Hi-Viz

I would say I'm sorry but truly I am not

Liam Gradwell

Here it is. Probably the most tragic finale in the history of finales. Poor Elijah. 😭❤️

julia

Uh Oh.

Dre

The end credit song is a gut punch btw. It’s obvious who it’s about based both on the lyrics and the leitmotif they used in the instrumental. … “My wish came true… the day that you appeared and called me friend. An answered prayer. A chance to share the world. To be a girl. Who finally felt alive.”

Pain

Merry Christmas ..... I'm sorry (っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ

SauceyRed

I’M SO SORRY ELIJAH BUT HERE WE FUCKING GOOOO!!!

SauceyRed

That's a CRAZY but true sentence LMAO

L Frances

This is the one thing I *actually* don't forgive the CRWBY for. Admittedly, they've only had one season to really settle in, but I still really don't feel like they had to do this in particular. Maybe we'll get there, but so far, I'm still angry.

Sarah

Reaction on a Wednesday? Hell yeah! 😝

Suplee215

You cam argue Penny was killed 3 times on the show. So far...

Elias Saenz

I think you need to watch rwby chibi before watching volume 9

Vince

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH okay I know this is probably a dumb thing to Be Excited about but I’m so happy you got a RWBY onesie! Mine is like my most prized possession, there’s so much good RWBY merch that you can’t really get anymore so I’m hyped you got one of the best (imo) and coziest!

BGTitan

MESSAGE FOR THE MODS AND SPOILERS FOR V9: I'm only putting this here because I know Elijah isn't reading patreon comments for these reactions. V9's second half starting in episode 7 deals with ideas of life and death including suicide. Episode 8 is particularly rough so please warn Elijah before she gets to that episode because it gets very very brutal and heavy and you do not want to go into that episode unprepared. Even the CW they had for that episode really wasn't specific enough when it aired. Penny’s death is hard. Like, every time I watch it and the aftermath I cry. And that’s before we even get into the incredible voice acting from Taylor McNee (Penny) and Elizabeth Maxwell (Winter). Really helps sell that moment, along with the music. Speaking of Elizabeth, she really went all out this episode. “You are going to pay for everything you’ve done!” The way that sentence is practically growled out is just *chef’s kiss* While I wasn’t necessarily attached to Vine, the fact that the Ace Ops finally admitted that they think of each other as more than just colleagues, only for them to lose another member…. It does sting a little. Harriet is now going to be carrying that guilt around for the rest of her life, that her actions led to Vine’s death. She and Qrow can probably bond over that kind of guilt. How fitting an end for Ironwood. All this time he considered himself the Hero of this story, that Salem was after him personally, that he was the only one worthy of saving Atlas. Not even the people just… Atlas (“this kingdom, it’s technology”). And what happens? When Salem finally is in front of him, she doesn’t even spare him a glance. She walks right by him without a word because he was never more than a pawn in this game. Her target was never him. And when Cinder says “checkmate” (The Final Word btw) he realizes the one that had been messing with him, leaving Chess Pieces was one of Salem’s underlings. He realizes that the symbol that’s been haunting him wasn’t even from Salem herself. He was never any more than a bit player. And now he gets to go down with the city (not even the people) he spent all this time trying to protect. Like a captain and their ship. Poetry. Cinematic poetry. The fact that Weiss used Gambol’s gun/sword to shoot and dual-wield at Cinder always gets me for some reason. Also, the fact that for a while there, Weiss thought she’d literally lost her first real family. That Blake, Ruby, and Yang were all just gone. Owwwww. Man, I just really loved this volume. From the story to the animation, to the music, to the lighting, to the voice acting. I love seeing how far CRWBY has come with this show and how much effort they put into it. All the improvements they’ve made over the years, it’s just incredible. And they had two years to work on V9 so I can’t wait for you to see everything they pulled off there.

Dreanner95

Just for your information: Watts and James are both dead. Watts likely burned to death and James was at the bottom of Atlas that impacted first on Mantle and even if he somehow survived that, there was still the flood. Both of them are dark mirrors of each other. Their obsession with Atlas lead to them dying with that city. Also James lowered his weapon because Cinder made him see with one word that all his actions since last Volume played directly in her and Salem's hand. That was the moment he realised how badly he fucked up. So he lowered his weapon and gave up, waiting to die.

julia

elijah losing it just from cinder doing her attachment to suck the power from penny is so. like this didn’t even mean she was gonna die. yet. it really is SO MUCH WORSEEEEE

Migli

AAAA I WASNT READY ALSO MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS ELIJAH 💖

Dreanner95

And remember the last time Jaune healed a life threatening wound? That has Weiss being speared by Cinder and it took him minutes to heal her. So Penny was right. With Cinder fighting Weiss without her Aura, they didn't have enough time.

ActualBampot

The Final Word was: Checkmate

julia

v8 finale really taking the cake as first episode where you see reactors check the time and get angry at how much more episode there is

Hi-Viz

Ironwood having built himself up in his head as a true opponent to Salem, only in his final moments to be completely ignored by her and discover that it was one of her minions who'd played him with the chess piece, absolute fire writing. And if you aren't sure, Ironwood is 100% dead. Not only was he in the bottom of a city that crashed onto another and was then flooded, the writers said it as well

SauceyRed

Does someone have a link to that RWBY hoodie? I can't find it

Hi-Viz

We see Cinder was literally about to make a swing that likely would have killed Weiss, if it wasn't for Jaune's scream distracting her

wallkettle

And here we all thought Penny's line "It'll be just like Beacon again!" in Vol7 was cute. It wasn't. That was a threat.

Fred Smith

The absolute most painful episode of the entire series. We REALLY need volume 10.

Rachel Mae

"I hope [ironwood] comes around" bestie an entire city just fell on him and then flooded. Atlas/Atlantis yes but also the myth of Atlas: "Atlas is a prominent Titan in Greek mythology, primarily known for his punishment by Zeus to eternally hold up the heavens on his shoulders after leading the Titans in the Titanomachy war" Ironwood acted like the weight of the world was on his shoulders alone but in the end he couldn't hold it all himself My condolences though this is a rough one to get through. "It'll be just like Beacon again!" Said Penny in v7... and then it was :')

julia

ah the classic “rwby reactor forgets that the final episode has like five minutes of credits in that runtime” maneuver. happens every time

Rachel Mae

Fairly certain that's old RT merch and no longer is available officially. Maybe Viz will bring back something similar one day but right now the only place you'd be able to find it is ebay or other similar sites

jessie H

I recommend having just a pitcher of tea at the ready. Your poor vocal cords are going to be in for a time in vol.9!

Taigan

First time I watched this series, I freaked out when Yang fell. When Blake and Ruby fell, I literally said “Oh thank god!” Cause I *knew* they wouldn’t kill off more than one! Geeze, when Elijah started screaming bullshit over Cinder starting to drain Penny, I was like “girl you haven’t even begun to see bullshit yet.” I was crying right along with you. Penny deserved so much more.

Luís Pacheco

Merry Christmas Elijah!🎄 And I'm sorry you had to see Penny's second death so close to it 😟

Beth Collins

Vol 8 eyes sobbing, vol 9 on the way!! Can't wait to see how you react to this one 😁

Zora Brightwood

"And like that 2025 comes to an end" (that one new year template on TT) Don't worry Elijah it can only get "brighter" from here. 😐😬

cipher

Penny got done dirty and I'm still salty about it 4 years later

Potato

Just pointing out the little detail cause last time it was compared to blake missing yang with her throw as spiderman failing the catch When she caught ruby she got thrown and she grabbed onto her first before grabbing both of them on gumble Kind of like a certain someone redeemed himself on that by learning from his mistake. ahem Also probably one of the only people i seen that caught the atlantis refrence

Flufux

Volume 9 is up there with 3 and 6 for me as my favourite volumes of the show, and am really looking forward to your reaction to it. Oh, and just to clarify: James Ironwood was confirmed to die offscreen when Atlas fell and was flooded, and the random background people that Cinder blew up that fell were confirmed to have all died instantly in the blast itself rather than the fall, so they won't show up wherever Team RWBY, Jaune and Neo ended up.

Deynix

I swear my cat could feel your distress through the screen. She curled up on my lap and purred through the whole bad part.

Isadora

Love the onesie! Now Elijah can finally go *pulls hoodie on* undercover.

SauceyRed

Ironwood didn't shoot because he (as well as us as viewers) knew it wouldn't do anything. He realized how truly powerless he was, and that he had lost.

Potato

On the bright side volume 9 is somewhat of a more upbeat and comedic time going back to the humor of the early volumes so i think its almost like the perfect bridge season from something extremely traumatic to something more cheery Also volume 9 officially consists from 10 episodes BUT theres a rough layout of what would have been episode 11 and the epilog to v9 but it got cut (possibly using it as a starting point for v10 when that comes along) but it still exists on youtube if need extra content or the thought of knowing what happens behind the scenes of v9 finale

Enchanted_Echo

Penny Polendina When she fell, Mantle fell and in turn Atlas fell along with them. She was more human than any other, she was their protector, the most powerful warrior to ever live, the winter maiden, someone with a heart of gold, and most importantly…….she was a Friend. I wish her ending didn’t happen as I adored her with her return and wanted to see more…..but it did make sense. Penny was basically stabbed and Wiess tried dealing with Cinder (a maiden) by herself with her aura popped and Jaune did all he possible could but healing her would only delay the inevitable. What had to be done made sense and strategic, so that Cinder would not get the powers and become even more dangerous. It was one of her choices she could make on her own and sadly her last. There can’t be and ever will be another Penny in RWBY and out. I was sad to see her go when I first watched it and see her ending in this way but great job to the writers and Taylor McNee (her VA) for her ending and brining her to life even before she became human physically because spiritually she always was. SALUTATIONS PENNY!

suhbrly

and when i say rwby is my comfort show i know i look absolutely insane. its nothing but pain and suffering

Chris Spigelmyer

Your reactions have been such a blast to watch, I genuinely can't wait till you get to V9.

Symbolic Remnant

“It’ll be just like Beacon again!” - Penny at the start of the Atlas Arc.

Chris Spigelmyer

I would also like to add that V9 is only 10 episodes because of budget that the company didn't have, but their is an 11th episode story board of what was going to be the original V9 ending.

Cassandra

I still, to this day, cry when I think about Penny. They gave her back to us just to make her human, complete her Pinocchio story, and then take her away from us again. I’m so sorry that you, or any of us had to go through this.

SauceyRed

I've personally avoided the epilogue thing just in case it is (or at least some parts are) reused for the start of V10

SauceyRed

For some reason I assumed Ironwood survived, I think I didn't realize/notice all of Atlas got flooded and not just Mantle. Anyway I always wondered about the regular citizens that fell, so that explanation is nice and makes sense.

SauceyRed

I never put together the play on words with Atlantis lmao, that's kinda sick

Potato

Thats most likely why it was scrapped from being the finale (aside that those little shits enjoy torturing people and leaving cliffhangers) itll either be polished as chapter 1 or atleast refrensed but i judt needed a more satisfying solution to volume 9 (not that it wasnt already) but yk Also i think by the time v10 comes out we probably would have forgotten the contents of that epilogue anyways XDDD

Moonas

Yes, Atlas means Atlatic in translation. Also Cinder said to Arthur "U deserve this" before she left.

Neo's Break Up Arc STAGE TWO: Bargaining

Solus

Yeah, this last RWBY episode hit the fandom hard, especially Penny's death, I know I cried like a baby, anywho here are my thoughts on James Ironwood, --I know a lot of people like to condemn Ironwood, and I understand where they are coming from but here are my thoughts on it. The way I see it is that he is a tragic downfall of what he once was. Don't forget that he was a good person and did do good things or else Oz wouldn't have invited him into his inner circle, but because of the way he kept making the wrong decisions towards the end is making it seem like he was a villain the entire time which is not true, it's very easy for someone to say I won't do things this way or I would do things that way looking from the outside, I think Salem who has lived a few thousand years and has eyes and ears everywhere knew what his semblance was and used that against him, I find it hard to believe that she didn't know, that's why I think his is more tragic and that he became a warped and twisted version of what he once was. --Now he is not fully blameless but I think his semblance was both his greatest strength and greatest weakness and I believe that was what Salem was doing by constantly wearing him down mentally so that he could not fight his semblance, and for those who do not know which they never say in the series as far as I know, his semblance is Mettle which you have to look up on his bio page and is defined as this: --Mettle - an ingrained capacity for meeting strain or difficulty with fortitude and resilience or a person's ability to cope well with difficulties or to face a demanding situation in a spirited and resilient way, but with his mind worn down from Salem's plans to what I think was to break him down mentally, his own semblance warped and twisted his own sense of justice and what is right. So, in essence his own semblance basically reinforced this idea that what he was doing was right over and over again to the point he became the villain. So, I understand why people condemn him, but I don't think it's fair to dump all the blame on him, these are just my thoughts and opinions on his situation.

The Laughing Man

Volume 9 will be a wild ride for you, even though volume 8 crushed your heart.

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

I couldn't listen to that song for over a year, just because I could tell it was a final summary of Penny's life.

Crawlspace

Go back and watch the Weiss/Winter and Ruby/Yang shorts that aired before volume 5. Can we say foreshadowing?

Symbolic Remnant

If you want to still hear Penny’s voice a lot in a much safer context… her VA runs a YouTube channel about Betta fish.

Joey245

Yeah...this episode, and Penny's death in particular, made my depression actually worse for a good year or so. I wish that was an exaggeration - I was sad, angry, and tired in ways I couldn't articulate for a very long time. Writing a "fix-it" fanfic that brought Penny back to life (with a crossover with BIONICLE because why not?) helped, as did a lot of chatting with friends, and I think I've gotten to the point where I wish it happened differently, but I understand why it happened the way it did. Can't wait to see you react to Volume 9! No lie, it's one of my favorite volumes in the entire show

Solus

now that I did not know and now I do lol

bloodyshadow1

...merry Christmas. You get heartbreak

Ann_Temki

I knew I was thinking about the cruel irony of the timing of this episode’s release, but posting this on Christmas Eve instead of on Friday is cruelly hilarious. Well played. Merry Deathmas everyone!😭

Solus

Also, Harriet Bree the member of the Ace Ops, all of my fellow RWBY fans that I know personally hate her guts, me included.

Enchanted_Echo

With the end of volume 8 we did our best to give you a heads up because……YUP, it is so much more traumatic than 3 was. The writers have confirmed though we didn’t see it when they full died, Arthur and Ironwood are very much dead, and we will not see their actual selves any time in the future. What’s worst about it all is with Qrow in my opinion because his nieces just disappeared and Atlas fell, as you saw with Winter last episode, they can’t even comminate because of the dimension AND Arthur took out communications so Qrow has to learn from Winter that his nieces are gone and he needs to let Raven and Tai know that the kids are gone and he hadn’t seen them sense near the end of Volume 7, just like everyone they were not able to say goodbye to Penny, Qrow couldn’t even say goodbye to them or protect them in a sense and now that guilt has to stay with him because in a sense…..they were his daughters too, his family, his home. We are also now 2/2 for Cinder underestimating Jaune as when she toyed with him in Volume 5, he almost stabbed her in the eye and with Cinder not paying any attention to Jaune he made sure she couldn’t get the powers and we saw that with the shock on Cinder’s face. And because of this when it’s time for Cinders comeuppance, it won’t be from Ruby who Cinder has it out for……but Jaune Now with us moving onto Volume 9, the last volume until you join the wait with us…..things are going to be a bit different this time around. There are only going to be 10 episodes this time because of budget issues, time, and the WB CEO being a dumb***, you’ll see more once you get to episode 1. In my opinion I would say watch episodes 1-6 at a time, not because in a way to milk more RWBY reactions but because it’ll flow a wee bit better because of how they are and if not, you might want to do Episode 6 by itself because a LOT goes on in that. Also, the second half of Volume 9 can be a bit……. much (mainly episodes 7 & 8) so viewing discretion is advised on that with the topic it will tackle . And with the ending there will be 4 bonus shorts after called RWBY: Beyond to watch and a rough draft of what was supposed to be episode 11, as the current fate of that episode for what will happen with Volume 10 is TBD, right now. And lastly in Volume 9, I think I know what you might be focusing on and want to focus on, however……there will be 2 characters you might want to take a closer look at with that they say and do and something or someone with a hidden allegory as well and they are not going to be Yake or Blang. Good Luck for Volume 9!

Dre

I’m not sure why people thought he would survive. Even if he didn’t get crushed when Atlas fell, the academy likely get flooded and he would drown. “No body no death” did count for Cinder when she fell at the end of volume 5. But in this case it feels much more conclusive.

.

Next volume is my favorite one. Can't wait for you to start it! When it comes to this finale, I'm always upset at the fact Penny dies so shortly after becoming a real girl. It's so tragic that her father never got to see her this way.

Sweg Money

Omg that’s you!! I followed Destiny’s Divide as it came out although I have not been keeping up as much with the sequel

Ryan

Choice, knowledge, creation, destruction. These are the four pillars on which humanity was built. And Penny experienced all four in her short time as a human girl.

Mare

Technically it was Crunchyroll who messed with the Volume 9 budget since they're the ones that funded V9. CRWBY was already done with up to episode 7 and that's when they got hit the the sudden budget cut that took them from the original 12 episodes to only 10. But yeah, I agree THAT Warner/Discovery's CEO David Zazlav is an ass. It's like, however wins the actual bidding war for Warner...good luck! I know Netflix is in the lead but people are still hoping Paramount wins out. At this point, I don't know who the lesser of evils is though Netflix' whole lack of theater-going experience is concerning.

CheetsAC7

I really liked that you caught so many of the little details around Weiss in the finale. So much happens and it can be easy to miss. Her firing Gambol Shroud and going one on one against Cinder, auraless, at the end are two of my all-time favorite scenes.

Tammy Ragsdale

So much heartbreak in this episode. Isn't it weird that more of them falling, which is a bad thing over all, somehow makes it better. Like it gives you hope. This is the villain's volume, in my opinion, especially Cinder. Overall, a lot of wins for her. But there will be room for it to turn around on her. She did burn a lot of bridges. Shoved Neo off that bridge, burned Watts. She's running out of allies to help her and it's clear she needs allies to pull these kinds of wins off. My favorite volume is next. I'm very excited.

Aerllette

Ya, i was an absolute mess for like a week after this one XD It still gets me even after all the time and seeing it many times. *hugs*

Suplee215

One thing about Ironwood is he got played hard. He didnt go nuts on his own. Salem purposefully targeted him because Atlas uniting woth the rest of the world was the only thing that could stop her. As far as we know,Salem never attacked a city directly before. Italso been through spies and manipulation. And even. Here she still uses them to push Ironwood to his limit and once hes there she shows up with a giant whale om his door step. James fucked up big time. But Salem and cinder sure deserve credit for making it happen. That was their goal.

Suplee215

Arthur too. It was a group effort really to break him down and damn did he break hard.

Wolfie Hart

And now, onto Volume 9. Oh Elijah... you're not ready.

Stabby_Taco

Yep. This one really wrecked me. And volume 9 didn't release for a full 2 years after it so it REALLY stung lol. Just a few things, Jaune is based off of Joan of Arc, and his blade was made with pure metal (from Pyrrah). Joan promised not to kill with her blade, and you can see that Jaune's blade breaks under the blood stain, which is why it broke. It was no longer pure. Also, Ironwood dies with the fall of Atlas and yes, it is a reference to Atlantis because the king got too greedy with the power which angered the gods, so Atlantis was flooded. Not to add more tears but Qrow was trying to contact Ruby at the end and you can see him scream her name. Also, Penny always had a martyr complex. You can see she's always willing to sacrifice herself throughout the show because she's just so kind and cares about her friends so much. Last but not least, there was a story that Oscar brings up that Ozpin says he recognizes. You should rewatch that scene :). With that, happy holidays to everyone, and I'm so sorry Elijah! Welcome to the Fandom 😭

Luminaxtea

Okay, I know you don't really pay attention to the soundtrack much, but the fact that we FINALLY get a Penny song in the end credits AFTER she fucking dies was like salt in the very fresh wound.

BrightHeart

Was super fun yesterday getting the bts updates via mosco

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

I haven't hit play yet, but I am so sorry. This one killed me. I couldn't stop weeping when I saw this episode and it took me a month before I watched a reaction to it. I have a few tears coming out while I am texting this.

LikeCat

Winter in the V7 finale (after Penny got the Maiden powers) „No, she is a part of you now" Penny in the V8 finale „I won't be gone I will be a part of you"

RavenFairy

I want to wish you and all your love ones a happy Christmas, and so sorry for this episode this is one of the worst episodes of the whole series.

SportySpice

I know it’s upsetting, but I do think this finale was needed to make Cinder a real villain again. She’s been taking L after L since the Fall of Beacon, but this made her a lethal, ruthless, cunning actual THREAT again. For the most part, the chips have been falling RWBYJNR’s way since V3. Some hiccups, sure, but having to pay horrible costs for a Pyrrhic victory is a real bookend to V3. Cinder has killed Pyrrha and Penny. She has to meet her end one day. But in some ways the Pyrrha wound has scarred a bit, but now it’s fresh. Look, I get liking villains (and Cinder definitely has her shooters), but part of liking a villain means accepting they will get got one day and it will deserved/satisfying. It felt a little sad during her Sad Wet Cat era during V4-7 but now it’s pretty foregone. She has to go IMO. Also “You chose nothing. This was a gift.” is one of my favorite lines in the series.

That moment when you realize that both ends of Arkos killed Penny; Pyrrha in V3 and now Jaune in V8

supersoaker

I hope you know that this was posted on Christmas for me

SportySpice

I think I read something after the finale, like “Cinder is the only person to learn the Power of Friendship to make herself WORSE”. She learns how to use allies, and immediately burns them for slights when she doesn’t need them again. Brutal.

SportySpice

I love how we are now 8 volumes in and she’s still surprised by the 5 min of end credits in the last ep of each volume.

Ronix

what a blast right

Sam

if its any consolation, least you can go to the next ep real soon. We had to wait 2 years with that cliffhanger :D

Sasraek

Also, the reason for him not shooting Salem or Cinder is because of the "and that's CHECKMATE" remark, the queen piece from season 3 was the symbol of the day his, Atlas, and many others end. so when he hear that, the tiny subconscious that was not controlled by -Mettle- (which was shown last episode when the Ironwood vs Winter fight was about to start, remember those tears under a hardened face?) overwhelmed his already broken semblance completely breaking mind with him realizing he played into their trap.

Bryan Forquer

We had to wait TWO WHOLE YEARS after this, for volume 9 to come out!! We were stuck with this cliffhanger for over two years!! We are definitely in the endgame now! I hate that Harriet survived, she absolutely deserved to die!

GeminiRosche13

The creators have confirmed that between the whole city crashing down and the flooding, Ironwood is dead

Leonrid Hart

RWBY hates redheads, Penny, Pyrrha and Roman

Saph

Yeah this finale is a rough one, sorry and Merry Christmas

Quentin.

This episode hurt. This episode hurt a lot but, in time, it became one of my favorites in the whole series. Volume 8 is a ride - painful, stressful, frustrating - and it leaves you with this sense of near hopelessness… but that's the idea. This is the big villain's win, the Empire Strikes Back of RWBY volumes, but this is not our heroes' end. The core of this whole show is to "keep moving forward" and we look to Volume 9 to remind us of that. Huge s/o to the legend Elizabeth Maxwell btw. Her performance as Winter has always been great but her performance in this episode alone is on another level. Her “Oh Penny” and “You chose nothing. This was a gift” are VA PERFECTION. Bless you guys, have a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

CrowOfAFeather

"I'm not blind to the whole "technically it was Neo who caused yang to fell, HOWEVER-" Nope. Nope. Nope. "Listen, hear me out-" Nope. "I have hope-" NOPE. It wasn't "technically" Neo. It was 110% Neo who did it, and a lot of other things since V2. Cool design/being "hot" a redemption arc does not warrant. "We're not gonna worry about it." Nope, I worry about it. Alright, I'm gonna have to stop being upset about this, but...yeah. I really hate Neo. For obvious reasons. So, no, there's not enough time because Weiss can't possible fend off Cinder, alone, with no Aura/Semblance, long enough for Jaune to heal Penny. It's a gradual healing, not an instant heal unfortunately. I know, it sucks. And it's not fair at all. Pietro's last exchange with Penny was literally her saying "I love you" and he didn't know what happened after she got the virus. Definitely not fair. "Oh James you better come around" just as the bottom of Atlas, there the chamber (and Ironwood is) crashed right into Mantle lol. And yes, one of the writers confirmed he's dead. "I have time!" Oh Elijah, when will you learn that the extra run time on volume finales are for the end credits? :P Yep, that's all you'll get for after credits scene. Now imagine having to wait for more a long time for an announcement instead of being able to jump right into it lol

EmberPanther

Happy Holidays! A couple of fun/sad facts about this episode! When we see Qrow in the ship after Atlas falls we can clearly see him mouth “Ruby?!” and “Yang?!”, showing that even though he was aware of the plan, he was still absolutely terrified that they didn’t make it out. Something I always found heartwarming about Blake risking herself to try and save Ruby is thinking about how Blake knows how deeply Ruby matters to Yang. She was likely determined to not let Yang’s little sister die after Yang was seeming killed trying to save her. When we see Weiss use both her sword and Blake’s, that is actually a drastic change from her normal style, and is very similar to how Winter prefers to fight. This is incredibly cool to me, because it makes me think that Winter was the one who had trained her from the start, and likely made sure she could use both one sword and two if she wished. The reason why Jaune’s sword broke while fighting Cinder is actually based on a supposed quote from Joan of Arc, that essentially goes “If I were to ever shed the blood of the innocent, I would not dare to wield my blade again, for it would shatter before aiding me again”, and since he had to kill Penny before fighting Cinder, his sword had “shed the blood of the innocent”, and therefore broke. The reasoning that Penny had for requesting Jaune end her had a couple parts. First off, she wanted to make sure that Cinder couldn’t forcibly take the power from her, and second off, she wanted to be able to be prepared and pick her successor. The song during the final credits is called Friend, and it is simultaneously the one of the most heartwarming and heartbreaking songs of the entire series. It is a song from Penny about how even though she didn’t live long, she was incredibly grateful for the time and friends she was able to have. ❤️

RenaissanceM

At the end of the Disney film, Pinocchio’s last act to become a real boy has him sacrificing his own life to save his family….. In her last moments….Penny proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was brave…..truthful….and selfless……she became a real girl…..and saved countless lives. We will miss you Penny. You were always a real girl to us. 🥺❤️🙏

Rob Bob

True! Also they also hate Jaune. They keep traumatizing the poor kid. I am genuinely surprised he has not had a full mental breakdown after all the shit the he has been through. Maybe in volume 10.

Evil Queen

Having to wait 2 years was absolutely brutal between this and Vol 9. That cliffhanger had me freaking out for months. You’re in denial about Neo, we are about to stage an intervention in these comments. 🤣 I’m so sorry Elijah, the full RWBY trauma train experience. Take some time to grieve and process. I can’t wait for the next reaction though as it’s one of my favorite volumes, and Merry Christmas to you and Mosco! 🐝

Jyoster

Mhmm, and even if he miraculously survived all of that, he probably would've ended himself regardless. He failed to protect Atlas, and gave Salem the key to end it all. He wouldn't be able to live with himself.

Jyoster

And we still have one more Volume to go. I'm not sure how she's going to end up once she catches up.

Tedious Rose

What makes me sad about Penny's death, is that the last words her father heard from her were "I love you"

Alexis Cardillo

Yeah none of us saw Penny’s fate coming, and they’ve made it clear that bring her back was a one time thing, and the cruel irony of Penny becoming a real girl made her vulnerable. But her final choice saved so many lives, we just wished she could have lived too. Pretty sure Salem can tell Cinder is bullshiting but yeah cause she now has half of the relics she’s letting her have this pass. As for Ironwood, CWBY confirmed that he died when Atlas fell, there’s no coming back for him either. At least you won’t have to wait 2 years to find out where team RWBY, Jaune, and Neo went.

Lyra

After all this time, the pain is still fresh

FanofFantasy

Your reaction did not disappoint!! I felt the same way after watching Penny die for basically the third time, I actually considered not watching any more. And if you think it can’t get worse, you’re dead wrong!!!!! P.S. Ironwood is super dead

Jessica Starr

The pain never leaves. Seen several people react to this season and every time they cry and I start crying all over again......because of Penny's goodbye to her father, the realization Jaune had to be the one to killer cause the creators wanted symbolysm....Pyrrha was the one to kill Penny as a robot, and it broke her. Now Jaune killed her as a human, with the sword and shield made with pyrrhas armor, that broke after killing her, it was just recreating the same scene 😭😭

Phoenix_mercury

For IW, he tried to be the only one holding the weight of atlas and as such was crushed by his own choices until atlas created Atlantis 👀

James S

Atlas went from the City in the Clouds to the City Under the Sea.

Azzora Rose

Not fun fact: there was an early draft of volume 3 where Jaune was forced to kill Pyrrha after she defeated Cinder. I guess the power was supposed to turn her insane in that version :(

Azzora Rose

Elijah has said before that she has hope for Neo because her and Roman's book proves she is capable, not simply because she's attracted to her

CrowOfAFeather

I know that, but still. Like, I've read the book as well and there's nothing in it that shows she's redeemable. If anything it shows she's a psycho since day 1. Yes, victim of tragic circumstances, but nothing that says "yeah she's so redeemable, so let her get away with everything and don't hold grudges against her."

ConnorH265

With v9 coming soon i think it's time for me to start my wish for you to react to the fan animated rwby teams like the charcoal and team slvr trailers + episode 1 and react to the team dark trailers and the 3 episodes that are out atm because the great thing about this community is how many people started to do 3d animation because of this series and it's a good way to see how much rwby has impacted people

Eme

I'm sorry :( thanks for the Xmas gift though

PheonixCantra

same and i struggled to watch the first one i watched

Suplee215

I think the ace ops are so well written. It would be easy for them to be 100 percent bad no matter what with 1 exception but theyre not. For most it might be too little too late but its damn interesting to see how each one breaks off near the end and why. The ace ops have the same problem most characters from Atlas has. The culture of Atlas as a whole pushes down feelings for duty. Whether thats duty to the company, the family, the company, the military, the general (not Ironwood I dont think but we never got to see if anyone will follow ironwood if he kost the job). It is duty to an abstract concept at the expense of the indivual. For some its a coping mechanism to deal with the grief they constantly feel. Harriet lost not only Clover but also a good friend Torguga shortly before season 7 begins and the new Faunus member was his replacement. Others do it because thats how theyre raised and they struggle with it to various degrees. Weiss, Winter and Penny all examples that turn out on the other side. With penny beijg the most opposite and winter still feeling cold and duty but it fits. And then theres James who completely loses his self for a duty that engulfed what the duty was supposed to be. He was so set on protected Atlas the city he ended up destroying Atlas/mantle the people in tbe process.

Vegvisir92

"James you better come around" James: * becomes a smear of red paste on the ground after being crushed yeh i don't think a pile of jam is gonna come around

FanofFantasy

I think I speak for all of us when I say Elijah NEEDS to post the video Mosco took of her processing Yang’s fall. Elijah if you’re listening please upload it!!!

Victor Papa

"You chose nothing. This was a gift." Chills. Every time.

General Tacticus

It wounds me in my soul every time you and Mosco skip the finale credits songs 😩 They're the reason the finales always have an extra five minutes of runtime! Watch themmmm, I promise they're worth it!

General Tacticus

Also, yes, you are feeling what we all felt when we got here 🫂

LikeCat

To the point of your first part: The V8 end credit song is EVIL... The callbacks to ACTUAL lines. 😭

Hakori

That's why it's so good though

Ryan

I can just see it in the YouTube edit. Elijah: "...and with that out of the way, let's get into it!" ("One hour later" interstitial from SpongeBob) Elijah: *face down on the floor sobbing*

Dyamalos

I also feel like the Ace Ops are the prime example of the issue with "Just following orders." These kinds of things don't start with the biggest atrocities imaginable, but slow build up that might *seem* reasonable in the moment but each time they have to do worse and worse things to justify everything else they did up to that point, because if they stop then they have to accept all the bad things they did by blindly following "duty". Harriot was the only one who didn't seem to be questioning what was happening because she was so angry over the loss of clover it blinded her to what was going on, and even before that she was very much a loyalist to a fault rather than making her own decisions. They all detached themselves from the personal relationships because they thought it was what they had to do, but she was the most die-hard doing it. Even Clover was obviously friendly with other people and seemed to let himself get somewhat closer to people, yet still messed up by idiotically following orders to arrest Qrow while a mass murderer had escaped.

Suplee215

Honestly I dont think clover messed up too much by wanting to arrest qrow. The priority of the situation was a big mess up. But the very first time they met, clover arrested qrow and then they let them go. Could easily be another mix up.

Dyamalos

It's one of the things that make this show so good. They are willing to have these moments that hit hard because it makes things feel more "real". They are in a literal war for the survival of their entire planet against a malignant force of destruction. If they didn't suffer losses the victories wouldn't be nearly as satisfying. It's why the ending of vol5 was so good. It was a literal triumph after their loss in vol3. It was Cinder getting some comeuppance, even if short lived, and Yang realizing being scared didn't make her weak, that she was stronger than Raven, even if not physically yet, and that even though she still had PTSD she was starting to heal. That culminated in Yang and Blake finally taking out Adam despite both of their bast trauma. Too many shows are unwilling or unable to have these moments and a lot of that is executives not wanting to have decisive or traumatic moments. Movies tend to be a bit more free with it, but even those will rarely do this because they are scared about driving away viewers. Also Movies don't usually have enough time for us to get attached to characters because of the shorter runtime. The closest I've seen from other media like RWBY was Avengers: Endgame, and even as heavy a hit as that movie ended on you still knew that they were going to fix things eventually.

Vic Walker

I'm so sorry, but at least you won't need to wait too much to jump into volume 9! Bear in mind, Volume 9 is THE volume I think it's a NEED to watch at least 2 times. Because there is TONS of details that you will miss, and it's kinda on purpose to keep the surprises coming. I know you are rewatching with Mosco, so you will get there one day, and understand how the volume hits so differently the second time (it gets even better).

Vic Walker

Also about Ironwood not shooting: so you can see how scared of Salem he is. He is a piece of shit at this point.

Ruesteria

Up until volume 10, I had watched every episode the day it released and have rewatched myself or other reacters to these scenes and to this day I still cry everytime I witness the passing. It will never not hurt. I'm sorry you have gone through this too but misery loves company.

General Tacticus

I don't think it's just that he's scared (although, you know, he is - there's a reason his actions at the end of V7 lead directly into Fear sung over the credits). He's also been beat absolutely to shit and only just regained consciousness; he can't even manage to stand up. I think he doesn't shoot because his eye and hand are too unsteady to line up the shot... and then he gives in to despair as they leave and he can only accept that he has lost and there's nothing he can do about it.

Cinder's Apologist

I knew this finale would be rough. but damn... you have my sympathies. truly. but to be quite blunt: this was the mission impossible for Team RWBY. I know it's tempting to look back and go "but they could have..." and no, it just wasn't going to work. they got to Atlas and a perfect storm hit where everything went against the heroes. they were never going to win outright; all they could do was mitigate the damage and do what ultimately matters most. THEY SAVED PEOPLE. as a dear friend once told me while I agonized over what hope was left after volume 8: they got thousands of people to safety. that alone is hope. <- and this is something worth keeping in mind heading into volume 9. you are correct that them falling is not automatic death. beyond that, I cannot say anything else. I did like the remarks you made about the pacing of everything, which made me realize that it was very much intentional. not just for the sake of the finale, but to drive home that adrenaline rush and sheer intensity of being in the middle of a series of fights - IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR. it's supposed to feel that crazy, that intense, like you can never catch a break. that was v8 in a nutshell and the finale simply ramped it up. these fighters are running on empty and still trying to give their all. those are also very important to remember moving forward. my deepest condolences over That Moment. but I must add something I realized a year or two ago about why that scene matters... Penny giving the power to Winter is not JUST because "You were my friend." of all the people in Atlas that Penny had to be around before the main cast showed up, aside from her father of course, Winter was the ONLY person to see Penny as a person. not just a robot, not some machine, a PERSON. Winter did not have to befriend Penny, but she did anyway, most likely because she saw Penny like a little sister... perhaps like Weiss once was. Winter was correct in recognizing that Penny was a Maiden at heart while she, Winter was the machine just following orders. BUT! Penny is also able to see that Winter does have a heart, that Winter was still a good friend because she saw the real girl while others could not or would not. and that made all the difference. also, note that up to now, Maiden power transfers were tragic... but Winter receiving it is framed as triumphant, even hopeful. because Winter has no vault to protect, AND because it was given to her, not taken by force. a major tone shift. and I have such hopes for Winter's character growth moving forward! Ironwood is dead. he died with Atlas. that's it. Miles Luna, co-director and writer at the time, remarked that they had planned all along for Ironwood to go out like that: the villains would not even acknowledge him because he did not matter to them. it's so poetic because he really tried to make himself into a hero capable of matching Salem, but his willingness to sacrifice everyone else proved to be his undoing. (and frankly, he was always doomed from the start; dude rolled up with his army without asking for permission and showed a tendency of brute force to get his way) I seriously do not believe Jaune will ever "avenge Pyrrha" in that way. he tried that in volume 5 and he failed. miserably. that's not the point of who he is. all that being said, I have faith you will enjoy volume 9, even with the emotional roller coaster that's in store. it's quite a special one!

Cinder's Apologist

unlike Salem, Ironwood cannot regenerate himself after being smeared into paste

Angelus Lupus

I think I've said it before, but I really hope there will be videos of Elijah and Mosco's Kamicon panels.

Phoenix_mercury

The man who tried to hold up the weight of the world was the reason it was lost to the rest of the world

man-of-bvz1n3ss

And that's how Vine became my favorite member of the Ace-Ops! He's kinda underrated IMO. CRWBY confirmed Weiss being the last one to fall is representative of her being the only member of Team RWBY from Atlas, and therefore giving everything to protect the refugees. So unfortunately, pretty much all of Volume 8 is building up towards Penny sacrificing herself. She finally gains autonomy by breaking away from her dad and the next thing that happens is she sacrifices herself for the good of others because that's who she is. They hold on to her a little longer, but at that point it's just delaying the inevitable. Wow, just on this rewatch I am starting to love the parallel between Weiss and Winter's fights. Oh, I didn't even notice that parallel between James' reflected blast and Penny's laser! Watts' last words are "Believe me, this is everything I've ever wanted." Ironwood doesn't shoot because he finally realizes that it's pointless. He's only made everything worse, Salem's immortal, and Cinder blocks bullets with her hands. There's no way he can improve things, and he finally learns that he's not always right when he dies. Also, yeah, he's dead, so there's no coming around for him.

Luke Byers-Jones

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention about Jaune's sword breaking is the part that broke off - it has Penny's blood on it. CRWBY are telling us her blood isn't on his hands, it's on Cinder's.

Zero Blazer Gaming

Theirs still a chance that Penny could come back. Have her father give part of his Aura while Jaune is boosting him.

Phoebeus

And thus ends my favorite volume(s) of the series. 💔 It hurts so much, but looking back, Volumes 7 & 8 are the pinnacle of RWBY (to date) for me. Near-peak of its visual art, awesome fights, writing that just keeps hitting again and again, and the growth of Winter, Penny’s (heartbreaking) arc, Iron Wood’s slow fall to rock bottom, all of RWBY & ORNJ’s growth on display? It’s the top for me, and I am so happy to see it shared. That said! I have a lot of love for Volume 9, too, so I can’t wait to see your reaction to that, too. Your reactions to the series have been so great, I’m sure I’ll love Vol. 9 even more through them.

Arashi

Something to note about this volume's naming schemes and how chapter 14 does (and yet doesn't) break it. The Last Word. What was the last word of the chapter? 'Checkmate'. Fitting with the volume's naming scheme. That said... on to the pain and anguish and suffering. I'm told it builds character, not seen concrete evidence myself, but... you know. No more James, the Vault was at/near the bottom of Atlas, thus the first thing that hit Mantle and then was hit by the rest of Atlas. Then flooded. 6 volumes ago, Salem managed to destroy Beacon Academy though without gaining the relic within. Now she erased a whole kingdom and got half of the relics. Poor Qrow, he has no idea what's happening. More so with Pietro and Maria. Final goodbye to Penny now. She was rebuilt before because they recovered an intact core from Amity, but now the core from her 'old body' is not only virus ridden, but likely demolished and underwater, any 'new' Penny would be an entirely new girl. Now we are left with Volume 9 and the pre and post Volume shorts RWBY: Beyond and then you are caught up to all of us awaiting word on the if/when of Volume 10.

LikeCat

Actually Penny's old body was „destroyed" by the Relic the moment they created the doorways... You can see it descorporateing as Penny walks to the doorway in the Vault

Bug Catcher Jacky

From this point forward, I'm going in blind as well cuz I couldn't find volume 9 anywhere ;-; Amazing reaction as always, Elijah.

CB Jones

Oh Penny. Her death left me conflicted, it's heart wrenching and I don't feel like Penny's own arc builds to it in the same way that say Pyrrha's did in Vol3, but it fits with everything else that's happening in the story. As despicable as she is Cinder earned this win, she cooperated with others rather than ordering them and put Watts' and Neo's goals ahead of her own, albeit temporarily. She grew as a character and got better (at being evil). Also from a narrative standpoint she needed to win here or risk becoming a chracter that we're told is strong but never actually accomplishes anything, her last real "win" was in V3 and even that nearly killed her. Jaune spent 3 volumes coming to terms with Pyrrha's death and accepting that she had known she was going to die but chose it anyway because she believed that it might save others, only to have that acceptance turned on him in the cruelest way possible when Penny asks him to help her carry out a similar choice. And Winter. In Vol7 Penny is the one to reach Fria because Winter's aura is depleted and Cinder's doesn't cover her grimm arm. On a narrative level Penny is the only one of the three with a soul, Cinder sold hers for power and Winter gave hers up for purpose and shelter from her father. This Volume then is about Winter taking back her soul, choosing for herself what's right and pusuing it whatever it costs her. She's finally worthy of being given the power Ironwood wanted her to take. And I will also say that I like that Penny's final decision is a selfish one. She needs to give the maiden powers to someone who can protect the evacuees and ideally Weiss and Jaune, the logical choice would be Weiss herself, or even Nora. She doesn't even know if Winter is alive right now, she should've shown up by now according to the plan. But Winter has been Penny's closest friend besides maybe Ruby, Penny believes in her and wants to see her again and so she picks her. And her hope is rewarded, she gets to see her friend again.

Azzora Rose

Alright I'm sorry but I started laughing in the middle of the most emotional scene this episode when Elijah continued calling Jaune "Shawn"😂

Azzora Rose

Elijah voiced in the past that she doesn't listen to any of the music because she tried in the past and felt like it was spoiling the plot

Azzora Rose

I don't think Elijah or anyone is cheering for Neo to get away with everything? She just wants her to join the fight against Salem. And in all honesty, we should hold a grudge against Emerald for causing just as much if not more harm, yet team RWBY chooses to work with her regardless because they need everyone they can get. Also, Neo is not a psychopath, she's a sociopath. The difference is the former completely lacks empathy and the ability to have relationships, while the latter can have both. Her relationship with Roman and a particular thing in the upcoming volume proves she has aspects of both. I also wonder if we read the same book, because the beginning of it proves her parents mistreatment is a big reason for how she ended up the person she became. Even further proving she's a sociopath - they are usually made, not born

Azzora Rose

Rob Rob welllllll... I'd say he kind of has, but that's getting into Elijah's unwatched territory

General Tacticus

Really? Damn, that's a shame. It's not like the music gives any information that the writers didn't intend to put out there. Some RWBY songs foreshadow stuff, but so do the episodes, the character shorts, the World of Remnant stuff, etc.

CrowOfAFeather

Knowing what I know, without spoiling for obvious reasons; hat's basically what happens. Emerald at least showed as early as V3 some remorse, calling the Grimm invasion "horrible" and stating that she's not loyal to Salem, but "owes Cinder everything." in V5. Now that she finally understands that Cinder never cared for her, and thanks to Hazel's sacrifice, she has been given a chance for redemption and she's currently working to earn it now that she has "switched sides" as she put it. Neo though? She commits murder without a care. Yes, she had horrible parents, a victim of tragic circumstances, and she continues down that path down to the very end without any remorse. I can't name anything specific, but certain moments in V9 made me feel sick to my stomach and see it go unpunished was...fucking infuriating. And I've seen far too many people being happy about it, with some even cheering when something happened revolving a certain...cup. Because Neo was smiling and happy. Or the whole thing with Neo blatantly being responsible for what happened to Yang and Elijah went "Yeah Blake, go get CINDER!" and almost seeming disappointed when Blake rightfully goes after Neo instead. And then proceeds to be impressed that Neo can fend off two at once without acknowledging Yang's sacrifice or anything. Thank you for correcting me however,. I admittedly was wrong and I stand corrected. I'll also admit that I'm biased against Neo because of this heavy dislike for her, but I just wish there had been a sense of knocking her off her high horse and force her to work for redemption instead of basically getting away without as much as a slap on the wrist.

TheyWereMarried

I grew up on Xena. (As per my icon) And other shows with complex characters like her, so I'm very familiar with characters that have a dark side, characters that have a really dark past/present. But then they get a redemption arc that's well written and believable. So I still hope, even after everything Cinder has done, that she gets a well written believable story arc and joins the fight against Salem. I think eventually Cinder, Raven and Winter are going to have to team up with whoever the Spring Maiden is to defeat Salem. Whatever that defeat looks like, because obviously she can't be killed but like Ruby said, she can be stopped.

Jasmine King

I also love Xena! I think from Cinder I wouldn't want a redemption arc that involved her becoming friendly with team RWBY. That is so far beyond repair, but I would like to see the moment she begins to care about the suffering she causes. Relating back to Xena, the title character has that sort of arc. She was ruthless, but ended up seeking atonement. I'd hope actually that seeing Emerald make a different choice would remind her of her childhood. Remind her that killing for power wasn't the only option. I kinda look at Neo as a sort of Callisto type. Someone who got f*ucked over by Cinder, and as a result does terrible things. I think we would get a similar rise to good from Neo.

WishingEel

You're absolutely right about Atlantis btw! A quote I often see get passed around regarding this episode is, "[...] and in a single day and night of misfortune all your warlike men in a body sank into the earth, and the island of Atlantis in like manner disappeared in the depths of the sea." (Plato - Timaeus and Critias)

WishingEel

The wicked demon in me always likes to remind people after this episode that aaaaall the way back in volume 1, when Jaune was trying and failing at flirting with Weiss, Yang called him "ladykiller" 😭😭😭

Enchanted_Echo

pssst go onto the website called internet archive you may find some treasure if you look up RWBY ;)

Jonathan Smith

It's also on Hulu if you have access

Hi-Viz

I think an apt comparison in the possibility of Cinder getting some degree of redemption is Locus from Red vs Blue. When he finally finds out that Felix, his combat partner, has been trying to keep him mentally broken because without him Felix won't be able to stand alone, he turns on him, then leaves, pledging that he'll make amends in his own way

Hi-Viz

"Harriet deserved to die" Hey what's your opinion on Neo real fast?

Hi-Viz

Even so far apart Arkos are still doing couple activities, it's so heartwarming

Hi-Viz

I think the Crunchyroll aspect is actually what ALLOWED them to finish V9, not them screwing the budget

Bryan Forquer

I feel the same way about Neo, I never liked her character to begin with.

Konrad Dunbar

I'm a little late to this reaction, but my favorite little theory is the penny is alive within winter much like oz is with oscar except about! this is partially because she was described as being something other than human, the fact that winter and penny's interaction is special because afar as we known this didn't happen when cinder got her powers, and because there's a soul fusing machine that they still haven't used to UNFUSE souls like oz and oscar--or more importantly penny and winter! granted all this is just me taking copium as the kids say and out of all the weapons, Weiss use blake's ;A; she has the most familiarity with all the way back in volume 2 and using it really reflects how much these two have grown, especially with the whole "our weapons are a part of us" mantra of the series also james is dead lol he was ON atlas while it fell

Dragonrune

How? As mentioned in another comment Penny's mechanical body discorporated/evaporated.

Dragonrune

I have a question on Vine's sacrifice. Why couldn't he have just surrounded the bomb itself within his barrier and held it outside the ship? It would have exploded without a sacrifice. (Maybe that is why? CRWBY wanted/needed a sacrifice here?)

man-of-bvz1n3ss

There's not much point given that'd still be close enough to the blast to kill him.

Rixec2

Yeah, this was a heartbreaking one. You'll definitely want to be with Mosco personally when she gets here. And as for Ironwood, I believe the reason he didn't shoot was because the weight of his actions finally hit him as Cinder declared checkmate. He realized in that moment how he had become the villain. He pushed away and killed friends, believing himself to be the sole hero standing against Salem. In the end, Salem barely acknowledged him. It was the army he provided Ozpin that gave her concern, believing Ozpin could take command of them to create a bigger threat. He finally understood it as his eyes widened. He has no one to blame but himself.

Lisi Stoire

Something I only notice now is that Penny's aura seems lower (or at least less apparent) than it generally appears on screen when someone gets injured or when Jaune is boosting them. As if she's deliberately preventing it to heal her, to the point that even Jaune's boost has no or little effect on her. She didn't just begged Jaune to kill her, she litteraly gave him no choice to do so 😢

Slab Beefstick

God, I can't wait for you to start reacting to the music....

Kev Rink

It's actually kind of a relief that there were so many Grimm in the Vacuo desert. Winter just became one of the most powerful women in Remnant, her sister was seemingly just killed by Cinder, and she's really angry. Who better to take it out on. She can also practice her new powers

Kev Rink

I still want someone to say something to Cinder like "So you believe in destiny? Are you ready to face yours?" as they draw their weapon

Kev Rink

Can y'all imagine what will happen when Salem finds out that Cinder lied about Ruby? Honestly tho, if Salem wants to kill her for that, she'd better get in line

Kev Rink

I think those are the best possible final words to her father
