until he achieves his goal, but he's slowly realizing just how high the cost of that goal will be.

Dana L Powers-Green

The spell Fjord is using does a flat 1d10 damage at low level so same spell description for either 1 damage or 10 damage 😄

Christopher Malone

not just advised but HIGHLY recommended... unless you speak German

Solus

I think it might have been because she wasn't as gone as much as she was in TMN, I have watched both campaigns and it seemed she was gone a lot more for TMN than she was for VM

Ryan

I mean, it would be interesting to see if Elijah could follow the conversation from body language, facial expressions, and context clues...

Angelus Lupus

You and Mosco are just too cute together!

Dana L Powers-Green

Nott also uses alcohol to manage anxiety and fear. While she is a lot braver than she gives herself credit for, she is a bit proponent of liquid courage

Dreanner95

You should make sure you have subtitles on for the Zemnian next episode. I think you already missed an important reveal at the end of this episode because you didn't understand what Owelia said to Caleb.

TanzaniteGill

Glad to see you're back in action! Hope you're feeling better

BakaSama

Essek is so driven with desperation that he is blind drunk on copium and playing “the ends justify the means game”, which is not a great combination to say the least. It’s even worse when you add in someone skilled at manipulation like Ikithon and is fully aware of your desperation. And buckle up for the next episode, because things are going to get very rough.

Joshua King

Fun fact: Toya was actually voiced by Moana’s voice actress

Lil Ferret

yeah I don't understand why the subtitles didn't pop up, even if you don't have subtitles on, it still shows you the translation for those parts precisely because they're important.

Lil Ferret

Yeah she's barely there for a lot of the beginning portion, at least from the episodes that I've seen

B

Apparently the “whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re always right” line is a quote by Henry Ford. So that line is actually a car joke 🤣. The cast make quite a few Fjord/Ford puns in the campaign, especially at the beginning.

zachariah Mustchin

the spell that Fjord did on the wall was his Eldritch Blast. Also, you and Moscow are adorable, love to see more of you together.

Aaron Grant

Can't wait to see your reaction to EP 5

Joshua Persons

STRONGLY recommend subtitles for the next episode, as the first 5 or so minutes are almost entirely in Zemnian.

Konrad Dunbar

you're going to want to put on subtitles for episode 5

AnimeJNKY

Not is an alcoholic, as to why she is one is a HUGE spoiler. Recommend keeping the subtitles going forward, I'm in the middle of watching the campaign and it's just gonna be easier to have the subs on.

Jessica V

Hotboi Essek decided to pass on the street smarts until his next life.

Christopher Malone

honestly Icky Thong has more in common with Aaravos then Viren. They are both monsters acting in ways that are completely understandable but nevertheless just as terrible. Viren is just, petty and needed lots therapy
