this episode is weird -- whenever I think back retrospectively on S6, this one was never my favorite -- but every time I actually rewatch the episode, I find myself enjoying almost every second. i'm not sure what made me dislike this episode for so long drunk Rory steals the show. "look at these brilliant pirates... look at their brilliant BEARDS"

Josef Schiltz

"Oh, my god! They killed Kenny!"

Leo Cap

"TOBY!" "RORY!" "THE TARDIS!!!" 😂😂😂

Frederik Jensen

I know what you mean. Do you think its where it's placed in the season? After the two parter opening and before.. looking at imdb... next 5 episodes.

Rach

It's a really strong season - I think this one just gets lost in the mix because it's a fairly average standalone adventure. It's not bad, just surrounded by more exciting stuff.

Ben

It's funny you should mention the placement of this episode in the season as it was originally intended to be much later in the series but was swapped with another episode which could be why it might feel a bit out of place.

Jamie Clarke

Good episode, Hugh (Downton) Bonnerville another British acting royalty as Captain Henry. I can’t wait for episode 4 it is my absolute favourite and really intrigued on what you’ll think.

Rory constantly in distress -- because if Amy (the damsel) was constantly in distress - and old, worn out trope?

funnylilgalreacts

I think it’s because they heed him from existence in the first season. I’m terrified they’re gonna do it again.

Jeff Ratcliff

The Doctor could have switched off with Amy in trying to resuscitate Rory.

James Fleischman

A bat in the cave... how have I never heard that one before!

Lloyd Brady

Henry Avery/Every (the pirate captain) was a real life pirate who disappeared (never captured or killed) soon after a successful raid on a convoy of ships belonging to the Grand Mughal of India, capturing a treasure of gold and jewels worth in today’s money over ($100 million). It’s thought he changed his name and retired to a quiet life with his treasure, but we now know he’s flying a space ship amongst the stars!

Sean Williamson

I forget sometimes that Angela hasn't seen Downton Abbey. Hugh Bonneville (The Captain) is a main character in that.

Benjamin

"a mulligan for mulligan" that's should be a t-shirt xD.

Daniel Osorio

You: "Maybe we all have to cut ourselves and get taken?" Me: "Now your thinkin like The Doctor!"

Colin 3of5

Hi Angela In the episode you seem surprised that the ship could be becalmed at sea. have you ever heard of the sargasso sea or the Doldrums

Yvette

Yeah it’s the only episode in this season that doesn’t drive the seasonal arc forward

glenn sawyer

Do you see how Rory and micky have verry similar story arcs, except Rory stays with his girl and marries her. Rory's turning point is being the "Rory the Roman" and he isnt done being "Rory the Roman"

glenn sawyer

The only thing is the captain and his son, that we know of after this is referenced should i say without giving anything away

Leo Cap

It's kind of prophetic that you said "hello, baby" when Doc finds the Tardis. you know, for the next episode
