Sorry people are always shitting on you in the comments. Especially over something like a theory.

Lisunavailable

Ain't no way people were hating on you for your theory! People are so annoying I swear. Especially since you made an excellent point.

David Johnson

The bug complaints make no sense whatsoever. The whole theory was about his ability to create an *extra life*, something that would you assume takes an admin to do. And it's Kinger, of *course* he's going to make an extra life look like a bug, as opposed to a heart or a cookie or a can of soda or any of the other hundred thousand different icons games used for extra lives. The shape is irrelevant, it's an *extra life*.

Henry

WAIT YOU GOT 2 ADC VOICE ACTORS???

David Johnson

Shouldn't Ragatha's eye button have floated? It's plastic.

JamJarWorks

Michael Kovach and someone else. They haven't said he's in it, but it's a law of the Internet. If you're doing an indie animation project, Michael just spawns in a nearby recording booth waiting for his lines. (Pretty cool of him to put himself out there so much imo)

Moonlight Mariposa

So Scratch is the yellow dog character we see on one of the doors in (I believe) the first episode, though that information was from an old tweet so I'm not 100% sure about its legitimacy.

Joey Quixote

"Scratch. The first Abstraction." This might be another biblical reference. "Old Scratch" is a nickname for The Devil... Caine has been depicted as God before... Something to be said about Caine casting down those who abstracted. If Scratch was an accident, but gave Caine the knowledge to abstract players at will (by excessively modifying their minds)... was Kaufmo getting too close to escaping, so Caine took him out? The only thing I can come up with as to why Kinger functions in the dark is because there's less to process. But that would mean Kinger is a program... Which makes me wonder if he and not Caine is the subject of The Chinese Room Argument. I didn't know this, but someone on Twitter pointed it out. The Chinese Room Argument is a real thing. "The Chinese room argument holds that a computer executing a program cannot have a mind, understanding, or consciousness,[a] regardless of how intelligently or human-like the program may make the computer behave." Knowing that, we'd be led to expect that to reference Caine. But what if it's talking about Kinger? With the flashbacks, I'd thought maybe Jax was abducted, especially considering the decor of his room. But that he ran someone over (a kid?) might make more sense. I'm still hung up on why Pomni hesitated. I think there's something there. I'm wondering if she knows more than we've been led to believe.

MapleSCC

I like a lot of your theory's and ideas for a lot of the shows you react to some even give me a new perspective so I hope the people getting mad at you don't bother you to much. Also I thought it was just there names that they couldn't remember not their whole lives since they talked about themselves in the bar and pomni said she couldn't remember her name in the first episode.

RenWillsen

Maybe Jax was in a car accident but didn't die??? maybe he was in a coma or something and the company used coma patients (perhaps ones without next of kin since Jax doesn't seem to have anybody on the outside) to test their technology

Athena

Not people shitting on you for one of the most popular theories in the fandom AND one that is basically confirmed this episode 💀 Like sure the whole bug thing hasn't been touched on yet, but Kinger is practically confirmed to have at LEAST been a game dev or programmer. When Zooble and Gangle talk to Kinger, he doesn't ask "Wait, what's C&A?" Or get confused about them implying he works for the company. Instead his only question is "Who?" in regards to Abel. As in, "I don't remember working with that guy", which I think implies he DID work with people. Maybe Caine even got some of his "worldbuilding" FROM Kinger in one way or another. There could be some truth to certain elements of that adventure. I do think Caine and Abel still means something, since we see it engraved on that gun in episode six. The player characters don't point it out, and Caine doesn't make it obvious so I doubt it was foreshadowing for this adventure. If the theory about Caine "fusing" with Abel or taking over Abel entirely is true, it would be kinda symbolic for Caine to make a totally subservient NPC and name them 'Abel'. Like he's getting to assert control again. Bonus theory: Maybe "Adam" Is Kingers real name! Was my first thought when you pointed that out

RenWillsen

If Jax ran over a kid that could be why he needs therapy, if Mosco's therapy game theory is right

RiekerVerse

buttons can also be metal, also expecting physics to function appropriately in this world may be assuming a mite too much lmao

CodePhoenix13

Okay, I think there’s one part that might be getting misunderstood and I don’t mean this in an “um actually” way. All of the humans in the circus do remember their entire lives before the circus. The only thing they can’t remember is their name. This episode specifically confirms that Caine is the one making it so they can’t remember their names.

David Johnson

Well, it's pretty obviously a plastic button. But the part about physics not working like we expect is well-founded.

Bailey

Wow, what a fun beach episode! :) For real though, it sucks that people have been so mean to you about your theories. Especially that "I hate reactors that don't actually watch" like bruh?? Elijah literally pauses and talks about stuff all the time. Does she miss stuff sometimes? Sure, but everyone does. Also "oh he likes bugs because of his wife" yeah, but it can also be a double meaning. Like come on lmao. Anyways sorry you've been getting those comments. The internet needs to learn how to disagree without being so mean about it. Real people read these comments.

Jittercritter

Anyone else notice that the so called stasis pod designs resemble the shape of the changing booth? 💀 Anyways, if Pomni did get pulled into the digital world while exploring the abandoned building then it’s possible that Zooble came in the same way considering they said they also used to do that (but didn’t record it, unlike Pomni). If only Pomni did livestreams instead of videos, people would have known wha happened to her and been able to come help her (or at least try).

Bailey

now, I do think there's more truth to the adventure than we think. whether it's that Caine used real info to set it up, or if when Caine caught them he made Abel say what he said as a cover up., since we learn that, yes, he does have more control over their minds than he let on. I guess we'll see.

og.monstr

After hearing how some commenters have behaved towards you, as well as how some TADC fans seem to go out of their way to "um actually" just about everything about this series, all I can say is I'm sorry you have to deal with that - and also, I'm getting even wearier of entitled fans' behaviour. 😑 We're all here to have some fun, and I love it when showrunners pull the rug out from under our feet, that's what makes the whole experience so unpredictable and entertaining!

Cali Jester

She said that and immediately went, "Oh cool, they got Kovach."

Cali Jester

Wild people are hating on you for THE POPULAR THEORY IN THE SHOW.

Angela

I was going to ask where your shirt was from but you ended up saying lol, so thank you! It's unfortunately sold out rn though for anyone who was looking for it

Phoenix_mercury

i was thinking he and someone else(their was a set of lights coming towards on the road)was in a collision, he came worst off and was possibly put into an induced coma(then the circus bcz no next of kin to worry about as its clear he hasnt got anyone on the outside)

zachariah Mustchin

69th like, nice. I do think the shrimp thing is a bit of a stretch, but it is funny that she says it in the same way that you do. So shocked that people were shitting on you, everyone treats it like it's already confirmed. it's sexism sadly, people see a woman having an opinion and feel the need to correct them. I think Caine is causing the abstractions, like hes changing their minds too much to try and make them happy, but it's so toxically positive about their circumstances that the players just give up. Kind of a commentary on suicide, on society trying to railroad people a certain way, but they don't like their lives, so they can't find true happiness until they end it. Alot of people think Caine hijacked Abel, but i think that would be too much whiplash, the whole point of the twist is that it's like one of those bad, what if it has a bad ending kind of a theory, except it's not the end, and we actually deal with the fallout from it.

Phoenix_mercury

yeah it reminds me of when when people was shitting on her for an extremely common hazbin theory that was proven right and the show even had a woman call out that it was obvious

Tetsua Kagemaru

Damn, the internet is a cruel place. Don’t listen to those bad people and believe on your own theories because you made more sense than they did honestly. Plus, I’ve seen how much details you can notice more than i can ever, so you clearly know how to analyze theories. ❤️❤️❤️ That being said, thx for that one sexism comment on here about implying that all bad comments are from men. Clearly us men are seen as bad people i see. I won’t point at that one comment who said that, but not all of us are the same, so choose your words wisely, as you might offend the wrong people.

Phoenix_mercury

It's not the first time Elijah's had those kind of comments, it happened in hazbin hotel as well with a popular theory that she(and Morgan and mosco) was right about, they even had a female character call out how it was obvious too

GriefInHold

idk queenie was an entomologist or something but as someone who worked in IT a little and having kinger being most likely a programmer, i always thought who be a debugger (people who loves finding bugs in program and help programmer fix them), it's kinda of a close relationship to have so i thought she would be a debugger which would explain her presence in the game in a earlier state of development but amazing reaction, i always live seeing you go so fast and give your thoughts/theories as you go through the episode

RetroBeastto

The person that voices the yellow fish is the same person that voices Charlie in smiling friends (highly recommended watch)

I really want to believe the "Cain hijacked Able at the end" theory. Too much lore was dropped by Able for me to willingly trash it all. Ultimately, nearly every bit of evidence I thought of at first to support the hijack theory could be explained by Cain developing Able as a highly intelligent AI, and working on this "adventure" since nearly the first episode. I still have two objections to the "adventure" theory that I cannot yet explain away. (Maybe you out there can help me.) First, this "adventure" seems very un-Cain-like. It showed far more depth and consistency than any of Cain's other efforts. Also it lacked the usual whimsy, characteristic of Cain's work. Second, and in my mind far more importantly, Able demonstrated much more knowledge of the real world than Cain appears to have. Cain says all he knows of it comes from those few images, and so far we have seen nothing to make us doubt that. So, am wrong here? "Adventure," or did Cain hijack the situation at the last moment to make it look that way?

BakaSama

The whole Kinger being an admin theory thing I think stood up fine by itself prior to this episode without being tied to his wife being an entomologist (and possibly debugger). Those things could certainly be linked, but they could also not be. Regardless though, there’s no reason to give hate for it. Gooseworx has concocted a lovely “riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma” with this series and we’re all out here trying to untangle the truth.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

"The Chinese Room" is a common thought experiment about AI. It's a man in a room who doesn't speak Chinese, but has a Chinese dictionary and can communicate with it, so everyone thinks he's fluent. It's a metaphor for how while computers can *mimic* humanity, they will never truly *understand* it, in reference to how Abel acts human but is truly an NPC. Not 100% sure why Jax goes first right now, but I think it has something to do with how he was the one who told Caine he was just like a human. Since Abel's an NPC, he takes orders from Caine, so Caine wants Jax to go first because he thinks Jax will be the most favorable to him? Or something. I think Kinger's the oldest player and just remembers more about Caine than any other player, so Caine messed with his memories so he couldn't warn anybody else. Repeated memory alterations seem to trigger Abstractions.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

I'm pretty sure that Kinger being able to create the butterfly was something that anybody in the Circus could do if they really tried. The only limit imposed on them is what their minds can think of.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

They've stated Queenie was interested in entomology in a prior episode.

BakaSama

That’s an interesting point. I’m not totally willing to dismiss Kinger’s role as an admin over it, but the last episode did show that Pomni and friends (or at least Pomni and Kinger) possesses some creative abilities. We just don’t know to what extent.

Quentin.

Oh yay fun, happy... uh.. fun beach episode! Hooray!

Phoenix_mercury

Both? Real situation that Caine hijacked and turned into an impromptu adventure 🤷

2026-09-03 02:00 Jax didn't push the button, Caine did. People might be abstracting solely because Caine can't stop messing with peoples minds. How much of Jax acting the way he is just been Caine forcing his mind to deal with his ever growing traumas? Heres a theory off the cuff. Perhaps Kinger is symbolism for facing problems and trauma by talking it out and engaging with people around you, while Caine is symbolism for dealing with trauma by using medication literally forcing the mind to simply change. Like a light switch. Two distinct ways to deal with mental issues, but medication simply hides the problem and alters the mind. Over long periods it spirals causing the person to snap.

So I have a theory and some clues to back it up. What if Abstraction IS the exit? After watching this, I went back to the pilot episode and looked inside Kaufmo’s room for any kind of clues, and there’s a drawing on the wall of Caine eating him. Maybe he was trying to find the key the same way Jax was, and Caine found out and made him forget, proving for sure that he can mess with the minds of the humans. Also when Jax is going through that weird trippy thing in his room, I think he’s in the process of abstracting and the shapes surrounding him kind of take the shape of a double door the very second before Pomni comes to snap him out of it. I think if he had reached the door shaped thing, his abstraction would have been completed and he would’ve gotten out. Not to mention the fact that this only happened to him during a moment away from everything else. Another thing I think related to this is Kinger recalling how his wife abstracted. He said they were in the pillow fort, and she seemed calm because she was in the dark, but no one but him seems to be affected by the dark. I think she was calm because she abstracted, and therefore got out. I know Kaufmo was rather hostile when he abstracted, and my guess for that is perhaps he was driven so mad that it affected him in the real world too. That, or perhaps an abstracted figure in the game is the games code of the human, but without the human there, and it leaves the space to glitch a bit. Something else I noticed from the pilot was Ragatha saying Caine’s adventures were a way to keep everyone’s minds “healthy and stimulated”, and he gets irritated whenever someone doesn’t tag along, like with Zooble. And again, from the pilot, during the opening Kaufmo isn’t there when they introduce him. My theory: Caine HAS to keep making new adventures, no matter what form they take, to keep everyone’s brains busy, because if he doesn’t and their left to their own devices for too long, they’ll abstract, and get out. And if they all get out, his purpose as an AI will become obsolete, and he’ll most likely be shut down. I also believe he CAN mess with the minds of the humans, because like Jax said “the stupid sauce, making him vegan” and he does this to make them forget, and no where closer to getting out. The only thing I can’t figure out is why the dark gives Kinger clarity, and the light suddenly makes him lose the clarity. My best guess there is it’s something Caine permanently implemented in Kinger, possibly because Kinger was a programmer of the Digital Circus. It really does seem like he knows more than what it seems, after all he supposedly has been there longer than any of the others and he did mention he studied computer science. Anyway, that’s my theory

Leon Lesser

Hey Elijah. Could I please ask you to maybe not eat while you're reacting? Me and many others get very uncomfortable from eating noises and from people speaking with their mouth full. Thank you

BigPoppaJohn89

calm down Obi-Wan Kenobi lol im referring to the "Hello There"

Christopher Herrera

My apologies for my comment about the bug and admin theory in the last episode

jessie H

If the rule is that Cain can only mess with their minds while on an adventure, I wonder why he only messed with Jax and not Gangle or Pomni. I have so many questions and no good theories!!

NeonKobold

38:34 you asked how each of them got there. In episode 5 it’s confirmed Pomni got into the circus by doing her exploration of abandoned buildings. Zooble admits they also did that but never filmed it, implying they got here the same way Pomni did. I personally believe since Ragatha was a Realtor she was examining the property to most likely sell it. Whether that happened when it was abandoned or not is hard to say. Then we have Kinger who has most likely been there from the beginning (since it’s confirmed he was there for the FIRST abstraction). Gangle mentioned she quit her passion because of her job and ep4 focused on themes of depression and suicide. I therorized she went to that abnandoned building to jump off it and commit suicide but found the headset on the way. Finally we have Jax. Whatever happened to him or whatever he did, he clearly wanted an escape from it. Maybe he was running away from something or experienced something horrible and wound up in the building at the perfect time to put on the headset? Anywho that’s the info I wanted to share

supersoaker

That? Wasn't that Viv just changing the lore? I don't remember where, but she said that if a fan theory was popular enough, she'd make it canon.

zachariah Mustchin

no, i watched the voice actors for gangle and zooble livestream the episode, and they confirmed that jax chose to press the red button himself

Gab Gab

I mean, with all due respect, stop watching then. Me and many others don't find it uncomfortable, and if she wants to eat, she can Also her name is Elijah

Leon Lesser

Damn, seems like autocorrect messed me up there lol. But thanks for the correction anyways, getting her name right is important afterall I was just asking cause it would make for a better watching experience for some people. I don't want to stop watching her reactions over something so relatively minor but I thought I'd at least ask. I know I'm not the only one to feel like this. And being as accessible as possible for as many people as possible seems like something she'd be interested in. Plus in all fairness it really isn't much to ask to eat either before or after the recording sessions.

Kitsune Kokoro

It's not impossible that he *did*, they just didn't pick up on it. Like, Pomni hesitating before hitting the button? Given how desperate she's been to escape before, that's... odd, to say the least. Note Zooble's confused reaction to that. And yes, Abel did sow seeds of doubt, but still. That felt very strange for her, even considering that, and especially considering the reveals about Caine.

jessie H

I’m wondering do certain characters have less of an ‘immunity’ of sorts to Caine’s manipulations and that’s why they Abstract after a while? We’ve established that Kinger isn’t all there, yet he’s still walking around somewhat fine. So, half immunity? I’m not totally sure about how the Light/Dark thing works with the immunity thing.

SauceyRed

I will say that Kinger responding to the name Abel with "Who?" didn't mean much, really, since (if this whole thing was actually real) Abel picked that name after ending up in the circus, so Kinger wouldn't have known that name anyway.

NamelessSoul

I am so freaking hooked on this show, its fascninating! Also very exciting to hear about snagging a couple VAs.

Faroth

im with elijha in the theroy that jax is a cat, it fits perfectly

Faroth

so basically, they abstract because Caine puts or change information in their brains and that mess up the data of them,s tart to "change them" and the data gets corrupted, makig them start losing control of themselves and finally even their physical digital form gets corrupted and Caine doesnt know how to fix that because for starters he is the one causing that and he doesnt understand humans being an ai himself, so he dont get that they "corrupt" their data because he thinks is like any other ai where he just modfy some npc to do something and thats it, but human brains are waaaay more compicated than that and since they are in the circus and since has not been stablish if their bodies get into the computer like old tron or is an SAO style where they are just outside sleeping or something, but since pomni found the computer in an abandoned building with the vr headset, is probably the first one, where they digitalize completely and enter the circus, body included, which just makes it worst because caine is literally "corrupting" the data of the actual person, not just the uploaded data, he is messing up their actual brains, adn losing the data of their physical forms so yeah... Caine is the one messing them up every time he puts information on them, and if you watch the other episodes, he changed jax to be vegan and then he put the gun information on him, basically adding stuff into his brain, and that started the corruption in jax, and in this one, he added the "order" to press the button to stay, so caine would be sure that "one of them would press the button to stay" Thats why jax gets so exasperated at the end, he thought that caine was just followong its programming (he mentioned that he cant hurt them since isnt in its nature) but the moment he realize that Caine itself dont understand the concept of "hurting a human's mind" is when he panicked, because that means that even if programmed to "not hurt humans", that is BS because he doesnt know the concept of hurting their minds, so even when caine knows that touching/controlling their minds corrupts their data, caine jsut see this as an "experiment" for next time, like any learning ai, he suffer from (as he mentioned in ep1) digital hallucinations: "In the context of machine learning, "hallucination" describes when an AI model generates incorrect or nonsensical information while presenting it with high confidence" meaning that caine messing up their minds is just him trying to "do better adventures" or "serving better the players", like when he gave the players what they wanted: make jax vegan, or when he summarized the game to jax about the gun, they asked for it, so he complied, but in the process, he messed up jax's head, and in this one, he tried to get the result HE thought it was best, so to ensure that result, he mesed up jax's mind, and that is what enfuriate jax, its "perfect" preconcibable world is now broken, because he always played in one rule: caine couldnt hurt them so he does whatever he want, but then, caine was the reason that the others abstracted, and then the one who he thought was the most harmless is the most dangerous of them all because at any moment, caine can mess up with them if he consideres that putting information on their minds fits the adventure, and thats all Caine is programmed to do: make adventures for the players

Faroth

i think that kinger having some kind of "administrator" tag make caine not able to put data on him, thats why caine didnt want kinger in this adventure, because he could at any moment prevent them to press the button and choose to leave (even if it was a fake option) but kinger is "protected" by his admin priviliges, but he is also trapped in the game and since he has so many years there, he does in fact become crazy or at least is losing his sanity, and darkness makes him return to self to remember stuff, which is another why they should make a "team intervention" in kinger's fort to talk about this. maybe the light/dark isnt the inmunity but a reference to a switch that if the switch is on, he gets its brain messed up, if is off, he can think normally

Faroth

there is other that say that everytme someone abstracts, caine gets more processor data to make new adventures, he doesnt do it on purpose, but he does say that the new ai is 7 times better after caufmo abstracted, caine is making adventures because, as confirmed by glitch studios, is programmed to do that, no amtter waht, and he cant hurt people, buuuut... he doesnt understand people, he said it itself every time, so he doesnt understand that changing or putting inferomation into people's minds is corrupting their data, and when their data gets too corrupted, their brain is no longer active, so caine use it as more processor power for its adventures

Faroth

another theory out there is that when Kinger said "it doesnt make any sense" when told they are trying to leave the circus, is that they arent trapped, they arent people, they are "scans" of the person's brain and recreated in a digital simulation to see how they react against another ai THEY are Abel, the other ai that tries to simulate a human being, while Caine tries to entertain those simulations, and kinger being the simulation of one of the programmers, has the knowledge that they cant actually leave because "they arent acutally real", they are advence ai's, they are basicallya competition program between abel and caine, and whenever a "person" abstracts, the cpu gets more free ram/processor for caine to work with, which is why on episode 2 after kauffmo abstracted, caine says that he has a new advence ai 7 times better than the last ones, and in this episode we see that all other ais are working really slow and bad, thats because the abel npc is consuming all the procesor power to simualte a human, but then it gets "too smart" and caine decides to erase it And whenever caine messes up with the scanned ai to add information, is like whenever a videogame gets an update and other lines in the programming get bugs and start to fail, and with more and more updates, they end up "crashing", or in this case, abstracting/glitching so in the end, they all are ai's, but they dont know that
