There's seven books eight films lol there's a bunch of trivia and fun facts I want to say but I'll hold off until y'all get into the later films lol I don't want to accidentally spoil anything lol just enjoy the magic that is Harry Potter both literally and figuretively 😂😁 and I predict Sam is ravenclaw and Daniel yes is a Slytherin lol but in the best way I'll sprinkle this in, remember this not all Slytherins are bad lol

Before I watch the whole reactions, a few (non-spoilery) things meant to either clear up confusion or give context to things that aren't offered in thee movies. The way Lucius treats Dobby isn't something that's called out by most because it is not considered a crime in the Wizarding world. Until Harry freed him at the end, Dobby was a slave, and slaves have no rights. The movies grow progressively more mature and darker as they go on. The actor who played Dumbledore (Richard Harris) was recast in the third film because Richard Harris passed away before the third film was complete. So in the next film, you will see a different Dumbledore. I say this because I've noticed it becomes distracting to some, to the point where it diminishes the ability to focus on the story. Harry Potter keeps having to go back to the Dursleys. The reason for this is never explained in the movies, but it is in the books. I am going to hold off telling you why here though, because it's hard to explain without spoiling things. Therefore, here I'll leave it at, yes, there IS a reason for it. If there are other points of confusion or questions you have during the reaction, that can be answered with out spoiling, I will try to answer them in another comment.

The books definitely get more into the day to day of school and classes. There just isn't time to do much of that in a movie and still tell the story. I think the television show would be able to give a little more of the school element.

Goodness this was so fun to watch with guys. Thank you!! Someone did the math and basically there are only about 100-150 students per grade at Hogwarts. 7 grades total at Hogwarts (6th grade to Senior Year in High School). So somewhere between 700-1000 students total at Hogwarts. In comparison to the total population of Britain (68 million), that's a pretty small percentage of people who are magical. And due to time restrictions this is not in the movies, but House Elves are treated pretty poorly in the wizarding world as only the richest wizards and witches own them. F You Malfoy!

Never seen a Harry Potter movie. I originally thought HP was for kids and young teenagers but it seems the fanbase is made up of adults.

You picked up on most things, but there were some unanswered questions: What was Hagrid holding in his hand when he barged into Dumbledore's office? It was a rooster! The crowing of the rooster is deadly to the basilisk, so Ginny, in her trance, went around and killed all of the roosters in the school. And spiders fear the basilisk because they have 8 eyes that they can't close, so they're in extra risk of dying from the stare. Why did Dumbledore hire Lockhart when it was clear that he was a fraud, you probably wonder? To expose him. Dumbledore knew the wizards Lockhart had charmed and their stories, and wanted to put him in a setting where everyone could see him for what he was, while the students would also get a warning about fame. The Malfoys had nothing to do with Dobby's interactions with Harry; Dobby just wanted to warn Harry because he knew that Lucius was up to something. In fact, just speaking to Harry about it was a defiance of his master, which is why he was punishing himself. House elves were overall treated poorly, but that changed for everyone except Dobby when Harry defeated Voldemort as a baby. As for Voldemort, he's not just the heir of Slytherin because he's pure evil, but also because he's a direct descendant of Slytherin, on his mother's side. As someone else said, there's a new Dumbledore in the next one. Richard Harris passed away and was replaced by Michael Gambon. You just saw him in The Insider as the big boss of the tobacco company. Curious what you make of him, as it's something that gets debated a lot. Can't wait for your reaction to the 3rd one. It is many people's favorite and certainly the one where most people notice a proper shift in the series.

That is such a small number! Hogwarts is so big I guess I imagined more people! Dobby’s storyline was so dark but I’m so happy he’s free now! Loved the sock trick! -Sam

I'm sure someone probably already made you two aware of this by now, but the actor who plays Dumbledore in the first two movies passed away between the 2nd and 3rd films, so a different actor takes the role from the 3rd onward. Most people get on board with the new Dumbledore by the end of the 3rd film, though, as he is fantastic. Also, can't wait to see you guys watch the third film, definitely becomes more adult and ramps up the series in a great way.

There are no bad houses, they all have good and bad traits. Some great characters are Hufflepuffs. Once you finish the whole series, you can do a deep dive.

Ooh lots to unpack here! Interesting about the roosters but that makes complete sense for the spiders! That spider scene was terrifying! The Lockhart hire was very odd! I see the reason, but also seemed very risky. I assumed Dobby’s interactions were because of something he overheard! Definitely a twist that he was the Malfoy’s house elf! I don't want to speak for Dan and Sam, especially after she just responded, but I felt like I had to: Like she said, they've always been honest regarding what they have or haven't seen, and will always make it clear when one of them has seen the movie. I remember they did a YT live last year and someone asked them about Harry Potter. Their responses back then led me to believe that they probably wouldn't do it because they thought it was more on the child-like side. But Sam back then admitted to seeing the first one. Also, if they were lying about not having seen it ( to get big views, I assume), they would've done that at the start when they were building their channel up, not after 5 years. They would've done the same with Marvel, as those are the ones that bring in the views. I've definitely seen some reactions where it's obvious that people have seen the movie before, but that is not the case here. Strange comment.

Awesome reaction! It only gets more interesting from here on. Just FYI, unfortunately the actor Richard Harris who played Dumbledore passed away and was recast for Part 3 by Michael Gambon who I believe did a fantastic job playing Dumbledore as well.

Slytherin is not for evil perse. ITs for people who want power and need to prove themselves. That can easily turn dark and possibly evil but specificly. This was mentioned during the Sorting Hat. He says that to Harry. Not a bad mind...Ravenclaw, Plenty of Courage...Griffindor. I forget what was said for Hufflepuff, i think was something about work ethic that they all have. TBR is a Slytherin for sure. I really think Sam is a Gryffindor. Go to WizardingWorld.com....that the Official Site and take it there. You dont need to go to Universal. FyI- Im a Gryffindor. I was a FireFighter when i was still in HS, A Military Police Officer for a few years, Spent 20 years in the military with 5x Iraq Deployments. I think my bravery is documented enough.

Was amazed how many things you picked up during the film! You are certainly watching with great attention. I am enjoying watching these with you so much and can't wait for the next one. The third movie had a different director, Alphonso Cuaron, who definitely put his mark on the series by a very definite style. He explained and quite rightly, that the kids were now teens and there needed to be attention called to that fact. Over the years I've come to appreciate his vision more. /The films get darker from here on in.

It is hard to believe that anyone has not seen the Harry Potter movies TBH. Dan and Sam seem very genuine, but suspicion is understandable, especially as it's a smart business decision to pretend they've never seen them, as reactions to treasured iconic, blockbuster movies close to people's hearts gains an immense amount of views, and that means more income from popular Youtube video monetization, and more exposure leading to more Patreon subs etc. I'm not saying they're faking it, but there are an awful lot of YT reactors who are doing 'first time' reactions to iconic movies that every man and his dog has seen. I like to believe they actually haven't seen these before. There are some movies and tv shows I avoided because of the hype which put me off. I've never seen 'Breaking bad' which everyone harps on about.

Dobby said that Harry Potter freed him, so he knew the sock really didn't come from Lucius. One wonders how the elf freeing ritual works if everyone involved knows the clothing didn't actually come from the master.

You also get to find out what wand and patronus you would have. Very neat site. You also get to create an avatar for yourself in the site. I myself am in Gryffindor. I am going to guess Ravenclaw for Sam. TBR is very likely Slytherin lol.

Weird, I know many people who've never seen HP. Must an age thing, I was in my 20s when they came out - which isn't the target audience I assume. Based on comments I guess a lot of patrons grew up on HP. Also, I was a bit of a film snob in early 2000s, was already seeing the signs of IP taking over the industry, so probably gave HP a pass on general principle:)

Ok. I just saw something in a video about The Chamber of Secrets. When The Trio are on the staircase that moves them to the 3rd floor. Right above the railing that retracts is a portrait of Anne Boleyn. She is apparently very encouraging to Witches. She is suspected of bewitching Henry. Posted in the regular group chat too as and FYI

This might be a weird "spoiler" in the Hogwarts Legacy game (but not really). When you're out and about, there are groups of butterflies you can follow, which is probably a nod to Ron saying "Follow the spiders? Why can't it be follow the BUTTERFLIES?!" so that's pretty cool If you read the books, they do actually tell you exactly what everyone is saying when parseltongue is spoken. The movie skipped this but the book mentions the page Hermione found on Basilisk, the Phoenix and Basilisk are mortal enemies. Dumbledore also mentioned the Phoenix can carry heavy load so that explains why its able to carry Gilderoy, Ron, Harry, and Ginny at the same time.
