Sang Steppenwolf

YOU TELL HIM RAZIOL! THAT WAS COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED! Imma get my angst fix, I'm so ready for this

Fritz

“How are you here?” THE POWER OF LOVE??? The only true answer

Alyssa

Ahhhh finally picking up their previous conversation! Time to learn more about each other and I’m here for it!!

Brooke

Oh wait, that’s right. He never actually told him he’s immortal. That would make this realization a LOT more shocking for Raziol. 😳

Ty Waldrop

Smart diversion there, KaiJu! You know we're hungering for some Raziol answers! This reunion has been spectacular so far!

Alina B.

Omggg, I knew it. Raziol did believe Sulvain had eventually died of old age. It was probably the same for Sulvain.

Iselin

ah, miscommunication moment 💔 you are the same and not ..

Missiek43

Oh my God this whole time Raziol was thinking that Sulvain had died?!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭

Nekochan

I LIVE FOR RAZ’S LITTLE TEEFS

Eibhlin Brennan

Bro. He had GOLD blood and said he'd see you again. Nothing about that didnt clue you in????? Oh my poor sweet idiot children. So smart and yet so VERY dumb.

Fierth

For one second I thought Sulvain is asking "how are you" and was reaaally confused to why that's all he has to ask him after hundreds of years 🤣

shy

YAYYY THEYRE TALKINGGG YAAYYYYY

Sas (Milo's studio insulation funds)

😭 AAAA The moment of akward silence. The akward "Raziol how are you there" because sorry Sul, same, how are YOU there. Raziol's big eyes on 3rd panel. The mutal sadness of "I thought you were dead" Baby starkitty I'm not sure if there is anything to prepare you what you'll learn about Sulvain but I'm not exactly sure if I am ready for this angst and I have more clues 💔💔 (I love Raziol so much and ok it's hard moment for him but every little familiar expression on his face brings me so much joy after this coolness and smugness and flirtness! It is like seeing an (very) old friend) Aaaaa aaaaAaaaa -this gif of black and white cat screaming and shaking-

S Mcnamara
>>166389134

Exactly! That silence when they’re like where on earth do I start asking you and telling you about hundreds of years of life story ???? oh it HURTS 🥺😭

Iselin

the wind rustles through the trees and their position on the bench breaks my heart a bit,soo nostalgic.

homebody_adventurer

They’re so awkward and vulnerable and I just need to hug them

lil guy

The orange and blue stars above them... how dare you

Lee

Oh yeah get into the juicy lore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The silence was deafening I just know

Lee

Oh raz is in for a surprise when he sees that sulvain is not like him, HE is like SULVAIN

Laura

Raz still knows sign language after all this time! <3

egr

OH okay wow I am perhaps a fool but I did not realize that Raziol didn't know Sulvain was a) functionally immortal and b) already mad old. This is going to be so interesting I gotta get my popcorn

Brannen

Well. In 300 years Raz never forgot how to understand sign language . And this is a surprise. Okay. So Sulvain never fully explained his condition to Raz and how it made him immortal before they parted. But shouldn't Sulvain have known Raz would still be alive since he's a vampire? What is the extent of Sulvain's knowledge on Supernatural creatures? OH!! Maybe that information was in the Great Library, but someone or something burned it down and Sulvain never got a chance to know.

Rowan Jalso

“Sorry I never told you I’m dead and have been for about (1500-1000) years.” 😂 Based on flashback I’m fairly sure Sulvain lived in the Middle ages but idk if it was Early or High. I don’t think it was Late Middle; that era was knocking on the Renaissance’s door and he seemed fairly old already when the story started (100-ish years into the Renaissance).

Ares

I’ve been waiting for this all WEEK!

Juliette Wade

YES! This is the only thing that makes any sense because if either one of them had known for certain that the other was immortal, they could have actively looked for each other and it would never have taken this long. Well done, KaiJu! And well done for getting it out there first thing. Biggest barrier, downed first. I love them so much!

Juliette Wade
>>166394063

To be fair, Raziol was living in the world for 300 years and probably had opportunities to learn more sign language rather than just sitting on what he already knew.

Juliette Wade
>>166387975

So much this! I literally went back and checked the text to make sure, but they both definitely thought the other one was dead. My heart!!!!!

Juliette Wade

I have a question, KaiJu. My sense is that in the Novae world, you've completely rewritten the origin story for any vampire-like creature (I base this on Luc's speech). So, much as it is like our world, there still wouldn't be any other vampires or recognizable vampire lore (unless they had been created after Raziol), because Luc seemed to believe that the bite had never realized the hopes the Scisorium had for it. Is that correct?

saltandcookies
>>166387503

I wonder if Raziol believed/feared Sulvain died shortly after they parted ways when he couldn’t find him. The last time they saw and recognized each other, Sulvain had been impaled through the chest and was losing tons of “blood.” It wasn’t exactly the type of thing you just walk off. 😅 He must have been so distraught… 😔

saltandcookies
>>166399889

I think there might be others, if they have particularly strong ligelumes like Raziol did. His mother went out of her way to strengthen his, which kept them from breaking completely when he changed (from what we saw.) If there’s someone else out there with similarly strong ligelumes—AND they happen to be bitten by miss kitty—they might become a vampire too. But if there are others, it’s probably extremely rare. Raziol’s mother was only able to strengthen them with help from a being that seems to be a god. I’m hoping wherever the kitty is, she’s free now and living her best life. 🥲

Madeleine Andersen

Oh I’m so glad they’re pointing this out. I was surprised that two immortals would take that long to find each other, but it all makes sense if neither knew the other was still alive. They’re both the only one of their kind (as far as we know) so there was no way to find out. Wow!

saltandcookies
>>166394210

I can’t wait to see how that conversation goes. 😆 The armor we saw him in is a style that was used around the 1100s. So probably early crusades. But who knows if he was still alive then, or if he was already undead and he’s even older?

saltandcookies
>>166404730

Right? 😭 This is probably why they second-guessed their encounter at the masquerade ball and didn’t recognize each other. They were all but certain the other was dead. 😔💔

Missiek43
>>166389134

I feel the same exact way, Sas!!! I have missed Raziol so much. Seeing him now with Sulvain is healing something in me. I'm bracing for the angst, but I feel like they will be able to forgive each other eventually. 🥺❤️

Fond Phantom

oh my god the heavy silence in that first panel. yes. YES. let them sit in this realization. let them sit in all that was left unsaid.

Nekochan
>>166394210

dude is ANCIENT and still looks THIS PRETTY Sulvain I love you so much ❤️

Juliette Wade
>>166399889

I have the same hopes for kitty, tbh. They were awful to her. And I agree there might be others... except I don't know if kitty would go around biting people for funsies once she's free.

Juliette Wade
>>166394210

Agreed. It's impossible to know just from his appearance in the flashback. He didn't look younger than he does now.

Atlanas E. Kildarin

“How are you here?” “How am I here?!” How are *you* here?!” It reminds me of the Spider Man pointing at Spider Man meme. 😁 But yes, neither of them knew. Raziol spoke at the ball about the two of them growing old, showing he had no clue, and Sulvain was thinking about how he’d keep living and looking the same while Raziol aged.

Atlanas E. Kildarin
>>166394063

what’s exciting is that this isn’t the same vampire curse we’re all used to in fiction, so it doesn’t work the same way as a normal vampire condition. 😁 There was no reason for Sulvain to 100% believe Raziol would survive because no one had before. Everyone else died. Neither of them knew about how Raziol’s mother strengthened his life before he was born. Sulvain was also not part of the necromancer faction that studied Kitty, the creature that killed all those astronomers and bit Raziol, so Sulvain might not know much about it.

Juliette Wade
>>166418559

Yes. And that was the reason Sulvain asked if Raziol would travel with him, because he wanted to stay together and was afraid of drawing dangerous attention if their age disparity got noticed.

Sas (Milo's studio insulation funds)

I want to share with you all that me and Iselin are hyping ourselves into crazy Novae researches. Right now I'm watching YouTube videos about Indian fashion to figure out more or less which century Udaya was living. I will have to start a doc with all our discoveries shfjdjcf

saltandcookies
>>166399889

That’s a good point! Luc seemed to have her trained to bite on command. 😞 I wonder what she eats though if she’s free. Would she need to drink blood? Or did she possibly go home, wherever home is? 🥹🤞 She did get a taste of Lethe when she bit Sulvain, which made her remember *something.* I guess only time will tell what that something is.

Juliette Wade
>>166399889

All I'll say about that is we have seen some unusual lights in the sky... so I have suspicions.

saltandcookies
>>166429810

Oooo! I want to hear all about it!! 🥹✨ I have some theories on the origin of Sulvain’s cloak I’ve been working on.

Sas (Milo's studio insulation funds)
>>166429810

For now my wild guess is somewhere between late 1400s and super early 1600s I'm trying to narrow it down or debunk depends on informations I will find. From my current understanding before and partly in 1400s it was common for women to wear garments showing breast (imagine Sulvain seeing all of this sjdjdjfj) (also KaiJu - I am having fun you don't have to tell me if I'm right or not)

saltandcookies
>>166429810

If we consider how old Sulvain already was by the 1600s, that already narrows it down a lot! I’ve suspected he met Udaya after the crusades. Of course, who knows how long he fought in the crusades? From the flashback we see of him in 1100s armor, it seems like he was at least involved at the start of it. I’m not sure how long he stayed involved after that.

Hedgehoggoulash

“I’m sorry I never told you” tbf there weren’t a ton of opportunities after that one lovely evening they spent together 😅 things kind of uh… escalated after that

Atlanas E. Kildarin
>>166434674

They were distracted. 😆 Plus, Sulvain was nervous, but I love thinking it’s because they were distracted. More important things came up! 😂

Sas (Milo's studio insulation funds)

I just ...speed runned you a patron... She just started reading today.. and just now wrote me she joined too 🤣 (hi Saff whenever you will see it 💕)

Rowan Jalso
>>166394210

I was basing my guess off the clothes in the flashbacks we get: the mini comic of his family, when he is shown in armor (idk what chapter, early?), the flashbacks of his (what I assume is) execution in chapters 11 and 14.

Brooke
>>166388435

“So, uh… Nice weather we’ve been having, am I right?” 😂 I love that! Anything to get that convo going, lol.

seriesxiii

"I know I'M undead but how are YOU undead?!"

Kaiotee

Awww, they're both so shocked to be able to see each other again💜

I HATE THE NEW PATREON UI

Random thought, if Raziol is immortal rather than undead like Sulvain, would that make him older (as in living longer) since he's actually alive?

Mangsney

Oh, this is definitely pointing Spider-Man meme, but I agree that sweet Raziol has it backwards, Sulvain's been around MUCH longer 😅
