"animal behavior" hardly! Gon is having as human a reaction as anything the king has experienced; revenge is something all people have to struggle with to overcome. Gon is having a crisis, he doesn't know what to do or how to feel; he has always had someone to either guide him or friends to influence him for the better; now he lost his father's one student, and has to allow Pitou to heal their king's one companion. The theme of this arc, is not entirely humanity versus nature, but far more the worse in humanity versus the better in humanity. Take a look at the vid essay "Why Gon is Not a Monster" from radman.

I like that breakdown of what the theme is and I agree, but by that definition isn't the point shown that Gon represents "the worse in humanity" by his actions at this point? Meanwhile, by caring for Komugi we see the King start to show signs of the the better in humanity--and Gon doesn't care. Yeah it's not "animal" but frighteningly human--the monstrous side of humanity. I'll check out that video you mentioned, though I'd guess it spoils the arc so I hope blind watchers don't check it out just yet lol edit: I just searched for that video title and apparently this is a controversial topic! there are tons of videos that are titled gon is/isn't a monster

The camera footage being off sync throws me so much but I think it's getting slight less off sync the further we get into the reaction maybe.
