Anne, Lily, Chanterelle and Sister Sunshine. She's come on well since 'Lie To Me'.

Domi. I don't know if I've ever seen you in a colorful outfit, or at least in blue. It looks nice.

"He (Boone) seems familiar..." HE seems familiar??? This is the THIRD time you're seeing Julia Lee, and HE seems familiar?!?!?! :-) Actually, that's kinda one of my favorite things with reactors when they get to "Blood Money"--and "Anne" too, really--seeing how long it takes them to make the connection. And honestly, it kinda boggles my mind a bit, because I can only remember how immediately and intensely both my significant other at the time and I were struck by her beauty in "Lie to Me". It was a running joke between us for years how, when she had her line in that episode about vampires being "the Lonely Ones," we turned to each other and practically said in unison, "There is NO way SHE is ever lonely!" :-) So needless to say, each time she popped up, it clicked for us right away. :-)

AlyAdmirer

"She's one of those characters who's either gonna stick around or die..." ... you don't even realize how right you are. :-)

Ron Fehr

The game that Wes and Gunn were playing in called Risk.

Ron Fehr

Darryl Gillikin The only place I remember seeing the actor who played Boone is in the movie The Shawshank Redemption. He played Boggs, the inmate who harrassed Tim Robbins' character.

For a long time I thought that Angel and Anne should have recognized each other, considering they met in the Buffy episode Lie To Me. She was part of the vampire worshiping cult. Then it was pointed out that they only interacted for a minute or two, not really enough time to make an impression.

Stargazer1682

In my case it easily took a decade to pick up on that, but in my defense I did watch a fair amount of both shows out of order initially.

In fairness, we saw Boone’s actor before too, in Phases! (Although he’s playing a different character here, and he’s in prosthetics)

AlyAdmirer

I can buy that argument when it comes to *Angel* not recognizing Anne--he's over 240 years old, even factoring in his years of soulful seclusion, he's no doubt had countless one-off interactions like that in his time... ... but he absolutely CRUSHES Chantrelle in that interaction. "You're a fool." Listen to the way she says "One of them was mean...", it's an encounter that absolutely impacted her in the moment. And *especially* the way she was portrayed in both "Lie to Me" and "Anne", an episode like their encounter, however brief, is one that would have lived in her mind for years to come. I still think it's a goof. It's just not an unforgivable goof. :-)

My headcanon is that it was really, really dark in the “Vampires Yay” club and she never got a good enough look 😂

Ron Fehr

I can understand Angel not recognizing Anne, but I agree with you Darryl, about the impression that he left on her when she was Chantrelle.

As others have pointed out, the blonde woman is Chantarelle from the Buffy episode Lie to Me: one of the people in Ford's group that worshiped vampires. She was also Lily in episode Anne. At the end of that episode she asked Buffy "Can I be Anne?" It looks like she not only took on that name, but also followed Buffy's example in showing strength and care for others. Back then she said she was not good at taking care of herself. Now she takes care of others and even runs a shelter. And the way she talks and acts in this episode shows a strength, I believe, far beyond Buffy's, or Angel's, or anyone else we've met on either show. She's pretty amazing in my opinion. What's this? Blood. It'll wash.

Anne sure has come a long way since the 2 previous times Domi has seen her. I like the growth of her character. I love Cordy's hair, I think it fits her well. Poor Merl, dude just can't catch a break.

Hannah Weber

Aw I wanted you to get that it’s Anne but I’ll let you be human cause I sure didn’t catch it when I watched it the first time round 😜 we love you!!

Brendan O'Connor

If you mean the werewolf hunter I think that’s a different actor

Brendan O'Connor

He’s been in a lot, though I don’t know half of his work. Another film I remember him in was The Departed as one of the Irish Mob enforcers

AlyAdmirer

Yeah, Mark Rolston (Boone) was *not* in "Phases". Jack Conley played Cain the werewolf hunter, and there is no listing for "Phases" on Rolston's IMDb entry for any role in the episode.

AlyAdmirer

That's the best explanation I've heard yet. :-)

🎶 I've got a gun and my name is Gunn🎶 Seriously though, I don't think it's overhyping to say this is probably one of my favourite arcs BtVSUniverse-wide. And one that I feel goes a little underappreciated, David just does such a great job of playing every version of Angel. His facial acting is just *chef's kiss*

Ray D

I just love that we can follow a character like Anne in the background of both Buffy and Angel and have it connect the universes. It’s very cool. For her to go from vampire obsessed cult in lie to me to lovesick teen in Anne, to now actually finding her footing in life running this shelter for teens. And the fact that the episode Anne on Buffy took place in LA it makes perfect sense she’d still be there to be on Angel. In fact the reason her name is now Anne, is because she took the identity Buffy was using, with Anne being Buffy’s middle name.

Ron Fehr

So Domi. I guess next time you go to Brazil, you'll be looking for Boone, eh? Lol😄

Nick Velasquez

So Angel or Angel-Dark as some would say… the main difference is that Angel as we usually know him uses his human soul (Liam) to fight against all the darkness and desires of the demon inside him (Angelus) This darker Angel still has his soul but is working with the demon. Practically unleashing it on them. I think what makes it a little creeper is knowing that our Angel is still in there, he just doesn’t care enough to fight against the darkness anymore

Ron Fehr

I have a question. Is it just vampires that lose their souls? Because there are some nice demons, and it's a little hard to picture them without souls. Lorne, for example. Also, some humans with souls can be horrible people. Which begs the question, what exactly is the purpose of a soul?

Ron Fehr

She does look different than when we first met her, doesn't she?

UTU49

He was also in Aliens.

UTU49

It's interesting to me how slow reactors have been to recognize her.

A stranger you interacted with for 2 minutes likely insulted you at some point in your life. Remember exactly what they looked like that you will recognize them several years later.

Stargazer1682

Whelp, opening up the email notification for Domi's latest reaction this morning, only to be very confused by the intro, before realizing it was for a show that isn't part of my subscription tier nor a show I watch, is pretty much about how my day is going so far...

JTII

I don't think demons have souls in the show. Lorne isn't that nice. He tolerates demons that eat babies in his bar and many other demons patrons, which would be the majority of the time.. evil. Think of it this way, if you were a bar owner in real life, you wouldn't tolerate known child murderers, nazis, communists, and rapists being patrons in your bar right? You'd want them never to be around you or your bar if you were a moral person

Lee Wilcock

Buffy and Angel are great fictitious heroes. But don't forget there are people like Anne in real life, and they're the real Heroes.
