Boy, and my girlfriend complained about her mood swings when she was a teen... THESE are puberty mood swings! I recommended the manga to her and she frikin' loved it, saying stuff like "I can relate". Kuro-tan is a hell of riot. And this series gets me into a "philosophical logistics" sort of mood. I mean, you gotta think about it: what will happen when Kuro-tan and Minami-kun "do the deed"? Plus all the issues with the clothing. She needs the meditation course my girlfriend found. My gal swears it works like a charm to help you with them mood swings, and she literally said "Kuro-tan needs to learn some good meditation... she even has her favorite music to do so". That's another thing: Kuro-tan is a metalhead! Like my gal. You gotta love metalheads. They make things so fun.

I have to admit, shows like this don't happen every season. I watch anime with my wife, and I have to curate what I watch with her, because her tolerance for anime bullshit is much lower than mine. This wasn't on my list of must watch shows going into this absolutely stacked season, but it *was* on the list of "might give it a go, see what happens." Holy shit did I change my mind fast. Ninety seconds. It took a minute and a half to go from "this sounds interesting" to OMG Wifey must see this and I'm now on the hook for merch (she has Komi and Bocchi Nendoroids, among others). Kuroe's character design and animation is fucking flawless. THERE IS A HEART IN HER SPINES OMGWTFBBQ! Her anxieties are perfectly portrayed, her struggles are believable, her coping mechanisms make total sense. I haven't wanted to protect a fictional character this much since Nell a couple seasons back. I can only pray that when someone finally adapts Ogami Tsumiki's Strange Everyday Life, it is half as good as this is.

"What is with all these beautiful shows I'm thinking of right now?" Well, the premise of this show reminded me of Kotoura-san, but less dark. Kotoura-san can read minds and it caused a lot of problems when she was a child and had no filter, so she ended up keeping everyone at arms length. It's good to have an anime talking about self-image trouble, they don't do that often. I like how the handsome guy actually used to be overweight. One of my friends went through that and it's still astonishing to compare his today self with the picture on his ID.
