Didn’t expect to get choked up this morning, especially over a Death Cab song. Lots of love to you both. I loved Weapons, probably film of the year for me. I find it fascinating how some viewers are disappointed the director won’t admit it’s about school shootings. It seems to be primarily an American viewpoint? Personally, I prefer that it’s broader than that. I believe it would have limited and damaged the film to be more explicitly about school shootings and I think it’s wise of the director to not let it get boxed in. I found it much more meaningful to walk away from the film thinking about the many, many ways our society and systems fail and harm our children and the price we'll all pay for that rather than one specific issue. It was like a great song in that respect, with enough contrasting themes and imagery to evoke something different in each viewer/listener depending on their personal experiences.

I saw Transatlanticisn/Give up at the Hollywood bowl in LA and it was life affirming. I so wish I could have seen Plans too but they didn't come to California this time. so jealous!

I’ve decided to never do a podcast title with a pun as a title because every time you say the name you have to spell out the name too and that gets tiresome after awhile

Mathew

I really love hearing about the dynamic you two share. Lovely episode. Thank you both.

I'm getting married in October and will be walking down the aisle to "I Will Follow You Into the Dark"! Such a beautiful song. I've never seen Death Cab live but would love to.

Regarding Weapons, with death of the author in mind, I think I land on a message closer to Eddington. This force has entered the community and is just taking over it, transforming people’s loved ones into unrecognizable zombies and monsters. What happens here is the subtlety of the transformation is removed and the end result is exaggerated, but there is a version of this that’s happening in society. And, by the way, once you transform a group of people into these weapons, they can absolutely be turned on you.

Joy is right that OK Computer is a good choice for a play through show … I didn’t see Radiohead so it, but I saw the Section Quartet do it at Largo here in Los Angeles many years ago. That was a great show.

For Dave's sinus issue, have you guys considered it might be a symptom of leaky gut/unbalanced gut microbiome? I'm not a doctor but I've had an acquaintance who cured his sinus inflammation by fixing their diet. Here's related research: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10521374/ Just wanted to offer my two cents, ignore it if it doesn't apply.
