Happy Tuesday everyone. It's great to see so many new faces join us this month.

This last tutorial for the townhouse project takes quite a leap from where we finished last week and that is because it is a true watercolour challenge: in this video I teach you one or two new things and then leave the rest up to you because you have learnt all of these skills in the cottage painting and tree painting projects! I am really keen for you to make this your own, not just to copy my finished piece.

If this is your first watercolour challenge then you will definitely need to go back through the previous challenges to get yourself up to speed and see how this all works. All the while you can access all the tutorials on my youtube channel if you would like to go through some watercolour for beginners basics or brush up on other skills.

This is a private youtube link which only you sweet pea and cherry blossom patrons have access to.

You will need

Your work in progress piece

A range of paintbrushes

Colours I used:

Tree: Burnt Sienna, French Ultramarine Blue, Mars Black, Permanent Rose, Alizarin Crimson

Shadows: Burnt Sienna, French Ultramarine

Railings: Mars Black

Jar of water

Kitchen roll to blot the brush

Eraser

After watching the video...

Go for it! And don't forget to enjoy yourself!

Once the piece is 100% dry and finished, lightly rub out any visible pencil.

Share your finished pieces on instagram using #dwpcchallenge and tag me @dewintonpaperco. And please do have a look at everyone else's interpretations of the brief (search the hashtag and you will see all the patreon insta posts from everyone in here) and celebrate each other's work. We learn from seeing how others interpret a single brief so a community encourages progres

Comment below with your findings, and if you are sharing your work on Instagram, use the #dwpcchallenge and tag me @dewintonpaperco.

Have a wonderful week.

I loved painting this one so much! I appreciate you leaving us parts to do by ourselves, as a perfectionist I find it very scary and my progress really slows down, but that is how we learn to paint for ourselves so thank you for getting me our of my comfort zone. (I'm also so happy you taught us the sandstone technique, I've recently moved to Bath and now I want to paint every house on my street!).

It's really a challenge to let us to finish this townhouse, I really appreciate your way to teach us. Thank you very much, you are really very educational.
