Time to paint some birds! If you haven't already seen my latest instagram story 'Birds' highlight go and check it out to see the kind of birds we will eventually be painting. Today we start simply, with big bright brush strokes and forming the basic shape of the bird. Enjoy!

Welcome to all our new Patrons, I hope you're finding your way around my Patreon ok. Don't forget, you can always send me a message if you have any specific questions. Discord is by far the best place for comments and tips on any paintings you've done as a result of the watercolour challenges as you can post your pictures and see how each other are getting on.

If you are new to painting then I highly recommend going back to the first watercolour challenges and working through the first through to get your basic techniques going. Then you can pick and choose whatever you like!

This is a private youtube link which only you sweet pea and cherry blossom patrons have access to.

You will need

a few sheets of watercolour paper

brushes on the larger side 4,6,8

your regular watercolour kit, colours I used: Cadmium Yellow, Sap Green, Permanent Rose, French Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin Crimson but play around and experiment

After watching the video...

Fill a page with bird drawings and then have some fine painting them in with a large brush

I am so excited to see your paintings! Have a wonderful week. Dont forget to share your pieces on Instagram and Discord!

What a gorgeous little project! Where do I find the attached references of the Chinoiserie birds of paradise?

Hi Quyền, this is in reference to the Instagram story saved highlight which you can have a look at on instagram called 'Ptrn: Birds' but you don't really need any references for this first one!
