All Around the Universe

No matter who it is, trillions of people across the universe feel pure tension as they watch Ashley struggling against the Void God. Because it is clear that she is beginning to run low on energy. Which is fatal to anyone, and even more fatal to Ashley.

Even the Primordials don’t take their eyes off of the livestream.

So when Ashley begins to create a large sphere of ice around her made of Eternal Snow, everyone begins to wonder what she’s doing. Since it’s a waste of the little energy she has left.

Until an orange glow begins to spread ever so slowly across the ice.

Exclamations break out across the universe as most of the viewers begin to understand her plan. Meanwhile the Primordial of Time himself nods his head in approval at her strategy.

The orange glow is only around the ice itself, sealing both sides of the ice. It doesn’t affect anything inside of the ice sphere, leaving Ashley herself unaffected. Yet, it completely seals off the outside as the glow spreads across the ice.

When the black fog of the Void God reaches her, and the Void God itself finally gets closer and reaches a range where it can directly attack her, the viewers all feel dumbfounded at the sight of its attacks not doing anything to her at all. All because of the Eternal Snow that is completely frozen in time and acting as a perfect barrier around her.

The higher Class users with a high potential chance of facing Ashley in future Official System Events feel a little threatened by the sight of a perfect barrier against attacks, but the threat they feel isn’t anywhere near as high as it could be. Simply because of the amount of time it took Ashley to set up the barrier.

At the same time, the Primordials all show expressions of relief at the sight of Ashley recovering her energy.

The only one not showing any expression is the Primordial of Void, who continues watching without any change in her expression. As if everything is going as according to her expectations.

Ashley

I let out a sigh of relief when my plan works.

This isn’t a plan that has any real feasibility during an Official System Event, since it takes nearly an entire minute to seal the entire hollow sphere of ice surrounding me. Especially since I have to seal it from the inside with access to only one side of it.

So the only reason I managed to do it now is because the Void God is slow and is attacking from a distance too, giving me the time to do this.

I watch through the orange glowing ice as the Void God approaches closer and closer, but nothing it does manages to even damage the time-frozen ice. Even when it swings its tentacles at me, the tentacles still don’t do any damage.

After watching for a few minutes, only to see the Void God unable to do anything, I let out a sigh of relief. Then I practically collapse, losing all strength in my body. Leaving me floating in the middle of the ice sphere with my eyes fluttering close.

I try to stay awake, but my exhaustion hits me hard, and soon enough, I find myself falling asleep.

Once I wake up again, I am greeted by the sight of the Void God right in front of the sphere of ice. Just staring at me with those disturbing compound eyes.

The thing’s enormous Western draconic hear is just staring at me with all of the eyes within the compound eyes, and it isn’t blinking no matter how long it stares. Meanwhile I can’t help but feel disgusted at the close-up sight of the malformed flesh on top of each and every one of its hundreds of thousands, or even millions of scales across its body.

A sight that is far more disgusting and horrifying up close than from far away.

I can even see the Void God’s tail stump sweeping wildly behind it, with the claws and talons at the end of the stump striking randomly around it.

Has it just been staring at me since I put up the ice barrier? That’s rather creepy.

Also, more importantly, why isn’t the black fog damaging the Void God? It should be damaging it. The black fog coming from the totems.

It doesn’t take long after having that thought before I notice something else.

The totems aren’t connected to me right now, nor are they expelling black fog.

Is it because I’m inside of the time sealed ice? That could be it.

I frown at this realization. Because it means I can’t just hide inside of the ice to let the Void God build up damage from the totems.

Then again, the Void God probably wouldn’t be sitting next to me waiting if it was affected by the totems while I’m in here. It may not be all that intelligent, but it isn’t stupid enough to sit around taking damage endlessly while it’s waiting for an unknown amount of time.

I stare at the Void God’s disturbing eyes for several seconds as it continues to stare back at me without blinking. And it’s obvious that the Unique Monster has no intention of leaving, so I am a little stuck.

Unfortunately, I realize rather quickly that I can’t deal damage through the Chono Lock. Even with Gaze of Destruction.

No doubt because the space on both sides of the time frozen ice is considered entirely different spaces. With the space between them being completely frozen.

When I try to send an attack through the time-frozen space, even if it’s a gaze type True Damage dealing skill, it doesn’t make it through. It just freezes in place within the Chrono Lock.

I’ve tried using Gaze of Destruction through Chrono Lock before in my tests, and it does work. But only if the target is directly frozen by the time freeze.

It doesn’t work in a situation like this, where we’re just on opposite sides of the time lock.

This situation doesn’t have the time lock being considered as a defense for the Gaze of Destruction to pierce through. So it just gets frozen within the Chrono Lock.

Still. It’s not completely hopeless.

Gaze of Destruction itself doesn’t do all that much damage as it is a passive type of damage that damages things over time. And it deals less damage in comparison to a monster this big, since it just has too much matter in its body for Gaze of Destruction to destroy.

But what if the damage is all held back and then launched at once at a single point?

A faint grin begins to stretch across my face at that thought. Because the damaging aura sent out through my eyes at the target is all being locked in time the moment it passes into the time-locked ice. And, if I had to guess, it will all be sent out at once the moment I cancel the Chrono Lock.

This could work.

With that thought in mind, I sit back and have a staring contest with the disgusting eyes in front of me. Just letting the power build up within the Chrono Lock while my energy continues to recover.

Even after my energy fully recovers to peak condition, I continue to let the damage build up.

I need to have a powerful attack hit the Void God to let me build up some distance between us. And to make sure that it doesn’t do some massive mental attack the moment I leave the protection of the Chrono Lock.

So the plan is to continue building up as big an attack as possible to be released the moment I leave the Chono Lock, interrupting whatever attack the Void God might launch at me and giving me the chance to build up some distance between us.

Fortunately, I still have the ice sphere of Eternal Snow as a protection as well. And I also have my energy tank refilled, so I won’t die even if it erases my entire body from existence.

Not until I run out of energy, at least.

With the plan set, I keep waiting all the way until I begin to see hints of crimson and black energy filling the area of frozen time.

It’s almost time.

Cool to see her time magic used for more than freeze tag. Thanks.

Probably within the next couple weeks ish. I don't do as many nowadays due to a mixture of the chapters going down to one a week, and a minority of readers hating on art on Royal Road.
