Tarence Ray from Trillbillies has been reading this book called Discounting the Future, which covers financial discounting (especially as it relates to extractive industry and financial instruments). It seemed like a book that relates a lot to what you’ve talked about here and more recently, thought I’d pass it on as a recommendation. They talk about in the episode below. https://open.spotify.com/episode/60BNWCQvMh1WvIwq7Rq929?si=472p-gQ2R2WAX8l40VF90w&context=spotify%3Ashow%3A2xXD1Sp3j2sLGuWlUHcGZd&t=4398

Man I'm so sorry 😥

Hey man can you cover the Halo Infinite controversy? Fans are demanding more from 343 Industries. Master chief didn’t even have a face reveal in the latest installation. Biden won’t even talk about it on the news 😥😥😥

Byron’s Glowing Filament

Wishing you the best man. This episode was killer. Has me thinking of GR in a new light. Stay well. Your voice is causing more change than I think you could imagine.

The experimental/sacrificial subject has to be elevated from the general population before being tortured to destruction to consecrate the act, to give the destruction meaning.

'To the moon', as they say, the cold dead moon. The zeros are piling up, and the surface of the earth will be indivisible

even more haunting without the ending song. great episode. we're all hoping and praying for your campaign against the government, michael. <3

Great episode, felt dense with the informational potency of a full hour despite being half. Like I've said before, I'll say again: my 5$ a month is more than worth it just st to keep you breathing, even if you never post anything. Though I understand the desire to produce running against the death drive as I've danced that dance before. The value of your insight is incomparable.

Samantha Geovjian Clarke

this episode was startling in its brilliance and sharpness. it will never cease to amaze me how you do this work through the pain and stress you deal with every day. you are an absolutely invaluable embodied mind <3

Zach

Great episode as always. I appreciate you putting out episodes despite the many serious medical and mental crises you are dealing with, but I'll echo everyone else and say that I'm happy to pay $5 a month regardless of whether or not you post any episodes. The topic of the abstraction of war reminded me of this lecture by Daniele Ganser that Housetrotter posted a while ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOuGpnORiwk When the illegality of and the likely motivations behind our country's wars are put in such starkly simple terms, it becomes even clearer how sickening and stupid the rationalizations our government and media offer are. Yet, even today, I doubt that the opinion that the Vietnam War was illegal (much less the Iraq War) would go unopposed. Thanks for expanding my worldview, and I hope you'll be successful in heading off this crisis <3

Commissar Mindset

There was a comment here. I took it down because I felt it was likely to be taken as far too invasive or made in poor taste. Sorry.

Brilliant commentary on GR within the larger framework of our reality. You're the only one I know who, while discussing this novel, can see the forest for the trees. I hope you get the support you need (as alluded to in the intro). Fingers crossed the next six weeks goes by smoothly

Cole

I hope you get what you need and feel better soon, man. I haven't read GR but, partially inspired by your thoughts on Pynchon, I started reading Vineland and am loving it. I think I'll do Lot 49 and/or IV next, then dive into GR. Looking forward to listening to past episodes about it.

Thank you, as always, for your acute analysis. This episode is excellently timed for me as I embarked on a deep re-read of GR a couple weeks ago (been 13 years since the first read). I'm consulting Weisenburger's Companion guide as well as the Pynchon Wiki as I go along. Letting your GR episodes marinate my brain the last couple years has been integral in providing a different framework with which to approach the novel this time around. Wishing you the best of outcomes in getting the help you need right now.
