I believe Paul Rudd sold his soul to Satan, because he looks EXACTLY the same in Clueless as he does in 2024!, the man doesn't age!!!! :)

Florian Meier

What a Hit Back in the 90's !!! A really Feel Good Film !!! As If !!! Sam Get Well Soon !!! Another Feel Good Comedy is "Overboard" with Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn

Jen Barnes

Clueless is also a very good retelling of Jane Austen's Emma.

Maybe the movie you saw was "Can't Hardly Wait". Another teen classic of the 90s with Donald Faison. This movie is special for me. When it got out I was just out of school, unemployed, no money alone in a new city, in an appartment with no cable and no internet. But there was the Clueless VHS that I watched often as it was my main entertainment for a whole bread eating month before I found a job.

Paul Rudd has been in our lives for 30 years. He's never been a mega star, but he's always been around. Like Keanu Reeves, once you think his career is going away, he shows up in something that is really popular. Clueless (1995) Romeo + Juliet (1996) Friends (2002) as Phoebe's husband Mike Anchorman (2004) The 40 Year-Old Virgin (2005) Ant Man (2015) Avengers: End Game (2019)

I forget how much silly fun this movie is

lol, I love how Sam thought Breckin Meyer (Travis) was in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, just because when you guys mentioned watching that other Amy Heckerling classic, and how you wondered if it might be the same sort of themes, the first thing I remember thinking to myself was how they were both really products of their time (80's culture and 90's culture) but you did have that one character, Travis, who was like the Spicoli character from Fast Times. Spicoli was played by Sean Penn.

Scott Kerr

Sam, I was watching your reaction throughout this movie because I had a feeling you would love this movie! :) I kept thinking "I know she's gonna love this!" throughout the whole movie.

This was so much fun guys!! A slightly different but also iconic high school movie recommendation: Heathers! And hope you're feeling better Sam! :)

I love the Dad in this Roman a clef for Emma by Jane Austen. “Get out of my chair!” 😄

"The way I feel about the Rolling Stones is the way my kids are gonna feel about Nine Inch Nails. So I really shouldn't torment my mom anymore, huh?" - I love that quote! lol I still have it memorized in my head.

Speaking as the foremost fan of Jane Austen, this movie is the loosest possible adaptation of Emma, but it's a lot of fun.

The male teacher they hooked up with the female teacher is Wallace Shaun, who was Fezzini in The Princess Bride. “Inconceivable!”

Hey, Sam and Dan! Since you watched this, you should watch “Emma” (1996) which this is loosely based off of. It’s a comedy and would be fun to see similarities. I do wish you would watch more comedies once in a while. Too many heavy, dark, violent dramas!

My fav line is "Hey James Bond, in America we drive on the right side of the road"

It took me a little extra time to get to watch this, because I wanted to upgrade my digital copy to the new 4K remaster. Thankfully, digital media's week is Tuesday to Monday, and today the 4K digital went on sale for $10. As others have mentioned, this is a loose adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma, which is about a matchmaker who wants to help others but then goes too far and has to clean up the messes she's made while working out her own romantic interests. There are a handful of other high school/teen movies based on classic literature, but my other favorite (and something I'd love to see on the channel someday) is 10 Things I Hate About You (1999), which is based on William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, and is by the same writers as Legally Blonde. Breckin Meyer, who played Travis, is in many things, including the amusing comedy Rat Race (2001) and the TV show "Franklin and Bash," but he's probably most famous for being Seth Green's buddy, which led to him being a major part of Green's TV show "Robot Chicken." After the movie was a hit, the film was adapted into a surprisingly successful TV show that ran for three seasons. Alicia Silverstone had a deal elsewhere that prevented her from playing Cher, but most of the other cast returned, including Stacey Dash as Dionne, Donald Faison as Murray, Elisa Donovan as Amber, and Twink Caplan as Ms. Geist and Wallace Shawn as Mr. Hall (at least for the first season). Brittany Murphy, Breckin Meyer, and Paul Rudd all made cameos as different characters on the show. Unfortunately, the show has never been released on home video, so there's no way to watch it. As of a couple of months ago, a new "Clueless" TV show is in development that would bring back Alicia Silverstone as Cher. Last but not least, because Dan loves Donald Faison, and you guys enjoyed Breckin Meyer in this, *and* you like Legally Blonde, I'll again make a real dark-horse pitch for Josie and the Pussycats (2001), which features both Donald Faison, Breckin Meyer, and Meyer's future "Robot Chicken" collaborator Seth Green in a key cameo. Both films were produced by the same guy, so when they talk about how "orange is the new pink" in Legally Blonde, that's a reference back to Josie and the Pussycats.
