Yeah...this is when Willow's magic issue, as you said, crossed a line, but if we're being honest, she's been toeing that line for //years.// To see it really clearly, go back and watch Something Blue again...sober this time lol. But even before that, she tried to spell Xander to delust him in season 2, she agreed to help Anya with her amulet mainly because she was upset her friends called her "reliable," she tried to curse both Veruca and Oz, she tried to spell Oz to force him to stay with her... When Giles cautioned her against doing magic when she's emotional, she lashes out at him defensively because she likely knows thats *exactly* how she treats magic--as a thing to help bend the world to her emotional whims, above even using it to help others, a lot of the time. D'Hoffryn says they hear her call not because she was so powerful in s4 but because her anger and pain were stronger than even her magic at that point. When she goes after Glory in revenge, in s5, she takes in the "Darkest Magic;" I don't think any of the gang ever learned that. It's sad because it's not as though these signs weren't there throughout her entire journey starting in s2. From saying spells she tried "tore her apart inside," to admitting that she wasn't ready for a number of spells performed to get the gang out of a jam at least once a year, and I think 3 times in s5 against a God, its hard. Her friends knew she was doing too much, she knew she was doing too much, but her own pride and their belief that she was strong enough to get through ok in the end led her down a darker path with it all. Now she has a history of always operating this way and always coming through it...you'd start to believe you're more than a little invincible, and kind of infallible, too.

That poor old man. First they take his toys, then his life, and even his wallet. And he made such nice treats that'll just go to waste. And Willow telling Tara to keep her mouth shut... Will, I love you, but nobody talks to Tara that way. And then making her forget about it is obviously all kinds of wrong.

Girl4Music

Remember in ‘After Life’ with the way confronts Xander about Willow’s resurrecting Buffy from the grave. How the thing about magic is that there’s always consequences and Willow withholding the information about bringing Buffy back. Xander: “What are you talking about? Willow wouldn’t do that.” Spike: “Oh, is that right?” Even if she does tell them, she could just erase the memory of telling them. 😖 Now think about the fights Willow and Tara are having about the consequences of using magic… hmmm, there you go… Such an awful abusive thing to do to anyone, never mind the one you love. Let me tell you without spoiling anything, the memory-erasing is not even the worst part about it. The one line from this episode that angers me just as much as it frightens me… When Tara asks Willow whether she wants her to just sit back and keep her mouth shut, Willow retorts with so much venom… “Well, that would be a good start.” I just keep thinking, “good start to what?” That line literally and constantly haunts me. Especially because it’s towards Tara. 😔

Tara isn't against Willow using magic. It's just her overuse of it. Magic is something to be used responsibly. Using it for menial things seems like such a waste.

Ron Fehr

I don't know about others, but I could tell immediately what Buffy was thinking when Spike suggested a bit of the 'rough and tumble'. This was one time when he was actually being literal, and not thinking what Buffy was thinking.

Ron Fehr

What?! Vampires in a show about a vampire slayer? Who would have expected that? Lol 😄😄😄

Hosman

Spike seemed kind of pissed that the vampires were out and about during Halloween. He said "We take the night off." or something like that He didn't seem to have a problem during Season 2's Halloween. Spike: "Well, this is just...neat."

Hosman

I always feel bad for that old guy. Most reactors always judge him and immediately call him creepy and before they even get to know him.

Dave Ford

That's hardly the reactors fault - you're entirely supposed to think he's a creepy bad guy. Just you're entirely supposed to think Darla is going to be killed by the boy in the opening scene of episode 1.

Dave Ford

Would killing bambi be the sign she might be going a bit 'dark' in her use of magic. And notice how she deliberately kept that from Tara.

Dee Aitch

Yes, the English idiom you were going for is "getting cold feet." I think they call it Spike's crypt? Your English is so amazing except for a few words having a slightly odd tweak to it. I kinda thought you were just a Californian. I didn't recognize baby Amber Tamblyn. It's always interesting seeing the young actors that pop in. Her character name is Janice although it sounded like Michelle said Genesis several times to my ear.

Girllll I’m so excited for 6x07 I legit started watching your reactions in the beginning and many other buffy reactors and the first thing I always do is see when they’re gonna watch once more with feeling! Can’t believe we’re nearly there. Hope you love it

Girl4Music

Precisely. If it was the former, she’d be a hypocrite as a magic user herself.

Ron Fehr

Impressive and creative of Buffy using a car door to decapitate a vampire. Also, I believe this is the first time we get to see Giles staking vampires. Not just one, but three.

Ron Fehr

Yep, you're right. I wasn't sure, so that's why I said "I believe."

Ron Fehr

Willow, you can't let magic run your life. It's only part of who you are. If you use magic for everything, it ceases to become special.

Ron Fehr

I guess Giles can be clumsy at times, tripping over nothing in the cemetery.

Devon Martin

Can't wait to watch your reactions to the rest of season 6 😎👀🥴. I'm so excited for you 🙂🙂
