Happy Monday!
Thanks for the feedback regarding the mod thing. It is an important feature that needs to be in the game (just like the Palworld example I gave). It's a constant reminder that, hey...you're modding the game and the variables being flipped too early (amongst other things) will likely break things. That said, I'm also going to revamp the intro. My eye condition that impacted a lot of CH1 and some of CH2 and 3's visuals, the keratoconus placard has explained some things and that yes, WHEN I HAVE TIME. Eventually CH1 will be remastered. One for Blender is something to be added too because its a new tool with a steep learning curve and many people have shown some concern why some scenes (usually lewd) look the way they look. And I can't be everywhere at once. With how busy my schedule is as a solo dev, Discord and Patreon is generally my only place to keep you guys informed. I try my best to update places like Steam and (Twitter is another place I need to push myself to get back on). It's just hard to shift focus from work to social. I do appreciate many of you who do point out why this has happened or why that looks like that. These little notices at the start of the game should help people understand or be reminded.
Development continues to go well. Last night I went and checked my liquid cooling loop for the render box. We're now in triple digits where I live and I went to make sure things were well. Some of you might remember when I dropped CH6, my loop barely made it to the finish line and failed to render more renders because I was using distilled water and had algae built up (my own negligence). So after a deep clean, I switched over to the German liquid solution and man...I had completely forgotten to check on it after dropping CH7, but checking it last night. Liquid is still crystal clear. I have it marked on my calendar to flush the system and refill it in December (which was when I got the system back up after maintenance). For those curious, it's Aquacomputer DP Ultra (clear variant) that I'm using.
Writing continues to go well. I'd say the hardest part is, as a solo-dev, refining the ideas. I've got no one to bounce ideas off of or have a discussion about. The Universe Bible has really been doing its job this development cycle. But just wished I had a partner or writing team to help flesh out ideas. But the universe bible has helped sparked ideas, through old notes I've jotted down. Some hit, some don't. I think that's the beauty of this new system I've got. I jot an idea I think was great. When I'm ready to start working scenes (much time has passed since), I'll see it and be like...what was I thinking. Or that was a pretty good idea, but maybe tweaking it a little will be better. It's a struggle because you're essentially arguing with yourself, lol. But I guess that's a good thing. The dialogue and scene flow are something I'm very critical about. Some people in the community are very obsessed with render count per day, but crafting scenes and dialogue is my obsession. And I tend to worry about that than my render count.
Anyways, I'm very happy with how this chapter is churning out. I love being able to tie up a lot of the sub-plots, plant the seeds for the next sub-arc (Book 3) and letting the overall arc continue to crescendo. The swells of what was mentioned in the previous chapters continue to grow. A lot of you are catching on now that we're this deep in the story and that makes me happy as a writer.
enough yappin' from me. back to the basement i go.
Have yourselves a great week and stay cool out there! And stay hydrated!
