I try out a lot of the regular attacks I often use in battle through the Energy Manipulation skill, such as throwing quantum lightning around with my scythe, and all of the attacks are significantly stronger than they were before. Not to mention easier to do.

All of the quantum energy I control is more powerful than it used to be. Which is kind of weird. Until I realize that the energy I manipulated before always had small amounts of energy leaking out of my control.

But now? Now everything I control with my Energy Manipulation does exactly what I want without any leakage, making my attacks significantly stronger.

Overall, I’m quite happy with this.

Although some of my increased strength is from my levels. Since I’ve leveled up a lot as of late.

Especially the levels I got from killing the Quantum Balancer.

After checking out my new skill upgrade, I leave the Dimensional Block before heading over to Dimensional Block #108. Only to find a rather shocking surprise when I arrive.

There are banners and fireworks and everything else I’d see in a festival all across the city. With people praising me.

Why are they celebrating me? What’s going on?

When some of the people see me as I teleport down to the city below, a lot of them rush up and begin showering me with praise and thanks. At which point I finally understand what’s going on.

Right.

I forgot about the billions of people I freed from the Quantum Balancer before teleporting them away.

They all were aware of what was happening. That they were controlled by the Quantum Balancer. And that I saved them.

Most likely because the Quantum Balancer was controlling so many people and monsters at once. Unlike when he controlled Dad alone, and Dad didn’t even realize he was being controlled.

It makes sense that they would spread word of what I did, though. Considering that there were billions of them that I saved.

Honestly, it would be a lot more surprising if word didn’t get out with that number of people.

So now I find everyone thanking me and even celebrating me as a hero who saved billions of lives. As a Quantum Being who protects the mortals.

Which is a stark difference to how they used to treat me as someone to fear.

I feel the corners of my lips quirking upwards into a slight smile at the sight.

This feeling isn’t half bad.

I give a light wave to the people as I pass through them. Just heading towards Astrid’s house while taking the time to look at and enjoy the celebration.

Normally I would just ignore them all and go straight to Astrid, but for some reason, I just feel like joining in. At least a little bit.

So I try some of the snacks the people offer me for free, and even play some of the little games they have set up. Games meant for users with high levels that are significantly harder than typical festival games for low level users.

Other than the games and snacks, there are also musicians, a marketplace where people are selling all sorts of items and materials, and all sorts of different forms of entertainment. And everyone lets me join in for free since the celebration is for me and all.

Overall, it’s pretty fun.

At some point, I find Astrid playing a game with Ethan in the middle of it all. One of those games to shoot a rifle at targets, but with the rifle being under some sort of spell.

I smile at the sight of Astrid surprisingly losing the game, making Ethan chuckle. Then Astrid lightly hits him in a playful manner as if upset about Ethan’s laughing at her. A side of her I’m not used to seeing.

Right as I’m about to walk up to her and join them, I notice something.

Huh.

I didn’t think about this, but she’s a devourer too, isn’t she?

Astrid also became a full blooded Devourer when she became an Ascendant. Which is why she feels so much more powerful now than the last time I saw her.

She must have devoured something powerful and taken a skill from it. Possibly more than one enemy at that.

I’m glad she’s doing well.

When Astrid sees me while chatting with Ethan, she rushes right over and pulls me to join her at the game. Clearly wanting me to win it for her.

I roll my eyes before taking the rifle from her hands and studying the thing with Energy Manipulation. At which point I begin to realize how it works.

The rifle is made out of an anti-magic material and mana, making it impossible to affect it or the shot it fires through magic. Meanwhile the targets at the end of the shooting range are moving so quickly most people can’t hit them without magic.

I go ahead and walk up to the range before firing the rifle and guiding it through pure energy manipulation.

Anti-magic only affects mana, after all.

Not energy.

Thanks to that, I easily hit every single target, shocking the booth owner, but not surprising Astrid or Ethan. Then Astrid takes the reward, which is a stuffed animal with some special item effect. A Tier 5 item at that. And the three of us continue past the booth and its shocked owner.

Afterwards, the three of us just enjoy the celebrations for a while. Enjoying the leisure time here as the people celebrate.

It’s a nice feeling. Going around with family and a friend for no other reason than because we can. Without any battles or problems.

Well, excluding the whole Corrupted One thing. Since I’ll have to deal with him at some point. But that’s a problem for the future. What with him being badly injured by his battle with the Universe’s Core and the Quantum Beings making him unable to act right now.

Now is just the time to relax.
