Hello, December! 🎅🏻☃️ First, The Fantastic Four reaction is a-comin', so sorry for the delay! It will be shared here tomorrow.

It's holiday movie time! I'm excited to share my reactions to the movies National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989) [KL's Choice], Live Free or Die Hard (2007) [Movie Series Continuation], and Just Friends (2005) [Viewer Request]. 🎄🎁

This will be my first National Lampoon movie, but I've been told that I can watch them in any order. This week's viewer request came through my Reactr page from YouTube viewer, Aaron - thank you so much! The fourth Die Hard movie was the winner of my 3rd and 4th Edition poll. Thank you to everyone who voted!

There will be no holiday movie polls this year, as I have curated my own list that I will be watching and sharing (a mix of ones I wanted to watch last year, plus some new additions). I had also received two Reactr requests for holiday movies and the second one will be shared closer to Christmas.

I am also looking forward to sharing the end of my Band of Brothers journey with the unofficial 11th episode - the We Stand Alone Together: The Men of Easy Company (2001) documentary. I keep getting the title mixed up in my head and thinking it's called "We All Stand Together", so my apologies if I ever said that before. I will also be sharing bonus reactions to the rest of the videos in The Operations Room - Band of Brothers Playlist.

I'm a little sad that this is just about over, but I have noted The Pacific as another war mini-series to react to in the future. I'm aware that many people think it's more brutal than BoB, so I'll need some separation between the two. At this time, I can't say when I'll react to it.

And finally, I'll be continuing through Season 5 of the series, Stranger Things (Chapter Two: The Vanishing of...) and the series, Agents of SHIELD (Episode 15: Rise and Shine + Episode 16: Inside Voices).

📢 Update: Reactr Pricing for 2026

With the release of IMDb integration a few weeks ago, I am updating my pricing for 2026 so that I can set it based on runtime. This will take effect on Jan 1.

Let me explain the new pricing, as it was important to me that I wasn't increasing it overall. My new prices meet my current prices at the two-hour runtime, and it goes up and down from there. If you request a 160 min movie and then send in a 90 min movie next, you'll pay the exact same for both movies with the new pricing as you would right now with the current. This new structure has more flexibility, is more fair, and perhaps becomes more affordable for some people that have a certain movie in mind to request.

You'll see that paid Patreon members continue to get $15 off with their requests like they do right now, and that gets bumped up to $20 for the longest movies.

Requests for movies that are 2.5h+ are in a separate offering for two reasons:

The $/min structure resulted in longer movies having prices that I felt was too much. Since the vast majority of requests will be in the first offering anyway, it made sense to stick with a flat rate for the longer movies.

Longer movies take up more time and energy in every single step of the process, so I would like to be able to control intake on these. With the new offerings, I'm able to either pause them entirely or implement a limit, such as 1 request at a time.

If you have a movie between 2h - 2h30m in mind, definitely take advantage of the current pricing and get a request in before Dec 31. Just please remember to not send in multiple requests as I still have the one-at-a-time rule in place. Please comment below if you have any questions about these changes!

I'll close out this update post by saying TIS THE SEASON for snowfall, decaf mochas (I've been drinking lots of these lately), more dark than light outside, and warm slippers! I need to swap out the pumpkins that are on my side table in the recording corner with something that's a bit more appropriate - perhaps a little snowman or something Christmas-y.

Have you done any Christmas decorating yet? I can't decide if I want to bother doing that this year in my own home as I'll be in Guest mode over the holidays, not Host mode. 😅

Have a great week! 🥰

Darn...next time, Alien³. Next time.

Patrick

I hate that someone told u the order of the vacation movies doesn't matter. By skipping the original it completely diminishes the "reveal" of Eddie in Christmas vacation.

Movies with KL

It wasn't just one person who told me this, and I also double checked online that it wasn't necessary to watch them in order. 🤷🏻

Miles is Editing

I was rooting for Alien 3 aswell. So underrated 😭

Vincent Hollow

Honestly, its been over 30 years. It's time for people to give it the love and appreciation it deserves.

Miles is Editing

Agree! I think once the special edition fixed it people liked it a bit more and newer generations/fans definitely appreciate it much more these days

Vincent Hollow

I'm one of those weirdos that loved the original theatrical cut the first time I saw it. Sure, I totally understood the main reason why people hated it, but again, if ya'll are still furious about that decision 30 years later, I dunno, go take a hot bath with rose petals and incense and maybe chill out.

Patrick

The joy and accomplishment that Clark feels when he gets the lights finally working, makes Eddie's sudden appearance SO MUCH funnier if u already had been introduced to his character in the original vacation movie.

Miles is Editing

It's not that deep tbh. And now you are spoiling whole other scenes just to get a point across. What about "the joy of KL reacting to Clark seeing he gets the lights to work" instead of "the joy of KL realizing that she was already told about this". You don't need the other movies just for one tiny payoff. Please stop spoiling even more, I would like to see a blind reaction to the movie and not one where she already heard about half the movie

Patrick

She already watched it, I didn't spoil anything. Found one of the ones that lessened her experience though I guess...

Miles is Editing

Where does it say she watched it? This is about whats upcoming

Patrick

Ur an editor, u should know anything posted for release in the same week has already been watched

Patrick, unfortunately you have a misunderstanding of how I operate my Patreon page. While there are many reactors who are able to record lots of reactions ahead of time, that isn't all of us! Most of what I share is coming next in these weekly schedules have not yet been recorded. Cassie from Popcorn in Bed is the same as me - when she shares what is coming next, she hasn't recorded the reactions yet. Every once in a while, there will be a movie or two in the Patreon schedule that I was able to record ahead of time, but that's not always the case every week. The only time that I was able to share multiple weeks of pre-recorded reactions was during this past September. That was a huge exception to my normal routine since I was out of the country, so I was forced to have everything done ahead of time. You tell Miles that he should "know" and he does! He knows that I haven't recorded this reaction yet, which is why he told you that. I don't know why you are trying to tell him that he was wrong. Please let me know if you have any questions. And for the future, it is best practice to save these types of comments for the reaction post for that movie, that way you know for sure that you aren't unintentionally spoiling me. 😊

Patrick

My mistake then, my apologies to Miles and yourself.

I'm not mad about it (I didn't see any Alien movies until at least 2004, when the Quadrilogy DVD came out, and the Assembly Cut premiered). However, my main problem with the theatrical cut of Alien³ is that some sections are so chopped down that they become outright incoherent. Obviously, she hasn't seen it yet, but there is the character of Golic, who does something in the TC that makes no sense because they've edited out all of the context leading up to that moment. For me, that's the reason I prefer the SE. Of course, I do think it's important to keep in mind that the SE is technically not a finished film. Had Fincher stayed on the project, no question the SE would've been further refined. Still, at least it's coherent.

Tyler Foster

I don't think it *matters*, but FWIW what people were really saying is that the Vacation movies are sort of self-contained. They're a little bit like a sitcom, where it's kind like each episode resets things to status quo to some degree. Still, there is continuity across the series that plays out in the order they were made. In general, I would say it's worth proceeding with caution when people say a series should be watched out of order. You might watch some movies people like less (I'm sure the real point of this was to skip the largely-ignored European Vacation, which comes between the original Vacation, which is very well-liked, and Christmas Vacation, which is beloved), but I can't help but feel you can never go wrong with chronological release order because that's how they were made. But, again, I also ultimately agree that it isn't really that big of a deal.

Vincent Hollow

Have you seen The Legacy Cut, Tyler? I've heard it's about as close as we're gonna get to what the final film would have been, but haven't gotten to check it out yet.

Tyler Foster

I don't have any strong interest to watch fan edits, personally.

Movies with KL

"In general, I would say it's worth proceeding with caution when people say a series should be watched out of order." I agree! Thankfully this wasn't a situation where anyone told me that I should watch them out of order. I was the one asking the question if this was a series where they *could* be watched out of order.

Tyler Foster

Well, if you ever get to it, the one that *can't* be watched out of order (and my favorite one) is the 2015 reboot/sequel. Keeping the sitcom thing in mind, I don't think it's a spoiler to say (since this is more to do with creative choices outside of the world of the films themselves) that across the first four movies, the two kids in the family stay roughly the same age despite the films being made over the course of 14 years. That's probably part of why the order of the movies could be seen as interchangeable -- obviously, there are shifts in technology and fashion between 1983 and 1997, but those things aren't important within the films, so you could just say these are four vacations that this family experienced in whatever order you want to imagine. However, the 2015 one definitively takes place after those four vacations.
