The fact that Blake seems to be imitating Adam here, and is wearing his mask and using a red blade. There was Blake’s book (The Man With Two Souls), and some Belladonna flowers in that library room of the mansion. Neat little touch. Little bummed that we didn’t get more of Ruby’s nightmare but oh well. Three episodes left, gotta keep moving. Still. Poor Baby Weiss… they just want to help. Okay, but Yang coming through the door on Bumblebee is still really cool.

Not Blake and Raven in One character it's Blake and Adam. kind of what Blake would have become if she never left the White fang. Next episode, the explainer for wtf just happened here and what Blake's insane plan is that made her like that. Only really 2 eps left, the story really ends with 11, 12 is mostly just advancing along things at beacon so IQ more closely follows the main show. The name of the last episode is a dead give away that it is mostly a retelling and re-contextualizing of events from the main show.

yep, that is the real Weiss reaching out to Ruby within the other dream. fun fact: this rendition of "Mirror, Mirror" was sung by Casey Lee Williams. of course she sang the original, but you can tell how much she's grown up in addition to the obvious somber tone. ding! ding! ding! Blake's prison was meant to "keep her safe" like the others. not only are there bookshelves inside, but there's a belladonna flower vase, and the White Fang symbol on the door is the old logo - before Sienna took over. in other words, the White Fang that Blake wanted to be a part of, not the one she ended up being in. Pyrrha using Lil Myrtenaster is indeed a cute sight hehe :3 OMG I NEVER REALIZED THAT... Negative Weiss having black emblems like her gravity glyphs... that's good.

Oh, don't worry, plenty of us have noticed the same about Balke resembling Raven, even if she was meant to evoke Adam. As such, it gave us the meme Yang's Mommy Issues. And fun fact, while Weiss is based off Snow White and plenty of things still evoke that such as the glass coffin and apple, the Nightmare Grimm - between the thorny vines and "cursed" sleep - also end up evoking Sleeping Beauty.

My read on that opening scene is that half of that is the real Weiss and the other half is the Nightmare speaking *through* her Also, speaking as a WhiteRose shipper, that scene is my favorite in this episode and one of my favorites in IQD as a whole

The way Weiss stands on a chair to talk to Ruby in the top bunk is a little unsettling because it evokes someone about to hang themselves. At least that's the vibe I got.

Plus I don't think Blake has any idea what Raven looks like unless Yang showed her a picture at some point...but I don't think even Yang knew for sure this far back because I think the only photo that exists is Qrow's, and he deliberately put his thumb over her face when showing it to Yang & Ruby in Volume 3, which hasn't happened yet. Blake never once even sees Raven in Volume 5; Raven's already in the Vault by the time Blake reaches the Main Hall at Haven Academy. There are some that argue the photo on Yang's scroll in the Yellow Trailer is an image of Raven and that makes the most narrative sense, but I always thought it was an image of Blake from the train heist.

Monty Oum debunked that theory of Blake in the photo. According to his production notes the picture Yang shows to Junior is a piece of artwork by Monty Oum called Transient Princess, which depicts the character Rinoa from Final Fantasy VIII with "hair that transitions into the threads of a feather.” That artwork was used as a placeholder for the character Yang is actually searching for, who is later revealed to be Raven Branwen. Honestly I think the link happened when Ruby got cut the first time by the vines. And I do believe because of that it created a dream link, so this was Weiss actually talking to Ruby.
