oh man I’m getting teary eyed already. this ep still kills me even 20+ yrs later. I was a complete wreck all week after this aired. and it was just a couple days before my 15th birthday 😭 you almost nailed the 24th anniversary of this ep lol. I def understand getting hit hard in the feels by tv shows. that was already a heart wrenching scene at the end, but after being at my mom’s side when she died it hit even harder. ben and claudia just absolutely killed it, and it makes me sad that shows like this aren’t given serious consideration for the big awards. we also finally see a wormhole weapon and how absolutely devastating it can be. huge scarran ship gone in seconds. no one should have this ability but scorpy is on the cusp of figuring out the tech, so what are they gonna do about it? also I don’t think we ever have to worry about crais wanting to give john a hug 😆

When the episode where we got 2 Johns first aired, I remember watching it thinking "oh kinda weird let's see how they resolve this." Then the episode ended and they didnt resolve it. Then new episodes came and went and they didnt resolve it. Then little did we know what we all thought was a weird little side thing of having 2 Johns would become this absolutely legendary masterpiece.

I'd like to debate your view on the two Johns. They are not twins. Aeryn was in love with John before he was copied. So, she is in love with both versions. She was with the John that died on Taylon and she gave into her feelings with that version of John, but they are the same person. If she had remained on Moya, there is just as much chance that she would have been with that John in the exact same way. Their life was exactly the same until the moment he was copied. Aeryn will have to grieve for this John and come to terms with the other John because his feelings for her have not changed. And, since they are the same person, she will have to deal with her feelings for that John as well. It's not like she is meeting his twin brother, it's like she is seeing John again...he just doesn't remember their time together on Taylon.

What an awesome way to take out that Dreadnaught. Yes, John basically threw part of the sun at it. Such an amazing death scene, I think you can clearly tell when Jo/hn becomes unable to see. If you notice at one point he stops focusing on anything. Also, John borrowed his final words, "I've never felt better." from famed Silent Film-era Hollywood actor and stuntman, Douglas Fairbanks, Sr(1883-1939. He was the very first actor to play Zorro in The Mark of Zorro(1920). He was a founder of United Artists and was the first host of the Academy Awards in 1929. Aeryn crawling under the blanket with John's body is my favorite part of this final scene. Next time on Farscape... stuff.

I knew the thumbnail would just be her sobbing. Yeah. Yeah. We've all been there. I've rewatched this show at least a dozen times and I cry every time. The two John's plotline is so big and bold and they treated it so magnificently. Because I'm not sure we can say Moya John isn't the John she fell in love with. She was confessing her love from the start of the season and as early as late season 1, she obviously had feelings she didn't know how to name or what to do with. She just finally let herself give in to it with TalynJohn. She threw away everything she was taught her whole life about emotional attachment. And this is what happened. It's so much worse than identical twins, because MoyaJohn is still John. A John that had a different last few months. How different is he and how different is she? How much will it matter and where will it take them to? It's such a fascinating, confusing, painful situation. Really looking forward to watching Angela take the journey.

This show! When it originally aired I really felt the loss! You sorta figured Talyn John was Dead John Walking, but it hit hard anyway. But I didn’t feel cheated because the 2-parter was epic, and a fitting death for the lead character. Claudia and Ben—man, they nailed it!

I really liked the Talon part of the story. Something I picked up on this rewatch is that Crais and Talon probably felt themselves getting shot to death after the Scarran was neural linked. Blind, confused, and a suicide by proxy. There’s some hardcore moments in this show, but this one is up there.

I've recently reconnected with an old friend I knew years ago (decades, actually), who at one point moved to the West Coast and we kind of lost touch. But recently, she moved back to NY and we've been hanging out a fair amount lately, which has been great. Anyway, why I am I telling this story? Because one of the things I found out about this friend of mine, which I actually didn't really know when I knew her back in the day, is that she's a huge science fiction fan. Watched all the Treks, loves Strange New Worlds (which reminds me I have to watch more of it), and a bunch of other good stuff. So we're comparing notes, and I ask her about the Battlestar Galactica reboot and yes, she watched that and loved it. Cool. What about The Expanse? Got the usual reaction to that: "I watched the first couple episodes and it just didn't grab me." Yeah, we'll work on that. But then she mentioned that she watched Stargate back in the late 90s and 2000s and I said what about Farscape? And this is where she blew my mind. She said she watched it, and enjoyed it, right up until "they split the crew." And then she stopped, because I guess she didn't like the idea or something? Man. I have some work to do. And watching this episode again reminded me what amazing story beats they got from that one decision. And as you surmised, Angela, it's only going to get more complicated from here. It was a daring thing these writers did -- and an amazing one, a storytelling gift that keeps giving. Time to get my friend to reconsider, methinks.

There really is just nothing like Farscape; I love a ton of shows, but man this one was the most special. I'm a dude and don't often respond deeply emotionally to show, but this show just hit all the feels and emotions full spectrum, all of it.
