I edited some of Intermission 3 to include more of the Vanguard's thoughts. Just to build up more to this trial.

To my surprise, it doesn’t take long for me to realize that the Quantum Vanguard’s fighting style is very simple. Far simpler than any of the other Quantum Beings.
Unlike the other Quantum Beings, the Quantum Vanguard cannot turn back time on his body to heal. Nor can he speed up his healing in any way.
He doesn’t really have to either. He just fights and tanks hits, since he is far more durable than the other Quantum Beings.
On top of that, the Quantum Vanguard has a special sword he draws only when facing worthy opponents. Whether they be Corruptors or other Quantum Beings.
This sword directly stops any and all attempts to forcefully recover from wounds given by it. Whether that’s through healing magic, time reversal magic, or anything else. Even things like my Quantum Stasis Copy would be stopped.
The only way to recover from the wounds is to let the wounds naturally regenerate.
Of course, if I kill his clone, clear the trial, and gain a resistance to his energy, there’s a high chance this healing blocker will be significantly resisted. Making healing once again possible from any wounds I received during the trial.
But I have to kill his clone first for that.
And that’s sounding like it’ll be a rather difficult feat to accomplish. Especially since the Quantum Vanguard fights solely with his blade.
He does occasionally use quantum energy, but when he has his blade drawn, the thing drains most of the energy generated or handled by him. So most of his remaining attacks involve extended arcs of energy thrown out by his blade swings.
At the end of the day, he’s more of a swordsman than the mage most Quantum Beings would classify as. Which, in and of itself, is unusual.
Based on everything I’ve learned about his fighting style, the Vanguard will likely take a lot less time to fight than the previous Quantum Beings. The Creator and Builder excluded.
All because my fight against the Vanguard won’t be a fight of who can last the longest.
Neither of us will be healing, after all. So it’ll be a one and done fight of trying to kill each other.
Which will kind of be a nice change of pace, if I’m being honest. No slippery tricks or anything of the sort. Just an exchange of blows to the death.
That said, I can already tell it’ll be difficult to win. But still possible.
I have ten tries, after all. And he doesn’t have many tricks.
On a side note, I learn during my questioning that the Vanguard originally planned very strongly to go and kill me after dealing with the Corrupted One. But after he saw my fight against the Enforcer, he changed his mind.
The Vanguard himself is apparently both extremely fickle, and extremely stubborn.
He can change his mind at the drop of a hat and completely reverse his opinion about something, but unless he does that, he’ll be stubborn to a fault no matter what anyone says.
The man also seems rather intelligent, and understands his own strengths. Unlike the Enforcer and Balancer, who were extremely arrogant.
Anyway, I prepare as best I can for the trial. But there’s not all that much I can do.
There aren’t really many if any items that can deal with quantum energy. I can’t use healing items during the battle since healing is out. And I won’t run out of energy since I can’t see the battle taking that long.
On top of that, my own attacks are stronger as the Quantum Reaper than any items made by the System at this point can do.
So I eventually step inside of the mausoleum to begin the trial. At which point I find myself appearing within a corrupted galaxy where the Quantum Vanguard is fighting against the corruption.
And the sight actually brings a question to mind.
For the Quantum Vanguard, are the first and second trials just going to be the exact same…? Watching him fight against the corruption.
Because something tells me that’s going to be the case.
I watch the Quantum Vanguard draw his sword before swiping it horizontally in front of him, sending a massive arc of quantum energy outwards that slices through the corrupted creatures in one go. Then he begins to move faster than the mortal eye can probably track. Even I find it difficult to keep up with his movements with my gaze alone.
Although I manage to do so, nonetheless.
And what I see is him slaughtering the corrupted creatures. Slicing them apart nonstop and turning this corrupted galaxy into one filled with chopped up parts of corrupted creatures.
Which isn’t actually very gory, since none of these creatures really have any blood.
It just looks like a bunch of glitching parts thrown about everywhere.
As for his exact fighting style? He’s just slicing through the corrupted creatures with ease. There isn’t much fighting style involved.
And the few corrupted creatures who do manage to break through and land hits on him don’t deal any damage whatsoever. Their blows just bounce off of his armor, so I can’t imagine his body taking any damage from them.
I watch as the Vanguard suddenly moves at an incredible speed away from the corrupted creatures to swing his sword straight at a Corruptor nearby. The Corruptor tries to block the blow, only to be sent flying before crashing into a glitching planet.
Thus beginning his fight against a Corruptor that seems rather one-sided.
Until another Corruptor joins the fight. And another.
Then another.
Making it a four-on-one fight. And yet, he still dominates them, eventually chopping the Corruptors into little pieces.
Only for him to quickly slaughter the rest of the corrupted creatures in the galaxy before moving onto another galaxy and repeating the process.
All the way until he clears four entire galaxies and the first part of the trial comes to an end.
Bringing me to another very similar scene where he is fighting another Corruptor for the second part of the trial. Albeit a much stronger one.
Yeah, this is going to get repetitive. I can already tell.
