He's come to a place of acceptance and peace with his own taboo lifestyle. But he's the first to give the "don't do drugs" speech to kids, where "drugs" are "The old, pre-civilization cycle of endless and indiscriminate range-hunting migrations."

I love the baxxids so much. These funky guys just need a pat on the head

John C Butler

Good stuff here, Val. Love the characterization and dialogue.

And so it was that Young Kalgkur learned that not only were drugs wrong and scary, but you could smoke drugs for a living, and it could be fun and satisfying to do so.

If I were in that caravan, I might be like, "Ooh, cool! A baxxid with serrated claws. If you do kill something, maybe you could bring it back to show the rest of us!" And they might find the idea distasteful and say I should not grow accustomed to such sights. And I'd be all, "Awwww."

valsalia

They need to lean down a bit or they're hard to reach for pats

valsalia

But what about their highly detailed facial expressions!

valsalia

Yeah ya really gotta pitch it a certain way or else drugs might accidentally sound AWESOME

valsalia

He's so shy about us watching him tear something apart with his appendages! :3

Their exchange is a true definition of Bushido. It’s not about killing and fighting. It’s about doing what is needed because it is needed…..and it’s okay to enjoy doing a good job.

D'AWWWW! :D But is there a typo or some subtlety of Bxxid culture at work - in panel 3 Kalgkur is addressed as "young one", however in panel 6 Kalgkur addresses the other as "young one". Was he being - I hardly dare suggest it - cheeky?

valsalia

Yup, the primary concern is "is this a benefit to our society"

valsalia

Oh naw that's the same one addressing Kal there!

CompletelyNewguy

Front facing Baxxid! So... very much needed! You actually managed to make it look good! The conversation that follows really gives off "I'm telling you, it's too late for me." vibes.

Varyon

It certainly makes it clear why humans have difficulty figuring out which eyes to look at.

John C Butler

They're as expressive as most middle-aged celebs after plastic surgery and Botox!

Richard Weir

D'ough! I was getting them confused.

Not relevant to this specific post, but I was wondering how Yinglets kiss each other? I imagine their front tooth would get in the way. Is there another gesture that Yinglets can do that is the equivalent of giving their partner a kiss?
