Arright, lads and lasses, no pomp then: I was gutting it through this one, playing on one leg, as it were, but I really didn't want another health delay.  So: a few matters addressed, the patently absurd matter of "ISIS #2 commander" Quraishi, and the beginnings of a critique that will pit authentic connection to childhood against mere nostalgia in part 2 of the "Nóstos Prosthésis" series.

Great EP. You strike me as a very sweet man MSJ, you be nice to yourself. Cynical and hateful my friggin ass.

John Waaben

It’s not White Willows-Kansas Regrets because I looked up the music video and it’s an old ass man in it

The thing I think is really interesting about the Al-Qurayshi killing is seeing a new propaganda narrative take shape before our eyes: the "auto-massacre". Instead of denying or concealing the deaths when they cull their Jihadi veal pens (Al-Baghdadi, Bin Laden), having already achieved total information control in the timeframe that matters, they just say that those families pumped themselves full of shrapnel.

Sparked a joint as soon as the music hit. God damn. I am no longer me.

Because of your prior references to that city, I searched for "bands from Denton, TX" but ignored the issue of a plausible timeframe. You were, therefore, the subject of the song and video for Deep Blue Something's "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Case closed.

8BitThunder

Duane Hoovler? Fairyland!? Anyone know the reference?

What is Bad Trip by Secret Cities

Felipe Moacyr

If someone finds the music video lmk lol

Jacob Kotler

Very excited for your commentary on childhood. Makes me think of Alex G whose music includes a lot of lullaby-like melodies and childish, high-pitched backing vocals in the mix. A moving way to capture millennial anxiety imo.

Jake Rogers

architects of flesh density slaps and so does the piece you included here

John Hardy

Fantastic track, Michael J. Relentless, incredible.

Night Zoo

mildly frustrated that there are Nerve tracks just sitting on a hard drive that I’ve never heard.

Volt_wizard

I hear some Allan holdsworth in that solo, incredible.

Keenan

Pear Is A Patsy

Maybe Bandcamp would let you self publish the music, but i’m not sure that’ll work if someone else has the rights

Panic

Here's my stab at our boy's former band, Secret Cities, and the video featuring an ersatz MJ: https://vimeo.com/96749067. I'm aware no reward was ever proffered for successfully sleuthing this out, but I would sure love it if Mike would talk more about Stan Brakhage. I even think there are a lot of rich congruences between Brakhage elevating "home movies" to a cinematic poetics of the Oikos and D/C's current delve into nostalgia.
