D&D has a lot of goofy spell components. Fireball specifically needs bat guano and sulfur, which in the real world is an old alchemical form of gunpowder. The Flesh to Stone spell requires Lime, water, and earth, which is the formula for Concrete. Minor illusion requires fleece to "pull the wool over someone's eyes." The component for the Detect Thoughts spell is a copper coin-literally "A penny for your thoughts?" My favorite is Gust of Wind, which requires a bean. It's literally just a fart.

To answer a question without getting into spoilers, part of Fjord's powers allow him to summon the sword to his hand more-or-less at will. We first got a glimpse of this in Episode 2 when the sword appeared in his hand when he was talking to the guards after Jester bumped into him.

Loving this season so far! The changes from the campaign work very well in my opinion and I can't wait to see what they do next! My biggest takeaway so far: Essek must feel like the biggest goober on the planet right now. The guy betrayed his nation to partner with an evil wizard to save his mom. His friend finds out about his mom, no worries, he'll keep your secret. Guys, can we all agree to have one conversation with a friend about our feelings before we make rash choices and side with evil wizards??

If you're needing more critical role content with no risk of spoilers, I'd recommend Sam Riegel's absolutely insane ad reads. Theres a million compilations on youtube, here's a random one I've seen - https://youtu.be/I2mtqFZW2B4?si=hDwB3-UxfLdV_e3E Even if not for posting as a reaction its definitely worth a watch because Sam... well he commits. Its sort of a behind the scenes / blooper reel but live.

You've watched Fjord summon the sword twice before. Once by accident in episode 2, and then again in episode 3 when he ran in to save Jester.

Fjord's sword is pronounced "FAL-shun". Sam didn't deal with cancer until about 3/4 of the way through campaign 3, about 6 years after campaign 2 started. He just picked Nott's voice because it was funny. And if you want to watch more Critical Role, there are several one-shot games that they've done over the years that don't have any connection to the campaigns. In particular, with the Christmas season coming up, they have two one-shot specials related to Christmas. "The Night Before Critmas" and "Critical Role Presents: A Daggerheart Critmas Story Live Show" are both Christmas based stories. (Notice though that they are called "crit" not "christ" - that's based on when they would receive presents from fans which they would save up to open in a live stream that they called Critmas.) There are many many other specials that they've done that aren't connected to their main campaigns. Two really fun ones are "Critical Role EXTRA – Liam's Quest!" and "Liam's Quest: Full Circle". Liam is the DM, and everyone else plays as themselves. The last one in particular is really heartwarming.

I think the good faith reading from what the show's provided us to far is Essek expected that he could shuffle the beacon out of the Dynasty to be studied alongside Ikithon, and the Bright Queen wouldn't jumpstart a war out of fear that their soldiers would be lost without a chance of consecution, at least not for a while, long enough for him to study it and cure Typhros. Instead, the Dynasty is jumping into a war, and Trent's going back on the study/research plans, focusing on weaponization rather than determining how it works. He almost certainly feels like a hell of a fool, rashly causing a massive diplomatic incident instead of just...talking to a trusted friend and trying a different way.

Molly is a custom class (class meaning like how wizard or cleric or barbarian are classes) that Matt Mercer created called a Blood Hunter, and yes they use their blood to activate their powers.

Funnylilgalreacts, funnylilgothreacts, funnylilgoblinreacts - so many possibilities. This episode was honestly heartbreaking, as we see glimpses into the trauma of all the M9 save Jester - for her, we see her realise that the world is not like her romantic novels. They are definitely going for a darker tone than the original campaign, as both Gustav and Toya survived in-game.

Honestly not surprised to hear you have trouble with the name of Travis’ character - Fjord’s name is Tough.
