Digital Foundry Is Looking For A Junior Producer (Patreon)
Content
In the wake of our move into full independence, Digital Foundry has grown and changed in many respects - some obvious to the audience, others perhaps not so much - but what's clear is that we're going to need more staff.
We're finding that a lot of our time is spent on admin-style tasks: thumbnail production, podcast preparation, social media posting, looking after DF Clips - the list goes on. At the same time, our commercial endeavours have ramped up with some success, creating its own admin - but if we're to improve/increase editorial output while maintaining work/life balance, the team needs better background support.
Today, I'm excited to announce we're looking for a Junior Producer to join the team. Before going into the position in more depth, there are a number of criteria candidates must meet. If you don't meet these criteria, please don't apply. Location is especially crucial as working in a different time zone to the rest of the team will present issues for this position. Here's what we need:
You'll need to be based in the UK or mainland Europe
Good familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro
A good level of written English
Knowledge of Digital Foundry and understanding its content
Good organisational skills
You keep up with the latest gaming and technology news.
Now let's drill down into the various tasks the Junior Producer is expected to carry out.
Create thumbnails for Digital Foundry videos and DF Clips
Schedule DF Clips from supplied uploads while occasionally sourcing more Clips from main content
Create the Patreon posts that give users the video download options
Sort out Patreon early access opportunities
Distribute DF Direct Weekly and DF Retro Super Show across podcasting platforms
Deploy content according to schedule and promote it on social media platforms
Work with the team to piece together the next episode of DF Direct Weekly
Track news stories and verify news reports
Create custom shorter form content for DF Direct Weekly
Sit in on DF Direct taping sessions to understand the show and inform DF Clips set-up
Create and administrate the sponsored integration inserts working with our sales team
Occasionally represent Digital Foundry at press trips/events in the UK
We're looking for the Junior Producer to ease a lot of the administrative burden on the team so we can help improve work/life balance and concentrate on delivering more videos - but we're also interested in finding and mentoring the next generation of DF team members, so while not a must, this position may suit a younger applicant.
How To Apply
While a basic CV or resume has its uses, demonstrating that you meet the criteria laid out above and showing you have the required skills to do the job is much more important to us than your qualifications and employment history. A submission that's just a CV/resume alone doesn't really help that much.
Some ideas here: demonstrate your abilities by showing us how you meet the brief (Photoshop/Premiere work?), maybe come up with some ideas for what you'd do to create a DF Direct story, tell us what you enjoy about gaming and technology. If you've worked in gaming before or you've put together enthusiast content, link us to some of your work so we can get to know you a little better. Those are just a few examples of ways you can make your application stand out.
Send what you have to info@digitalfoundry.org. We look forward to seeing your applications. Please understand if we cannot respond to every applicant.
