Somewhere on FurtrunaMoments ago

Leonhart Fallo the Eighth feels his hand clenching slightly around the throne room he created inside of his System City. The largest System City in all of Furtruna thus far with a population of two hundred and fifty thousand in it of various different species. The most dominant of them being the elves, like himself.

Ever since the System arrived, he has taken an iron grasp on all those around him. Ruling from above like a god. But even after learning about the far more powerful beings outside of his Galaxy, he didn’t shake from this belief. That he would be a god eventually.

All gods start out as kings, after all.

As rulers of their own people.

And yet, now he feels slightly shaken despite himself. All because of the System Message in his vision.

◊Galaxy-Wide Achievement◊

Void Crowne Aidan Vale has become the first user in the Aqua Galaxy to destroy a System City and its City Lord during an Assault. Therefore, he will receive a special Assault Lord Title, unlock a Legendary System Building of his choosing, and unlock a new Elite Monster for their Galaxy-Wide Achievement.

◊Galaxy-Wide Achievement◊

Along with the next message that appears after it.

◊ The Furtruna System City and City Lord of Tiger Hall have fallen, thus marking the first casualties of the Multiversal War between Gaia and Furturna, and granting the planet of Gaia one point on the Multiversal War Scale. ◊

The humiliation that, not only was he not the first to destroy a System City, but the first one to destroy one was his planet’s enemy. It’s enough that he almost destroys the armrest of the throne that he is sitting on.

But as if that weren’t enough, a new wave of messages appear along with the first.

◊ To celebrate the very first destruction of a System City in the Aqua Galaxy, the World Chat, World Leaderboards, and Galaxy Leaderboards have now all opened. ◊

◊ All users may access the World Chat to find a messaging system meant solely for the users of your planet. Through this messaging system, users may add other users as friends, send private messages to other users, create group chats should they have the necessary items, and send messages to the global world-wide chat where they will be visible to anyone within the region you are in. ◊

◊ All users may now see the World and Galaxy Leaderboards. All those in the top ten of the World Leaderboards will receive a reward from the System every week, while all those in the top one hundred of the Galaxy Leaderboards will receive a greater reward from the System every month. These two Leaderboards rank the users and System Cities on various different aspects, with numerous sub-leaderboards and a single main leaderboard. ◊

◊ Welcome to the System, and to the Multiversal Wars! The universe is glad to have you! ◊

Leonhart stares at the message for a few seconds before looking at the corner of his vision and opening the new menu that appears with a cloud-like bubble on it. One with a small arrow on the bottom corner. And what he sees after opening it makes him clench his fist even tighter, finally destroying his throne.

[This thing is cool.]

[Won’t this make communication between cities a lot easier?]

[Hey! Hey! Hey! Come to River Claw City! There aren’t any monsters here and the City Lord is great!]

[More like it’ll be used for advertisements like that…]

[So does anyone have any updates on the Lion Hall situation? Are the First Ranker’s monsters still running wild, or are the remnants of Tiger Hall at least dealing with them after their city’s destruction?]

[I don’t know.]

[Is it really the First Ranker? Why do we have to be unlucky enough to be at war with his planet of all planets?!]

[Our cluster is just really unlucky…]

[I hope he doesn’t open a dungeon anywhere near me.]

[Maybe I should avoid entering the Multiversal War?]

[Then if we lose, are you willing to take responsibility?]

[Do you really think they would just stop to chat if they’re really still fighting?]

[My city is near Tiger Hall, and I can tell you this much. The remaining tigerkin there are being slaughtered like pigs. The City Lord of my city is already struggling to mount a defense for when the blighted monsters reach us.]

[Damn. I wish you luck.]

[Me? I’m abandoning ship and going through the portal to leave.]

[Wow. Harsh.]

[I’m not the only one. A lot of people in the nearby cities are. These monsters are just too powerful, and their number grows as they spread their blight.]

It doesn’t take long before the newly opened World Chat devolves into talk about the fallen Tiger Hall, and the First Ranker whose monsters destroyed it. And these are just the users in the region near Leonhart. Which, according to a number in the corner of the screen, only includes a couple hundred thousand people.

So all of these people chatting right now, with a lot of their messages moving so fast it’s hard to see, are likely members of his own nation.

His people, fearing another person over himself.

He takes a deep breath before proceeding to look at the Leaderboards. And, fortunately for him, the sight of himself being #1 on the Furtruna World Leaderboards calms him down significantly.

Only for his rage to return at the sight of the Aqua Galaxy Leaderboards, where he isn’t even in the top fifty.

“Immediately send a suppression force to deal with the Void Crowne’s monsters! Now!” Leonhart roars at his assistants in the room. Then he stands up from his throne and grabs his sword while saying, “I’ll lead them personally!”

Somewhere else in the Aqua Galaxy

A quiet clicking sound echoes through the queen’s chambers inside the underground nest that is Xch’tlia’rial System City. Meanwhile the zelbar queen herself just stares blankly at the Galaxy-Wide Achievement made by the Void Crowne, unable to feel anything but shock.

She doesn’t care about the other announcements after that. Not right now.

What she cares about is what was just stolen right out from under her.

Xch’tlia’rial turns her gaze towards the screen next to the Achievement, where she sees her own monsters hunting down the City Lord of the city she was fighting against after having already destroyed its System City Hall. With the countdown after being just half a minute away from completing the System City’s destruction.

How?

This word echoes through her head with no answer in sight.

She was the first to destroy a System Building, and she had already destroyed the System City’s City Hall as well. All she had left was to wait for the remaining half a minute to pass.

And yet, the Void Crowne managed to beat her to it.

How did he destroy the city before my forces when we tore down their wall first?

No matter how hard she thinks about it, she can’t figure it out. And it doesn’t take long before she receives a call from the ancient zelbar Prime serving as her mentor.

“You have lost the lead already, disappointing the Ancient Hive Queen,” the Prime declares the moment the call connects. “Do whatever it takes to claim the top spot on the Aqua Galaxy Leaderboards. Only then will you prove yourself again.”

Without giving her a chance to respond or even get angry, the Prime ends the call.

Then Xch’tlia’rial feels rage engulfing her entire being at this filthy insect treating a queen this way. But that anger only grows worse when she looks at the Aqua Galaxy Leaderboard, not even bothering to check her own cluster’s leaderboard since she will be at the top regardless.
