Dave on Dave is an ongoing podcast series in which David Cho and David Chen gather together to discuss life and work. Also, usually David Cho has some harsh words to say about David Chen's stuff!

In this episode, David Chen and David Cho discuss the results of the election. Also: the continuing fall of Twitter.

Great discussion guys. Here’s my two cents when it comes to “right-wing podcasters” vs. “left-wing podcasters” and I think it’s a huge hurdle for Democratic politicians. The biggest difference is that the most popular right wing podcasters believe their presidents are never wrong. Their shit doesn’t stink and they always heap massive praise and tell their audiences what they want to hear. Left wing podcasters aren’t afraid to criticize their presidents whether it be Clinton, Biden or even Obama. Sure they prefer them over a Republican but they are never immune to criticism, which affects voter turnout. Sam Seder and The Young Turks are examples I think.

There’s quite a bit of daylight between me and the hosts of Pod Save, but I do listen regularly and agree with David Cho that they’ve generally been pretty reasonable through this election cycle. With that said, I feel like everyone they’ve *interviewed* since the election has been deeply embarrassing. I took some flak for criticizing Ezra Klein’s appearance last week, but I think he sounded like an alien talking about a country that has nothing to do with the US. And yesterday’s episode, which Cho mentioned, was brutal to listen to. Everything from the defensive posture (refusal to admit that this is not 2012) to their specific language (they kept using “Transgender” as a noun, like “Most people have no problem with transgender”) made them sound a hundred years old. Obviously I’m not the only voting demographic in the US, so my perspective is limited. But it really feels like the people who claim to have a finger on the pulse of the country are wildly out of touch.
