Finally, a chance to go on about Richard Nixon, human caricature, avatar of everything wicked in the dubiously-extant "soul" of white suburban America, a man you wouldn't find credible in a satire but had to endure as a (more or less) living being.

Oh yeah, and the pretext: I don't particularly believe the official story about Watergate, and I don't think you should, either.

Any thoughts on how your narrative about Nixon going down for watergate instead of something more malicious parallels with the current trump bullshit?

Half Libyan half white american. I have been to two of my aunts houses that were bombed under Hilary. I refused to vote for her and the level of anger i got saying I wouldn't vote for a psycho who bombed my father's families houses. I know people who acted like i was directly responsible for trump. Im guessing that is going to happen again since i willl not vote for genocide joe, genocide joe who berated anita hill, who pushed black targeted policy in the 90's, who made student loans unqualifiable for bankruptcy, who was the main dem that pushed going into Iraq, and now is earmarking $13BILL for a genocide.

Aside from Mark Felt being a piece of shit, there is the question of whether "Deep Throat" was just made up. Woodward came from Naval Intelligence and had a brief stint at a local paper before landing a plum job at the CIA-connected Post, and it wasn't long before he, along with Bernstein, happened to become the rock star reporters of the century. I think Woodward was an inside man, and that maybe Bernstein was being played, as you suggest. Certainly the "All the President's Men" story is a pure fairy tale. Maybe Bernstein came to realize that he had been played, which might explain why he wrote a piece for Rolling Stone in the 70s about CIA influence in the news media. Great show! Thanks for your efforts!

The lunacy of Nixon is such that I took a minute to let myself accept that the intro audio wasn't real

Jonathan Schultz

Literally laughed out loud at the bit about the two loaves of Alex Jones brain...pong...Roger Stone. Brilliant episode. Bravo.

Jerry Stahl

Spectacular episode. Though surprised you didn’t mention Big Joe McCarthy was a complete heroin addict - who got his shit supplied to him by none other than Harry Anslinger, the originsk

Jerry Stahl

Pardon the interruption - Harry Anslinger, frothing at the mouth anti-drug crusader. Nice irony, considering Dick N as you say used heroin to go after African-Americans & hippies.

Jerry Stahl

Love that you ripped the lid off of Mark Felt. Just when you think you know the score, Death Around The Corner comes along & rips the lead off the dark, seamy secret truth.

Tyson Settle

I wish this continued to be the opening theme of the show

Conor Fowler

Adore the intro music was so good. More notes soon.
