Ramble: Best and Worst Business Decisions of the Walt Disney Company

Comments

Jenny Nicholson

I'd like to clarify that even when it looks like it there are no black spots on the dumbo ears. This is just the light catching the natural tufts and valleys in its luxurious fur

Hort

Oh I’m seated

Connor

Jenny is going to roast Disney more than Chapek did for his entire tenure

Momo

I finished reading Disney War not too long ago so I'm interested if anything mentioned in that gets brought up

Olivia Smith

2.5 hours 😍 So this is my 'watch on repeat' video for the next month, very excited

Benjamin Pietra

Best business decision in Disney history is that hat

Luis

Hmmm get 8 hours of sleep for work tomorrow or watch a 2.5 hour ramble...I know what I'm picking lol

Apollo Seven

Oh thank God I can turn off the NFL playoffs and watch some real entertainment.

Ian

I read the notification too quickly and thought you were on 'Best of the Worst' for a second haha

Sarahodo

2.5hr ramble! Hell yes!

viruviruviru

2 AND A HALF HOURS!!!! that's kinda insane for a patreon video i feel like i should give you more money

matt

NO FUCKING WAY!!!!!!!

matt

to be fair, that's pretty normal for her videos lol

Jazz Me to the Moon

IMO, Disney's best decisions: Doing rides inspired by Jules Verne. Worst decisions: Removing them. I'm sure there were good reasons to do so, but as a big Jules Verne fan, I just can't get over it.

Honeyhailey

Have to get up at 4 for work this will get me through ty ❤️❤️❤️

Benjamin A.

Again with the small hat.

reagan

literally two minutes ago I posted “I miss jenny I hope she posts soon” AND THEN YOU BLESSED US WITH THIS VIDEO THANK YOU JENNYYYYYYYYYY

Sarahodo

I'm not at all a theme park person, but I feel like I know basically everything about theme parks now from watching/rewatching Jenny vids lol

Rob Fitzsimmons

Corollary: actually doing Jules Verne rides - good. Spraypainting everything gold-brown a la Tomorrowland 1998 and calling it a day - bad.

Steven Werner

I agree that they should have made a new Lion King ride over princess and the frog flavoring of the iconic splash mountain

sarahserif

disney fairies mention!! 🧚✨

Jenny Nicholson

If you get a healthy sleep I might delete it before you wake up as punishment :O

Isaac Jordan

i gotta say, dumbo’s ears flapping about whenever jenny gets heated about certain topics really adds a lot of emotion and flavor to what she’s saying. 10/10 use of giant plush hat

Jenny Nicholson

I think princess and the frog is a decent fit for Disneyland since it's bordering New Orleans Square but I'm tired of these rides that are identical on both coasts. Huge missed opportunity to reskin them as different movies and have 2 unique rides. The ride system is the expensive part anyway, so it's peak cheapness to not be willing to pay 2 sets of design teams

Luis

Of course I'm watching lol sleep is for the weak!

Nathaniel Snow

Omg autograph books! We are going to Orlando next week and we got our girls books! They still have the squishy covers too

Jenny Nicholson

Maybe when they're my age they'll think just as vividly about holding those squishy covers

Eric Kaplan

I remember some kind of offensive Witch Doctor or maybe even cannibals in a pot joke on Jungle Cruise in the 70s -- did I dream it?

Anna Gae

just joined your patreon a few weeks ago! wasnt expecting a new video this quickly :) and its a TWO HOUR VIDEO!!! thanks! made my night

Anna Gae

i like how the ears flop around when you move 10/10 hat

O

Love the Apple Pie Tree shoutout! I remember you were going to make an Apple Pie Tree themed video for a subscriber goal- were you ever able to secure the tree? I was really looking forward to that one!

Rob Fitzsimmons

When I was a kid we had our stroller stolen and my sister and I lost a bunch of souvenirs, including our autograph books. The guest relations people managed to replace pretty much everything, and when they gave us replacement autograph books they had filled out a bunch of the pages, including some really obscure ones for characters you never really see in the parks. Like, when were you going to get Tinkerbell to sign your book pre-Pixie Hollow?

Jenny Nicholson

YEAH I think I cut this out cause it was too far off tangent, but in special circumstances (esp when the guest is able to leave/come back later) we'd actually take a golf cart over to character central and get leads/performers to sign a ton of names there, which was fun cause some of them had quite a roster of random characters

Dan Gibbins

I just hit play and oh wow the hat is better than I expected

Jessica

I have a funny story regarding autographs. My family went to Disney World when I was 10 along with another family. During the trip, some days both families would split into their respective groups for part of the day, but we would always have dinner together. Well, because we would split up, my friend and I would get different autographs, and then we would spend part of dinner essentially FORGING autographs from each other’s books by copying the respective character’s signature to the best of our child ability. Our parents were pretty aghast at this, but in hindsight, I’m surprised we just did it in the first place lol.

Kylie

I feel like the Disney Fairies line started off skewing a little older than the princesses, especially with the novels by Gail Carson Levine. But the movies and the merch that followed seemed to cater more to younger audiences.

Aria

I remember back in 2018 being so relieved that Disney was smart enough to extend the licensing deal with Oriental Land Co to 2076. 2018 Disney seemed like they'd be the most likely to try and claw back the license and I was really worried about that.

O

Honestly some of my favorite memories of Disney trips was character dining. I was a child. With a specific interest. I was raised a Winnie the Pooh kid, but I VENERATED Piglet. My childhood toy was a Piglet puppet that I took everywhere with me- to this day I still jokingly call Piglet my best friend. So going to The Crystal Palace and being able to hug Piglet and get a picture of him was the light of my little life. I have one of those pictures hanging in my room now. It was so special because while Winnie the Pooh is obviously still a popular IP, Piglet is not one of the most popular characters. So getting to meet Piglet EVERY TRIP. FOR SURE. Made me so happy 😭 I hated the food, though! I was just there to see my best friend, lol. Ah, to be young!

sarahserif

I’d be very down for a disneyland vlog (or a universal vlog!)

Hayes Von Holder

omg sarah serif is in here?? i was literally just telling a friend that your channel reminds me of jenny’s insofar as, even if i don’t especially care about the topic being covered, i’m still very entertained listening to you talk about it

eden

mentioning the great mouse detective specifically when talking about the wealth of available loungefly bags is so funny to me because i collect merch from that movie (which there’s obviously not much of) and i have the loungefly wallet for it and i’ve felt for years i should get the backpack but it’s so ugly (it’s made up of toby the dog’s giant head with these huge fuzzy ears on either side and i’d never even dream of wearing it except mayyybe to the parks with my usual basil disneybound) and goes for so much money that i’ve never been able to justify the purchase. maybe it’s because those secondhand sellers know there aren’t that many of them to begin with so it should be a more competitive market (even though there isn’t because it’s basically just me in the market) but they usually go for about 150 dollars on ebay (they were originally sold for around 60 i think). anyway, it’s been a constant push and pull with me on if i should ever finally click purchase or not and i was thinking about it this morning so it made me jump out of my seat when it was mentioned in the video.

Brendan Trosper

Jenny I agree that you would have crushed being a Jungle Cruise Guide. Please make this a Patreon video, but write your own (better) jokes! You could literally just have stills on the screen as you narrate and I would be cackling.

Birthe_bird

Love winnie pooh so much too. loved piglet and eeyore a lot cause they both are very relatable to me, cause as a kid I was a bit shy and timid, as I got older I found eeyores outlook on the world occassionally very relatable and also that hes defo more introverted than the others. So I have a Piglet pillow and an eeyore in my bedroom. Winnie Pooh is still so fun cause I like how literal they sometimes get, and play with the whole it's a book stuff and that childlike view of the world. It's just so good.

Celozon

I keep wanting to go back to the disney world parks cause we live nearby but genie+ just makes the whole thing sound horrible. I need to go again though before they close Dinosaur cause I just really love it a lot and am upset they are gonna replace it with whats probably a much more screen-filled version. They removed a lot of my favorites from when I was a kid; Great Movie Ride, Universe of Energy, Alien Encounter/Stitch's Great Escape, so maybe mostly nostalgic but certainly makes it feel like it isn't worth going to the parks when they remove good rides and replace them with nothing or something way worse...

Bag of Tricks

I don't keep up with Disney news besides what Jenny mentions. From this video it sounds like not much hope was inspired by Iger taking back over from Chapek? Obviously it's not like they're going to reverse course on the IP- and screen-based stuff, but not even some amendments to the Genie Plus situation and such?

Ugino

I'm so grateful that you got cheese because it reminded me that I have cheese and now I'm gonna get cheese

Mimi Cornish

At least one of the Universe of Energy dinosaurs was moved to Disneyland's diorama!

Ted Koutz

The one guy who noticed and didn't like how Jungle Cruise removed the racially insensitive elements was a Vegas lawyer who'd visit the parks multiple times per year, who mentioned this in a long editorial where he also complained about how cast members' hairstyles broke immersion for him.

Ruby

This is off topic, but I just wanted to say that your makeup is ON POINT in this video.

Birthe_bird

I wish they had a grown ups version for the boutique... i mean obviously you cant be styled as a princess exactly... but i feel there could be options. and i guess theres grown up hair and make up salons... but I want it done by a fairy god damn it

Wallace

absolutely mesmerized by this hat. cannot figured out how its ears move

Ben J

maybe it would be cool if you did a video where you were the girl from that Blind Melon video (No Rain). and you tell the whole story of the nineties from the eyes of that girl from the Blind Melon video. AND the twist could just be you play Galaxie by Blind Melon and it would fuckin kill I'm serious.

flynnparadox

Yes, I think most of us would love a new Disneyland vlog video

Eleanor Woods

alternative title: jenny knows her stuff about theme parks and editing jenny corroborates in all caps in the corner for 2 and a half hours

Stacey Tappan

I will be forever devastated about the loss of Disneyland's Peoplemover. It was such a proof of concept for EPCOT and Walt's vision of different levels of public transport all coexisting and creating this beautiful futuristic landscape. Having the Peoplemover, Autopia, and the Monorail winding through Tomorrowland on different levels was his absolute vision of the future of transportation. We rode the Monorail on our last visit and it was so sad to see the gleaming white track of the Peoplemover full of dirt and fallen leaves, the rails rusting and falling off.

Megan Smart

Hearing you talk about the IP land rethemes made me terribly nostalgic for California Adventure circa 2015ish. I wasn't a fan of the Pixar Pier retheme, but Marvel land killed any desire I had to return. The California Adventure I want to visit is gone :(

Birthe_bird

As a german I get why german makes you want to talk in a deeper voice, I always go higher when speaking english.

Lemon Cheese

finally the deep dive drought ends

#1 Opabinia Fan

imo the real worst decision was when they remodeled toontown and got rid of the gas station fish :( when i went to disneyland with my family i was a bit disappointed to not see them (it was during the remodel) so when i went back with a friend i was heartbroken to go there and not find them :(

Mimosa

Do come to Osaka/Tokyo for the world fair! They’re struggling big time finding countries and companies interested in doing pavilions and honestly I don’t think the tourist crowds will be worse than an average cherry blossom season. If you want to see something very cool for art in Japan, though, I think you should visit when the Setouchi art triennale (also happening in spring, summer and autumn 2025). It’s gorgeous and held in an archipelago.

Natalie Arnold

I cant decide if this means you didn't understand autographs/signatures as a kid, or that you understood a little too well.

Natalie Arnold

So since you mentioned wanting to come back to Japan, USJ has pretty great food in my opinion (it's not in Tokyo though). Toad café aside, they are basically constantly doing some kind of themed collab with an anime or video game or SOMETHING, plus the quality of food is pretty high to begin with, so you get the joy of a delicious fried bun thing that is ALSO pikachu-themed and adorable. Or a sparkling Anya Forger refreshment (I don't remember what was in it but it was pink and refreshing). Don't sleep on USJ, is my point.

Nos4ay2

About the last thing with the river rapids ride, I knew the Dreamworld thing was gonna come up. It was horrific when it happened esp. cause everyone who ever went to Dreamworld would go on that ride. It was THE family ride (mine had gone on it once or twice each time we'd go) The line also winds past the docking area so a bunch of ppl and little kids saw what happened. Love the video. And I definitely will never go on one of those rides ever again. (It got removed afterwards but haven't checked to see what they've put instead. Dreamworld was the king of parks during the 90s to early 2010s but theyve lost the crown on the Gold Coast to Movieworld hard.)

Bruce Climas

Your poor vocal chords, that was one helluva long ramble! As always, you make a subject I have little interest in entertaining.

IndigoRen

What about Mowgli’s Palace?

Jenny Nicholson

That was a medium decision; similar to Discovery Island, it's a shame to see it abandoned but it's now become a habitat for feral mickey suits

Jenny Nicholson

Profile pic checks out. I think they're putting in a themed Wizard of Oz land now so that could be kind of cool! I can't tell yet how ambitious it'll be tho

SkeledroMan

Disneyland Paris has been nothing but a string of the company's worst decisions since 1996. Spending half of their initial budget on hotels instead of the park. Indiana Jones being a coaster instead of the world class dark ride that the main park still desperately needs almost 30 years later. Cheaping out so much on the studios park that it's still unfixable, despite their attempts, when it would have cost them less just to wait a few years. Building a paris area 15 miles away from the real thing after the disaster that was California Adventure. Retheming space mountain, the main park's only great ride, and its greatest selling point to locals, twice. All just to make it into unremarkable IP garbage. It's shocking that disney can keep getting away with less than what would be the bare minimum in any of their other parks. No creativity, no effort, only cost cutting. Disney is so stingy with these parks that they refuse to spend on the most obvious money makers. They know that the french public eats up jules verne rides and they have entire ready made jules verne themed lands in tokyo disneysea that are a perfect fit for paris. But instead they choose to take away their main visitor base's favourite part of the parks by removing the jules verne themes from space mountain and the nautilus.

Austin F

jenny, idk if you'll read this, but i have a weird niche question for you, because you're one of a rare few that might actually have an opinion on it. as a fellow vegetarian, how do you feel about the fact that Impossible fake meat is so popular now, and now that's what all of the veggie burgers are made of? because i don't really like the way they taste😭i always preferred veggie stuff that uses spices and stuff rather than just being 'imitation meat', and it seems like the latter is winning out nowadays :(

Tony Pepperoni

Lots of people were staying up late to watch the new video, but I’m here repping the early risers who are watching early in the morning before work. There are literally dozens of us!

Nathaniel Snow

I hope so! We also have a princess breakfast booked at epcot... and we can't wait to meet Figment there as well!

Austin F

that's me, actually! (although i don't have work today because there was a huge snowstorm and almost everything is closed)

Steven Werner

impossible foods are actually catering to people that like and currently eat meat but want to be responsible and reduce meat consumption. (like me). To me Beyond meat tastes nasty because I have an expectation of what meat should taste like, and I actually really like impossible foods and hope they continue to perfect the product to help reduce factory meat farming

Austin F

oh, i know about why they exist, i just wish they weren't the only option. (i also dislike the Beyond one. if you can find a Gardenburger, those slap so hard. i wish all vegetarian options were like that one)

Crowasaur

TWO AND A HALF HOURS? You spoil us!

AnnaBanana

I literally had the same idea to go to Japan for the world’s fair/Tokyo Disney. My friends and I are planning already. The last expo in Dubai looked amazing! Since finding out about the 2025 fair I’ve kind of fallen into that intense internet research trap regarding the expo and its history. I know so much. Everyone is sick of hearing about it. Anyway, excited to see how it turns out!

JABenn

Horizons is and will always be my Roman Empire. That goddamn ride will stay in my head forever, and it was closed before I was even born. I want to go back in time and ride it so bad

Markus D

I feel basically the same about Marvel. I haven't watched Loki, nor really have a desire to, but I'm interested in watching Moon Knight because it seems like it's own isolated story, and is apparently a really good representation of DID (at least as far as media goes) and Oscar Isaac's a fantastic actor.

Markus D

Maybe she talks about Blind Melon in the video, but without having finished it, this comment sounds like the biggest, weirdest non-sequitur. Edit: I have completed the video and have no idea why you said this.

FloatAwayLilly

I’d absolutely be down for a Jenny goes to see the updates and Disneyland!

Miles le Fay

I rushed back here from YouTube when you mentioned doing a Disneyland vlog to voice my interest! Thank you for this 2.5 hours of iconicism!

Markus D

When were talking about the Davy Crockett/Mike Fink keelboats you said they were "sailboat sized" and then followed it with "probably fits 30 to 40 people" I literally exclaimed "WHAT!?" because my concept of a sailboat is one of those small boats with a tall, slim sail made for a single person to pilot that usually has a tiny cabin, but not much else. You could probably, physically fit 30 people onto one, but it definitely wouldn't be comfortable and would probably be too heavy to maneuver well if it didn't outright sink too much to really move.

Stacey Tappan

It's because German sits in a different part of your mouth than English. English sits in the middle of the mouth; German is centered further towards the back because of the palatal and velar fricatives (ich/ach) and the uvular r. In an effort to get sounds further back when you're not used to it, you may pull back your tongue or otherwise swallow your pronunciation, which can lower the voice. (This, by the way, is a great way to approach doing foreign accents - if you can identify where in the mouth you feel most of the words are centered for a particular language, it helps a lot.)

Frita Gee

I will not forgive whoever spearheaded the cultural rehabilitation of pleather as vegan leather. Terrible for the environment and even disregarding that belongs in the Justices of Forever 21s of 2009 and nowhere else.

S G Matthews

So sad that it was Abandoned by Disney…

Sheren

for a 2+ hr video i would like to make a thoughtful comment but really it just makes me want to see a video of rating plush hats, because theyre delightful

MaxMin

when I pause youtube puts the runtime over the video and I can't read the notes on the video. I miss when it was just below the video and didn't cover parts of it. Worst Youtube Business Decision

Amy

I vote Jenny wears the Dumbo plush hat for future rambles even when not disney related because it brought me so much joy every single time the ears flapped.

Keith Hasperg

Bears, beets, Business Decisions

Larry Bewarey

Actually disney world used to have physical fast passes you got at the park like you described. I know because i got pickpocketed my jungle cruise fast pass AT THE SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON TREEHOUSE.

Jwoey

two and a half hours yessssss

Xela

The character dining thing is absolutely diabolical. Imagine the outrage if Disney announced Premium Characters you can only meet for a $20 fee. Riots in the streets. Character dining lets them do that and people LOVE IT. Wild Most Disney parents know to bring a dress and accessories to Bibbidi Bobbidi, the expensive packages are basically thought of as "for rich people" and/or a "mom forgot the dress at home" fee

Kay Claire

I would definitely be keen for another Disney vlog!

Thomas Dziura

30 seconds on the Marvel acquisition. 20 minutes on reusing America Sings animatronics for Splash Mountain. Never change, Jenny

Candice Maplestreet

I did my DCP in stores east in 2012 and I swear the Observatron would turn on at the most random moments. No rhyme or reason at all. No one could tell us what prompted it. Guests would ask for the schedule and we would all just be like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯when the stars properly align? It is a mystery that still haunts me to this day.

Bryan Sutton

You should wear the Dumbo hat at some point in recording your FNAF video, and provide no elaboration.

Lindsay

A Disneyland vlog sounds lovely. I also can't believe how hard the Dumbo hat slaps in this video.

VermiciousKnid

I like the hat, it's like a bean bag for your head

RadCatCreations

Speaking of Disney not making non IP based attractions anymore, a weird phenomenon that's been happening that I wasn't even aware of is that people don't even know that the non IP attractions aren't based on anything?? Because they've all since had movie adaptions. I found this out because a friend made a horrifying comment to me when I said the Eddie Murphy Hanunted mansion movie wasn't very well liked and they said "it must have been pretty popular since they made a ride based on it". So like there's just people walking around thinking that Pirates, Haunted Mansion, etc. exist only because of the movies???? Idk why that was so upsetting to me

Jenny Nicholson

I've never heard it about Haunted Mansion but a LOT of people believe that about Pirates, I heard it all the time at the parks and it does drive me crazy (Like even just from a media literacy standpoint it makes no sense to me, how could you go on the ride and think that with how little it follows the characters/events from the movie, and with how old timey the mostly-original audio is, in performance and recording quality??)

Cate C

I think a great business decision that Disney would never make these days is the Dapper Dans (the barbershop quartet) on Main Street. It's great ambience and Instagram fodder for minimal effort on Disney's end. Plus if you (like me lol) follow professional barbershop there's a decent chance that you'll see someone you recognize!

Tori Rittenger

A. I am fully hyper for the 5NaF vid. B. Your eyeshadow looks phenomenal with those ears. 👏🏻

Nora Hammen

lmao i have the same hope/desire to go to japan in 2025 for the world expo and using that as an excuse to see a bunch of the country and parks like disney sea and ghibli!

Kate Buhler

I have no interest in going to theme parks in general and even if I had the option, I wouldn't want to go on Horizons anyway BUT your love for Horizons makes me a mixture of nostalgic and heartbroken about it no longer being there.

C

Yeah. Really terrific book that covers a lot of what was going on during the Eisner era. The author had a shocking level of access to Eisner (and, I think, the Disney archives). Eisner apparently believed he was going to get a hagiography, but the author didn't pull his punches. It's extra fascinating because the book ended up being written contemporaneously with Eisner's ouster from the company, and it covers the story.

Ann Parker

The interface on Genie+ is horrendous! My inlaws are huge Disneyland fans, in the “every 3-6 years” category, and prided themselves on their fastpass routine/park savvy. They took me for my first trip there in Feb ’22, and we had to spend an entire day of a three-day trip figuring out how the app was supposed to work. The UI was cluttered and clunky, and way more focused on teaching you their new buzzwords and brand names for things than about explaining how to use it to do the one thing anyone wants to do with it (fastpass). I’m skeptical that anyone really wants the “our algorithm will suggest an itinerary for you” feature they push so hard. And yeah, for those of us where Disney is an occasional splurge instead of an annual thing, that shot of cold water of “they’re CHARGING for fastpass?” can be a real pump the brakes on goodwill.

Ann Parker

(Shoutout to the poor worker staffing the dole whip booth, whose entire job was to stand there informing people who walked up wanting dole whip that now if you want a dole whip at 2pm you have to have reserved it on the app at 7am)

Clouds in the Sky

One business desicion Disney did that I keep debating myself whether it was a smart thing or not for them to do was the 20th Century Fox purchace. Because on the one hand, I think it's still good that they're still letting James Cameron run the Avatar movies and keeping 20th Century Fox's indie movies division- Searchlight Pictures and trying to keep the good quality badge on both cases by giving creative control to the filmmakers like on Avatar: Way of Water and All Of Us Strangers and releasing them in theaters. But even tho you could probably argue that under the previous owners The Murdoch family, an LGBTQ+ Magical Realism like All Of Us Strangers would not have been approved to get made. And I guess because of the financial struggles which were why if I remember correctly selling Fox, James Cameron would probably have had to compromise on artistic things because of potential budget shortage issues. That being said, Disney really doesn't know what to do with the major thing they bought which is 20th Century Fox itself now. You think they'd have tried to make it their new "Touchstone Studios" brand where they used it to release like mainstream movies for teens and adults but they barely anything with them. Maybe it's the fact they've had to take out the FOX name out of the logo to not be associated with Murdoch's remaining FOX assets like Fox News lol. And now the name is 20th Century Studios: maybe that's why it feels like besides the Avatar franchise Disney seems to have little faith right on who used to be one of their biggest rivals 15 years ago. Edit: Ok apparently, one of the assets Disney bought from Murdoch still has the FOX name brand lol: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Networks_Group

I miss Gardenburgers so much! They don't carry them in my local grocery stores anymore :(

Cowboy Jaz Luo

I am an elder zoomer (I'm 25) and I never go on any trip without my mini-backpack!! I love it to bits. I also have a friend my age who does in fact collect Loungeflys. 😆 I don't know what she's gonna do with 15 backpacks, but if it makes her happy then love that for her. 😂

Thom Kitimat

I can recommend it, both for that (I actually ended up reading and learning more about DID from it) and at least a little bit of Egyptian representation beyond just the gods. Some of my friends felt it fell apart a bit but eh, I liked it, and it has both Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke who are always good.

Thom Kitimat

And yep, pretty much no connection as of now to the wider MCU, you wouldn't really know it was in the same narrative universe besides one glancing reference to Black Panther.

Thom Kitimat

I haven't worked this out, but I feel Jenny may have actually made more hours of content than Marvel in recent years, and hereby propose that (although I do like some of their Disney+ stuff) they just hand it over to her, and the Jenny Nicholson Cinematic Universe can begin its reign, wherein you have to watch five series about plush hats to understand a film about dodgy mediaeval theme parks and a seasonal special on ghost hunting makes a major revelation that plays into it all somehow. Alternatively, just replace every other Marvel release with a plush hat of the character it would have focussed on. (And yes to another Disneyland vlog.)

Melanie Warner

the dumbo hat was the first best business decision

mango

oh my god thank you for verbalizing what makes riding the astro orbiter feel so precarious, the only time i've ridden it i instinctively splayed out exactly like you described and i hated the experience so much i've never gone back

Mike Carpenter

I really liked your point about autograph books being good for neurodivergent children and I agree with your reasoning. I think that was why I liked the autograph book. As an adult it's one reason I love pin trading, because I get overwhelmed with the crowds but I can pretty much always stop and ask to see a cast member's pins to redirect my brain to looking for whatever new set is CM exclusive while I'm there. A parent will also occasionally ask me if I could trade with their child (or gets my attention so their child can ask) which as someone who isn't very outgoing might be one of only a few positive interactions with other guests throughout the day. Since there are a lot of shouty/shovey guests at any given time it's nice to have a positive contrast.

The best loungefly I have is a Disney World whatever anniversary just happened bag. It’s canvas with embroidered bits on it like space mountain and tiki birds and monorails all dotting it. And it has top handles too that are sturdy so it’s perfect to put into ride baskets and take out really fast, sling on your back, it’s a bit bigger than a mini bag but much smaller than a backpack so it’s the perfect theme park size to put in leftovers and purchases and it’s not pleather so it’ll last. I’ve used it at other theme parks and when flying and I love it. It was like $100 I think but absolutely worth it. I have one pleather loungefly Robin Hood and maid Marion bag and I’m so afraid of it getting ruined that I never wear it and just have it hanging on my wall like a weird big picture. But your video convinced me to actually use it.

demonsita

Jenny just unblocked my childhood memory of the only time I went to a disney park, it was disney world, and I was like 8 and we went to one of those character restaurants for lunch and Pluto and Donald Duck came to our table and it was seriously such a highlight of the trip. As kids me and my sister were in awe with excitement. Thank you Jenny for bringing this up as one of the best decisions! Completely agree from that personal experience I had

Mack

Me 2 hours ago: a new Jenny patron video! Hooray, I’m so excited! Me now: I will never go on a rapids ride again.

demonsita

Completely agree! Watching this reminded me of the only time I went to a park and how my parents took me to one of those and how excited and emotional we got when we met Pluto and Donald at our table but now I look back and I’m like dear god how much did my parents spend??? Very diabolical indeed

Dan Gibbins

As a kid seeing Disneyworld for the first time, my parents practically had to pry me out of the Imagination Pavilion every morning, I love it and Figment so much. Last year, I rode it one time a) because we were trying to do all 10 of Jenny's "Top Ten Things to Do at Disneyworld" (well worth it overall), and b) to see my old friend and remember what used to be. [Heavy sigh] But such is life. Sadness wrapped up in hope. Also the Dreamfinder told me that owning a dragon was a terrible idea the day after I got my own plush Figment so, you know, never meet your heroes.

Jenny Nicholson

It sucks, I've never known anyone to use the automatic itinerary. It often sends you to things that aren't even open or are in the wrong park, and even when it's running perfectly it's not a good service. It's not "according to our data the current wait time for Haunted Mansion is great," it's "you said you wanted to ride Mine Train, do that now, wait time 110 minutes"

Jenny Nicholson

I felt obligated to do a couple themed ones in Europe and one literally had a free for all section where the river widened up and the boats all circled and bumped each other until they made it back out of the circle and I felt like I was staring death in the face

C

When you were talking about the MLPs it reminded me that apparently a lot of early Lego bricks (from 1980ish) are fragile nowadays too. Watched someone build one of those old space sets and some of the smallest pieces had like, crumbled apart in the bags. There's something really sad about that. I think the biggest Disney Crime is the removal of the beautiful water feature from the Polynesian. It was one of the coolest places in World, and now... well, it's still kinda nice, but all the soul feels gone. I always wanted to stay there, but never managed it before they reworked the place.

Cameron

When you mentioned the river rapids ride, I immediately started thinking of what happened in Australia before you even brought it up. Makes me nauseous thinking about how often I’ve been on rides like that and felt weird about the boats!

IBBTTTYE

It astounds me how, as one of the richest companies in the world, Disney is so cheap.

Narcissa Deville

I feel like what could be a neutral thing is that Disney is finally embracing it's Villains line but I do feel like they underutilize it as a brand. There are many myself included who love Disney Villains and I feel like they should utilize them more.

SamaLamaDama

Go to Disneyland Paris if you ever get the chance! I was fortunate enough to go for a day this past year, and I could go on my own hours long ramble about how great that park was. It was so beautiful and lush with lots of attention to details, and in May the weather was perfect and there was hardly anyone there! Phantom Manor was awesome, and they had so many little interesting places to explore. Their Pirates has the best "indoor but feels outdoor" queue, and their restaurant inside the ride Captain Jack's is extremely well themed. It was the best day I've had at a Disney Park ever! I unfortunately couldn't figure out a way to go to Efteling on our trip, and I doubt I'll be going back to Europe in the foreseeable future, so I can't wait to hear the Jenny take on it some day! :)

Another Efteling mention! I pray for a video about it one of these years.

Same!!

I loved quorn so much and wish they hadn't lost this battle. I do like some of the gardein options. But in general I agree that I wish vegetarian options weren't trying to be meat (or there should be both - fake meat for those trying to wean off meat, and more veggie/grain/mushroom/etc focused options for us)

J B

Yes, 2 1/2 hour ramble! Here for this, wish people would ask for something other than ...you know....you do it well but my God, jenny shouldn't have to keep talking about the same things. I get it, I shouldn't complain. I've only suggested a real deep dive into the opening song from beetleborgs. Next month we need ( jenny bitches about neighborhood cats) jenny raps about her sisters weird mole, yep her sister makes Mexican dishes, and that's a homonym joke. I'm just saying this isn't some one trick pony 🐎 she has depth, so stop asking about Disney, this girl is clearly tired of beating that dead horse. Also I will 100% watch another jenny beats a dead horse video. P.s. Maybe I should shut up because this did produce a long video, it's around the cheese break that you realize you need a cheese break and that's a good thing.

Ryan Chin

Jenny please do a video about Nintendo Land!!!

Julia

Those water rapid rides are dangerous but Dreamworld is a bad example of an “act of god.” Something in the ride did fail causing the incident— the water pump iirc was broken causing the first raft to be stranded. Loved the video <3

a.s.

is there a link to this editorial?? I'm so captivated by this concept and need to find out what his beef with the hairstyles was

t0tally 3rica

Raven Symone is up there with Hillary Duff as the prototype actress/pop star

lori

Great video! Holiday World *just* closed their white water rapid ride (Raging Rapids), and since it was my favorite, I was super bummed. Buuuuuut hearing you talk about that incident in Australia... maybe it's good that it closed. There are rumors that they'll remodel it but continue to have it as a rapids ride, but now knowing how dangerous those rides are, I bet they removed it as a safety decision. RIP raging rapids, helloooooo gravy train!

reinier

FL here. Saw ramble last night. There's a sink hole in from of my job this morning. Coincidence?

Are the people in charge of the Tokyo parks also in charge of the merch there? The merch in Japan looks so much better (both kid friendly AND adult oriented) and inventive than in other parks. I was born and live in Paris so I'm very nostalgic about the park and I was always curious to see the other ones because tourists speak so negatively of the Paris one. As a kid it was one of the most affordable "vacation" you could get (coupons from work/endless discounts/free transportation thanks to the subway/mcdonald just outside) so I would go every year for a day or even two. The Jules Verne section was absolutely magical - the sound, smoke, and movement of the Space Mountain Canon every time the ride would start was incredible. The music was beautiful and and all the designs were exactly like I what I imagined reading the books. The layout of the park was also great to me because it's very easy to navigate and it never seems too big or too small for a child - I never got tired. And the dragon inside the castle is v neat. They did a lot of needed renovation work over the years but the studio section is still a bit of a mess and I don't have hope that they will put money or work in the new star wars land. Hopefully Frozenland will be good? ps: thank you for saying that "kids love transformation stories"! A few years ago there were lots of essays about makeover scenes and makeover films being problematic and they almost always missed the "kids and teens love seeing people transform" aspect.

Matt Grippi

Rocket Rods is my number one white whale ride I missed at Disney as a kid. A friend of mine came back from the park raving about how amazing “rocket rods” was but when I went to the park there was no info of it ever existing. This was pre google, or before I knew how to research stuff, so I just thought my STUPID parents couldn’t find the best Disney ride of all time, rocket rods. I’m sure it sucks but I’ll spend the rest of my life chasing rocket rods

Trips

When you mentioned having a pleather bag that you used for a while and really liked I was like "Oh yeah me too!" and then you said "I think it was from H&M" and I was like "Omg mine was from H&M!!" and then you showed the bag and I was like "WHOA!!" cause it was the same bag!! hahahaha. Mine also fell apart and got all gross, it was really sad. I wish I could have used it as my only bag for life.

Hayes Von Holder

oh my god, i just realized i wasn’t actually subscribed to your channel 🤦🏼‍♀️ i fixed that lol

Katherine Fae

I had a fuzzy Tigger autograph book and my mom turned it into a scrapbook that had pictures of 5 yo me at Disney next to the characters signatures. It is a cherished possession for me.

Alice Parkin

thank you for the ramble!! I want to quickly say how stellar Dumbohat is, every time you moved your head and his big ears flapped I was newly delighted by just how big and flappy they were, what a joy

Rachel Cook

Jenny, I love your eyeshadow. If you have a tutorial you use to get a similar look, I would love to see it.

Ted Koutz

If the link doesn't work the editorial is "I Love Disney World But Wokeness is Ruining the Experience" and it was published in 2021 the Orlando Sentinel by a guy from Las Vegas. He complains about "inclusive hairstyles" and "inclusive uniforms." At the risk of putting words in his mouth I think he's referring to the CROWN Act, which prohibits race-based workplace discrimination based on hairstyle. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/2021/04/23/i-love-disney-world-but-wokeness-is-ruining-the-experience-commentary/#ed=rss_www.orlandosentinel.com/arcio/rss/category/news/

Please make a Disneyland vlog! I live in Michigan and the only way stay sane during this part of the year is by watching Disney Park vlogs, though the changes brought by Genie+ has killed a lot of the enthusiasm for me.

Jordan

petition for you and goodtimeswithscar to get together to talk about disney, imagineering, theme park history, star wars, literally anything you feel like. i would watch unlimited hours of that 👀

Joe Weidman

Jenny, I’m dying to know which four loungefly bags you have. Also, yes please to the Disneyland vlog :)

a.s.

thanks omg this guy sounds soooo fun to vacation with (i bet he and randy moore would really hit it off)

Crescent Minor

I can think of fewer more likely poll winners than 'Jenny Bounces Around Disneyland'

zanna

i only went to disney world once in like 2010 or something and i already missed out on so many cool/nostalgic disney things but i'm always so fascinated and sad listening to videos like this learning about how everything has changed since i was running around with my little autograph book. every day i miss the great movie ride SO MUCH. and peter pan's flight too. man.

Alexa Galloway

Okay, but the Dumbo hat is making your eyes POP Jenny. Excellent hat!

Sara Jane Webster

Yes please! Even just like, a reference to someone’s video.

David A Behlman

You know you can always rewatch the prequels at anytime, right?

David A Behlman

Maybe one of the higher tier folks will use this idea!

William Hatton

I would like to watch the 5 hour version of this - before you cut the tangents. :P

Erin Nye

My grandmother organized a family trip for us all to go to Disney World, and all the girl cousins got to go to the Bibbity Bobbitty Boo Boutique. Because there was like six of us we had the place to ourselves and it was super fun! We did the princess dining afterwards too I think.  Looking back I feel bad for the boy cousins because I don't think they got to do anything special like that lol This was a really fun ramble, the Dumbo hat is so cute! Looking forward to the FNaF video!

Starlit Rain

I agree! I love it and wanna get into make up more this year

Munchy Lunchco

That Dumbo hat really compliments your eye colour and makeup. The overall look is honestly very cohesively beautiful. I was admiring it the whole 2.5 hours! It's honestly depressing/frustrating hearing about all the areas, rides and little attractions (like that cute little House of the Future) that were just straight up destroyed and trashed. It's all just so... wasteful.

Aimee W

woo! every time I go to deep clean something in my apartment someone's recently posted a patreon video for me to listen to. the stars align for me and me specifically

Angelica Sather Hodgetts

I think this is the video where you've said the most things I agreed with (well, I guess that makes sense considering the run time). I am CRAZY for the original astro orbiters (the Rocket Jets, or just the Rockets as I used to call them). That was my FAVORITE ride when I was single digits age, and it also helped me get over my fear of elevators. When I did my DCP at WDW in 2011 and I got to experience the original style rockets, oh my god, it was one of my favorite things in any park. It made me so nostalgic and happy every time. Fantastic stuff. I also had the same experience/memory that you have of the Rocket Rods, which I only rode once or twice (I was also not local to SoCal). The line was SUPER long (or it seemed that way, I know it was an over an hour) but the ride itself was pretty short, but we still thought it was fun, and it was exciting because it went through the inside of other rides (like...I wanna say the Star Tours queue? The stuff the people mover went through lol) Anyway, I hardcore agree with basically everything you said in this video, especially since so much of it had to do with Disneyland lol

Angelica Sather Hodgetts

Oh, and another thing I forgot to say, I too live here now, i live in Gardena, but I haven't been to Disneyland since 2018!!!! I thought when I moved here I was gonna have an annual pass and go all the time, but it's so expensive now, and parking is so expensive, it's just not how I thought it would be at all. Like I'm still looking forward to going again, I especially wanna see the new stuff you mentioned in Adventure Land, but like...it's gonna be so expensive, I'll probably never have an annual pass now.

Angelica Sather Hodgetts

Sorry, me again, hang on, I managed to remember that....yeah, I guess...when I finally got to go on the Rocket Jets that are still Rocket Jets, that must be when I was living in Japan 2012-2017, I think that's where they didn't become Astro Orbiters yet and that's what I'm thinking of. Man, I love Tokyo Disney.

Angelica Sather Hodgetts

Ok last time I swear, ok I disagree cause I finally finished watching the rest of what you were saying about Astro Orbiter and you don't like it. I like it! But I also disagree that it tilts you, I don't feel like it tilts you really and I also don't feel like it's operated by a foot lever, is it? It's like a big triangular handle that you pull up and down. I dunno. You don't like it, I like it, Dumbo is just like the less intense version of the Rockets for me. Tokyo Disney Sea also has a really good one that's Jasmine's Flying Carpets, that one is similar to Dumbo but it has a LOT of tilt, so you can control the up and down motion but then you can also control the tilt. Great stuff again from Japan

Evan Samanas

Surprised Disney+ didn’t make a list. I guess it was part of Disney having a bad year and rushing to close starcruiser. I’m genuinely curious how it has lost so much money. Is it all those expensive shows not generating subscribers? Are all non-Netflix streaming platforms performing this way? There’s a lot of really surface-level coverage that just blame cordcutters…it has to be more than that right

Brooklyn Elise

I am gen Z, and I have fallen for the loungefly craze. I only have like 5 of them, but even that many is kind of a lot lol

Brooklyn Elise

But I’m also local to the parks and I use them all

B Hair

😂 I can't get enough of that hat. The ears just flop around you shake your head. Best hat ever!!

Aimee W

oh my god. a mannequin nightclub. I need it. especially if it was burlesque or go-go dancer themed. even More so if it was a gay club/held drag shows.

Aimee W

seeing someone drunk and coming on to a mannequin in earnest would complete me

Lindsey Keefer

I recently went to Disneyland for the first time in years, so this was especially interesting to listen to! I tried the gray stuff because of your food review video :) also the idea of a generic future city theme park would be a dream for me. I really wish I could’ve seen Horizons, House of the Future, or the bucket tram thing!

Lindsey Keefer

I miss real veggie burgers too! There are so many different kinds, like black bean and quinoa. Even a mushroom burger would be preferable to one that tries to taste like meat :/

Ky

Does non Disney ones count? My mom got me a pusheen x hello kitty one for Christmas last year (I'm 34 ) and when Jenny said it would disintegrate I cried a little, it's my prized possession

jesse m

I was surprised when you said America Sings was shut down due to being old and not because a teenager got crushed to death in the revolving walls. the wiki said it reopened 3 days later after cleaning and a new carpet. disgusting

rachel

Jenny is like the NTSB for disney

funnyletter

"That Dumbo hat really compliments your eye colour" is both the most bananas compliment of all time AND completely true, and I love it.

Fiona V

There should at least be a "Jenny's choice" option every month! I'd always vote for it unless there was something I *really* wanted to see.

TheSlipperyNoodle

Honestly I’ve had a loungefly bag from like, 2017 and it’s fine. Lol I don’t know what’s happening to the ones Jenny has seen but it hasn’t happened to mine.

TheSlipperyNoodle

Hearing a Disney park be referred to as “most affordable” is wild lol coming from someone in the states. If you don’t already live in Florida or California, that’s like a several thousand dollar trip. Including hotels and travel. As a kid I never dreamed of going to Disney because I knew my family couldn’t afford it. And we were middle class income. So it’s not like we struggled THAT much. And that was twenty years ago. I imagine it’s far more expensive now.

TheSlipperyNoodle

Sometimes I think I’m the only one that enjoyed some of the Disney sequels. But I was a small kid when they came out so maybe it’s nostalgia blindness. (I will unironically stand behind the Lion King 2 tho. That one goes hard. Not nearly as good as the first but pretty good.)

SourInk

6 years vs 15 years is a huge difference

TheSlipperyNoodle

I don’t think it’s JUST Disney that has inaccurate wait times on their app. I went to kings island in October and used the app for the first time and in my experience, it was extremely inaccurate. Sometimes the app would tell you it would take an hour and you would walk past and see a small line. Or the opposite problem. Next time I go I don’t know if I’ll even use the app because I feel like I got on more rides not using it before than when I did use it.

Gleeman and Artist

Okay that story about the white water rapids ride grinding people up is something right out of final destination. o-o

Elise

It was a real shock when I heard about people from the states saving for YEARS to go to Disney and being so stressed about maximizing the fun once they got there etc. It makes the Genie + app and all the underwhelming park decisions even sadder to me and I sincerely hope that people will go somewhere else and have better holidays. ( I didn't make any calculation regarding inflation but right now an adult ticket at Disneyland Paris is 100 euros (without any discount). In the 90s my father's work would pay for more than half that ticket, and it would also pay for our tickets, which were cheaper because we were kids. While my dad paying 200 euros for one adult and three kids was expensive to us, it was definitely "affordable". We would go early in the morning, eat homemade sandwiches at the Jules Verne or Pinocchio restaurant, go to three or four rides, and buy a massive helium balloon at the end of the day before leaving. And for the rest of the holidays we'd just enjoy the high of the trip and watch balloon Donald deflate. All my friends who lived in the same council estate as me have a similar experience and it's kinda bleak that it's such a big part of our childhood but man, I'm glad it was there. )

Simi Parquette

I love those rapids rides so much and now I will tragically never ride one again but for all I know I was slated to drown on one and you have now helped me outwit fate so thank you Jenny for saving my life

Erin Dugan

obsessed with the star tours barbershop goose carcass

Prince

GASP Jenny spilling the autograph tea! (Also not me hunched over a photo mat with sharpies in different colors for a magical guest recovery)

Jen Canary

I really liked the live action Lady and the Tramp, so my heart broke a little with Jenny dissing it! 😸

IguanaDon

Michael Buffer wants his tagline back. You do wear the heck outta that hat, though.

Adam Ryan

The mammoth/elephant tangent ends with a cut back to Jenny in the Dumbo hat. Outstanding.

Isaac Malone

The only thing I would have added to the bad decisions list was the NBA Experience. They closed DisneyQuest for that... which was pretty dated and probably would have closed anyways. But still... the NBA Experience just baffled me. Was not surprised at all it only lasted two years.

Pendragon

I'm not on the Topic Selection Committee for the Ramble, but I always wonder if they're really naive and think, "I wonder what her opinion is on these regular issues that everyone talks about" or that they really have cracked the formula to get the more unexpected and whimsical ramifications of otherwise normal themes. Whatever the case may be, I am always looking forward to seeing the result. BTW, for me their biggest bad decision was to stop making 2D animated movies. I know it's old news, but I just can't move on. I'm forever sad.

Cecile

100% always down for another disney vlog

Cecile

honestly i wish they would take a step back and go full retro futurism on tomorrowland. i can't believe they haven't learned by now that chasing the future and constant updates are unmanageable

Jbash31

Jenny should make a video that ranks her top point guards in NBA history

PamperYamper

Catch me stepping onto the gullywhumper and I'm instantly thrown into the water and eaten by alligators

“I remember at the time” that Snow White was released, glad it’s canon that Jenny was there

I live in Chiba, where the Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea parks are. They're the only Disney parks I've visited so I'm glad to know they're considered the best by Jenny 😊.

The 2025 World Expo won't be in Tokyo, but in Osaka. However, Star Wars Celebration will be taking place in Chiba (which is a 1 hour train from Tokyo) in April 2025. I'm very excited about that!

Pranav Vishnu

Have you considered hiring an editor for more menial video tasks. U talked about blurring stranger's faces being a pain. An editor could do that leaving u time to do important stuff

Petie

Ship of Theseus really got me lol

Shaun Cheah

Honestly having Lion King 1½ be the Rosencrantz & Guildenstern to the original's Hamlet was such a masterstroke. Dig a tunnel, dig-a-dig-a tunnel...

Shaun Cheah

I can emphasize; her tweets on Onward (2020) were so devastating that I unfollowed not just her but also all the other two hundred or so accounts I'd been following on that site (it wasn't enough to just quit, I had to do something more deliberate but also personal; until writing this comment those 200 clicks were an action just for me), logged out, and never really looked back. Perhaps an overreaction but it was essentially the first film I watched after my dad died so I perhaps invested more emotionally into the movie than most would've. And in the end the site became X so perhaps it was a mercy that I was moved to leave so soon.

Shaun Cheah

That highschool Twilight video from way back was more than a parody; it was a confession.

Semilocon

Interesting, I didn't know about the "signing off" process. Kind of terrifying that Disney has trained employees that could effortlessly commit signature fraud, haha.

hana

A vlog would be a fun video!

Vlad

New video when queen

Rish Outfield

Agreed. The one time I took my niece to Disneyland, there was a long line for all the princesses, but absolutely no line for the Wicked Queen. My niece was seven at the time, and got to hang out with her, get pictures, and be tempted to "join the dark side" while the other kids stood in their line. Now, all these years later, there are thousands of kids that adore the villains rather than the heroes, so I doubt the situation would be the same.

Rish Outfield

I too got to go to Paris last year, and we went on Phantom Manor three times. Not at all crowded, except the damned Spider-man ride.

Dalton

Finding out that they closed the Great Movie Ride was such a surreal experience for me. I remember riding it twice when I was a kid. I grew up super sheltered so I’d never seen most of the movies that were being referenced, but my parents let me and my siblings go on it anyway. It felt like there was a whole world of cinema out there waiting for me once I was old enough to watch whatever movies I want. The Alien scene and the scene with all the Mummies with glowing n eyes scared the shit out of me too. I know for adults it probably was lame but as a kid it really did make me feel like I was experiencing the magic of movies for the first time.

Taryn Wyss

Princess dining exists at Disneyland! it’s at Napa Rose and it’s like Club 33 meal prices lmao they definitely need an option that’s not $130 per person

Amie Greene

With the switch from Great Movie Ride to Mikey and Minnie’s, the original movie animatronics were crumbling, no one was riding it, and I heard there were issues with keeping things up to code. I LOVED GMR but it was probably time. Also the ride vehicles are new, not recycled

purplehayes

Autograph books were so fun as a kid. My sister and I got them when we went as kids and it's one of the things I remember the most. We got a ton of characters and we even got the waitress from the restaurant we went to after the park to sign it. It's such a key part of that memory that I can't imagine that day without it.

Candice

Yes to more vlogs please! As a Brit who can't visit these places, I absolutely love seeing them vicariously, especially through expert eyes. (I've watched the Starcruiser footage more times than I care to admit!)

Jantonaitis

I looked it up after reading your comment and this story about Thunder River Rapids was as nightmarish as Jenny described.

Nel Meyrink

You're the expert on your business, but I'm curious why you've chosen not to any of your editing? Especially with regards to the people-blurring, which sounds really tedious and frustrating. (Haven't watch the ramble yet, just a comment in response to what you've said in your last couple of rambles)

Josh Hopkins

Hey come on where is the Star Wars video. No main channel videos since November of 2022.

Jantonaitis

It's weird because this one would have been fine as main channel and just do something shorter for the ramble. Or put one of those evermore videos in main channel.

Freyja Bills

I feel like the mickey mouse club was also a strong progenitor of hannah montana teen stars

Jenna Stoddard

Your love for sunny eclipse led to me FORCING my family to sit by him when we got dinner at the starlight cafe. I don't think they were as taken but I def appreciated him more

T. Fazekas

Sassy Line Jenny is my favorite Jenny :)

Brodie

The dreamworld river ride incident has ensured I will never go on one a wet ride again.

Derick Gadd

Despite you "not being an engineer" that's basically how I would have described it too, being one :) Takes out the feeling of lateral (sideways) forces for both the passengers and the car, including where the wheels are making contact so they aren't inclined to lose traction from turning and slip sideways.

Derick Gadd

Ok there is way more engineering talk later in this video, I should offer consulting services.. 😂 jk you have good instincts!

Paschal & Di

Pleasure Island's 8-Trax & Adventurer Club were the GREATEST!

Maus

Never feel bad about long rambles, I genuinely love hearing your takes on theme park stuff especially as a prop/practical effect enthusiast myself. Plus long videos are great to watch while doing needlework or crochet :P

Ashley

The solution to the lounge fly bag problem is the 5 figure pokemon bag from Fendi lol.

Kate Lorio

Hi Jenny! I'm from New orleans, and our local newspaper recently published an article with updates about splash mountain. They confirmed they will still have a fair amount of animatronics, including a zydeco band of swamp critters. As well as multiple tianas and a Louis the Alligator. I hope this makes you feel a little better!

Kate Lorio

Forgot to add, they've done a ton of research in nola for the ride, and are collaborating with local artists and musicians for it. I'm optimistic about how lovingly made it will be.

Eric MacMillan

Rewatching this, the tangent about the Jungle Cruise elephant should be its own public video, or at least a detailed twitter thread...its such a cool discovery, non-paying Jenny fans should hear about it!

Helen Chance

‘Ear, ‘ear!! Thanks for the long ramble and so many cool points!

Maya Singh Sharkey

Can attest as a 1998 kid that Gen Z is into loungeflys, just not as much as millennials

Ky

I have one lounge fly bag that I got for Christmas and it's my most treasured possession, it's hanging on my wall cause I'm too scared to take it anywhere, when Jenny said it would disintegrate I cried. Better start using it I guess

Steven Clark

Rewatching this. That first entry on the neutral list, Disney+ Marvel shows, stood out to me this time because I just tried to watch their new show, Echo, and halfway through the first episode I had to give up. The pacing and storytelling were so bad that it felt like a recap of a previous season of television I hadn't seen, and then I looked it up and it turned out that's exactly what it was. This was a character from the Hawkeye show, and they just assumed that I'd already watched the Hawkeye show, but also that I needed a recap, but not one that properly explained anything.

Miles Proctor

The river rapid rides keep killing people too the last one was in 2021 in the US I believe (not American so I don’t remember what park I don’t think it was a big franchise park) but the Dreamworld incident was by far the worst because there were two young kids who survived (not a bad thing) but saw it kill their family (the bad thing)

Miles Proctor

Also drastic shift in tone but I like to put videos on while I craft and this video was eighteen loom bracelets long

Joe Bloe

I didn't mind the first two episodes of Echo. But once you get there you realise she has no plan. She has a goal and she's doing stuff but there's sort of no connection between the stuff and the goal. There's also no connection to the supernatural element they introduce beyond, well, she's native american. Nothing triggers it happening at that particular time or place, it just happens. Everything just feels like it could have connected to something but didn't.

Alexandria Ritz

Jenny don't feel bad about your loungefly collection, Ive seen people with a room full

Lily

those elote almonds are so good

Captain Langosta AKA The Yellow Dart AKA Kyle

What a wild and wonderful journey that elephant had, starting out as a trapped mammoth, coming into its own as a stretching elephant, and now enjoying a comfy retirement as a flappy-floppy Dumbo hat.

muddlewait

“Steampunk Santa Claus” is a perfect way to describe Dreamfinder. And I am so crushed to hear that you never got to ride the original Journey Into Imagination. I hope you get your wish and they make it again, and better.

ohgodthepandas

Current DLR CM in a role where I see a lot of feedback from Guests and every single thing you have to say about Genie+ is incredibly accurate. I hate that “service” so much and have only seen it trickle down to further degradation in the experience for Guests and CMs alike, tbh. (Would absolutely love to see a Disneyland Vlog btw)

Mandi Coffey

Fun fact: when I was being trained for guest show operations for Fantasmic at Disneyland, they told me that they always have tetanus shots at the ready for every show. Because if any performers need to jump in the water to exit the show if something goes wrong, they need to be immediately checked for tetanus because of the amount of metal stuff in the water. So yeah falling in that nasty water would be terrifying.

Mikayla

This fr. If it was 8 hours of tangents of whatever she wanted to talk about I'd watch it, happily.

Qui-Gon Slut

I knew exactly what h&m backpack you were talking about before you showed the picture, that shit lasted me FOREVER. and then it started shedding constantly! if I bring it out now, it leaves little black faux leather pieces everywhere. it was my go-to.

Mina

Yup Timberlake, Aguillerra & Britney

Mina

They can pry my mini backpack from my cold, dead millennial hands. I feel too old to be rocking loungeflys but I still like my normal black fake leather one

Prof. Merkwuerdig

Hey Jenny, I missed you so much! Tought you where gone till a friendly youtube viewer directed me to your patreon. 2024 is saved :)

Lucy Ackerman

My wife says your makeup is very pretty in this video (and I think so too 😄)!

Brian

I loved the video as always Jenny although the ears were indeed very distracting lol

Denryuu3

It might be annoying for you for these to get really long but as a viewer I love it. I could listen to you talk forever, you have great perspective

dayy_dreamz

you’re the first person i’ve subscribed to patreon on, and i’m loving it so far! especially the long videos haha. i’d love to see another disneyland vlog, i eat those up lol also i am never riding a river rapids ride again that’s terrifying!

Marina Nania

If you ever do go to Disneyland Paris make sure to check out Au Chalet de la Marionnette! I’ve never been to the Village Haus but from the pictures it does look very similar.

Lauren M

any word on the feb ramble? i feel annoying for asking but it seems like they’ve been coming out later and later in the month.

venom

are we not getting a february patreon video, or did i miss something? hope all is well!

Ky

I think Jenny is overseas so it might be delayed this month

Mel Vitta

jeez now you're making me think of the crazy alternate reality where Disney delays TROS by six months, can't release it due to the pandemic, continues working on it for another year, and it ends up becoming the event movie to end all event movies by letting the anticipation build until end of 2021 when they release the film in theaters as a way of inaugurating Disney films' return to theaters after the pandemic. Imagine if it was the exact same film, that'd be so bad. But if they used the time well and made it a better film, it could have saved so much and Star Wars would still be a great franchise that I actually care about.

Ravvick Hipnot

There's still time, including an extra day of February this year!

Audrey lopata

Watching the “making of” videos for TROS it’s clear that a crazy amount of love/work/talent etc. went into it (all the stuff about the John Williams cameo is really lovely). But then the movie was sunk by truly awful story decisions. So, I also wonder if another year and a half could have course corrected that nonsense?

helen sinning

The jaystation part of the video made me cry laughing. A few times I had to pause the video, like to collect myself. then I'd notice the sarcophagus in the corner and lose my shit all over again lolll

d0gm0nster

I think this comment is under the wrong post accidentally but I fully agree. I think the sarcophagus added something special.

Starlit Rain

i loved this because im german XD

wonderfuljoey23

Such an amazing video that only us get to see it feels wild.

Maria Gomez

So I got to get on the Treehouse thingy at Disneyland and it's cute. My sister doesn't like it as much without the Tarzan stuff but I think it's still fun The only problem is that they don't have an arrow for ppl on which staircase to take up bc then you have ppl having to squeeze past each other on a thin as heck stairway bc someone went up instead of down. Ya can't assume ppl are gonna know which is the right staircase to take

Maria Gomez

Im always stating at her eyeliner bc it always looks so perfect

Maria Gomez

Fret not Jenny, the zoomers like disney loungefly. I'm 23 but I also have younger cousins who like em too

Lisa

Not to be rude but why do so many people comment things like this? Jenny’s been open in the past about some of her struggles with getting content out and it just seems unnecessary. I’m sure there’s a reason it’s delayed - I can’t imagine that Jenny is just twiddling her thumbs and waiting for enough people to remind her to post.

robin birdleirdle

The Thunder River Rapids accent was so culturally traumatic as an Australian, we don't have a huge theme park industry so even without the sheer horror of that accident it was shocking to find out there was a death on a ride. They thought the victims were from my city for a few days - and we don't have that many people, so most people are at 3 degrees of separation at most. I remember sitting up at night wondering if it was someone I knew.

sawyer tsaregorodtseva

my dad has an entire spreadsheet that lays out everything that matters in the MCU timeline and he is the person who is consuming every part of it. right now he's watching spectacular spiderman and he's starting the MCU over but with x-men this time

You missed nothing. It sucked so bad it wasn’t worth getting rid of the peoplemover for.

I wasn't really a Disney kid my family wasn't the kind that could/wanted to go all the time despite living in Cali but as you're talking about some of the best experiences and how kids are affected by them I think it's dawning on me how important Disney's widespread focus on making children feel special and important for at least small amounts of time is. When I was in 3rd grade a family friend offered to pay for and take me to New York for a week or so and we went to the Disney store in Times Square. While checking out I mentioned to the cashier lady that for my school talent show that year I had sung 'Do You Wanna Build a Snowman' and she got over the intercom and announced my name and what I had done to the entire store and the whole place cheered for me it is like, one of my best memories from an already memorable trip and it's the seemingly small day to day things like that that manage to make Disneys image perpetually soft and affectionate in my head despite me not really caring for any of the decisions they make nowadays.

air_infector

oh my god I ALWAYS mention Cassandra and the Trojan War and say I feel like her (bc I have so much anxiety about so many different things, obviously some of them are bound to come true and when they do i feel like her LOL) and everyone always looks at me like ??? and asks who she is and i have to explain it over and over again

air_infector

but as soon as she mentioned the log flume ride at the end i was like oh god it's one of those..... they are so dangerous and it sucks bc they were always my favorite as a kid bc i love swimming and waterslides but for the love of god they need to be outlawed. they are sososososo dangerous. i wish more people knew so they could be safer

Markus D

I was going to say! I don't remember many of the Disney sequels I watched, but The Lion King 2 is genuinely good, IMO. At worst, it has some animation that's not stellar (I remember some parts of the fire scene looking bad, for instance. I think maybe the fire itself was CGI?) but the story itself is alright and I like most of the songs. "My Lullaby" is legit like, the darkest Disney villain song and I appreciate that.

Markus D

You got me all excited thinking there was some theme-park-based creator that's got some similar vibes to Jenny and it turns out that this guy is a Minecraft Youtuber? Like, maybe he talks about that stuff, but I'm not watching some guy play Minecraft...

TheSlipperyNoodle

I mean, yeah but mine doesn’t look worn out at all. I don’t know what other people are doing to theirs to make it look like that.

Sloan

Hey! Just an FYI, most people prefer the term “indigenous” :)

Richard R.

What was the term used? I missed it. Maybe Natives?

Daisy Frabell

Indigenous is always good, but I do think ‘native folks’ is used just as much in the area currently called continental US. Of course, if this is meant to be a jungle, it’s probably a different part of Turtle Island!

TalkieSoundBox

That rant on loungefly is what I've been screaming for literal years. PLEATHER IS GARBAGE! it's landfill straight off the assembly line and paying a high price for it is pointless. Leather wears, pleather tears!

Gabby

Seriously I was so obsessed with the Disney fairies growing up, I would re-read the books and re-Watch the movies obsessively

Quinton Walker

Amazing video. I’m surprised tho you didn’t add “destroying the already shaky integrity of the Star Wars franchise” to the worst decisions 😂

Lars Mario | art + books

I cannot believe that Jenny references Michael Eisner with „that CEO of that time“! 😅 I love Eisner. Jenny, READ the book „Disney War“, which covers all (!) management insights from the Disney late 80s through the Renaissance until the downfall of Eisner in the 2000s! 🍹👍🏼

Sarah Lacy

Oh my Gods! Same! I have anxiety and ADHD, so I spend most of my time worrying about possible problems but I also have really great pattern recognition skills which means a lot of the time I’m correct, but I’m not believed until it’s too late to avoid the bad thing. I’ve explained countless times how I feel like Cassandra-to the same people and every time its like they’ve had their memory wiped. The Gods must truly enjoying my futile attempts at avoiding uncomfortable outcomes :p

LKB

I went on the Astro Orbiter as a kid when it was on top of the Peoplemover building! It was exactly like you describe riding it, but now add a crippling fear of heights lmfao. Only time I ever rode it, I do miss how it looked on the Tomorrowland skyline, and the Peoplemover era of Tomorrowland in general.

LKB

Nope.

LKB

OMG do you have a link or a name I can google?

Kareena Parks

I never did the autograph thing as a kid but recently (last summer) took my two kids and thought ok let’s do it! Got them autograph books and literally not a single character would sign, we kept trying and getting rejected. The only one was Elsa in California Adventures when we lined up to meet a surprise 1 of 3 characters from Frozen (Elsa, Anna, or Olaf). Big disappointment to my kids as a first visit. I wouldn’t have bothered if I knew it would be a major let down.

Stu Hand

The Great Movie ride getting hijacked halfway through was such a good idea, I really loved that ride.

notacrazyperson

In Disneyland Paris, the « Cabane des Robinson » is still Robinson themed, running and a fun treehouse even though not a kid has known what a « Swiss Robinson » even is for 25 years and the park is barely older than that. I have vivid memories of telling my mom « but, wasnt Crusoe alone ? » and her going « yeah, its about another set of robinson from a show from when i was very small »

notacrazyperson

I have no idea why, upon opening disneyland paris, THIS was one of the attractions they decided to import ?

Wartortle

The conclusion of this video was a brilliant piece of foreshadowing.

izzsegu

The Disneyland Paris India Jones rollercoaster gave my entire family back pain for the rest of our France trip

Martin

I was in the Tokyo Disneyland around a month ago, and the Jungle Cruise there still has people, including the shrunken heads guy, and I was there very much like... are you ALLOWED to do that?!

Lapsedfanmarv

I perked up when you were about to explain why Marvel campus sucked but you skimmed over it :(

Mariana Trench

I have such a faint memory of being on I think the Figment ride in 2002, I would have been 4, and it breaking down? I can remember we all had to get out of the cars and walk out, but this bit of the ride all the furniture was on the ceiling? I could be completely wrong, since this was 22 years ago but it's ringing bells

lsaddy

I was OBSESSED with swiss family robinson as a kid in the early 2000s (checked the VHS tape out of the library like a hundred times), my parents really built up getting to see the treehouse at disneyland and i was so fucking disappointed when I found out it was now Tarzan's Treehouse because kids didn't know the movie anymore, lmao

lsaddy

also fun fact: their last name isn't Robinson. The original title of the book was "A Swiss Family Have a Robinson Crusoe-Like Experience", which got mercifully shortened

Fernando

about the dangeous "rafting-style" rides mentioned at the end of the video: circa 2009, my family rode one of these at Blizzard Beach in Disney World (after some googling, I believe the ride is called Teamboat Springs), and my younger sister jumped off the raft near the end of the ride because she thought she'd be able to swim in the water. She was trapped under the raft and thought she was going to drown. Thankfully no permanent injuries, although her legs got seriously scratched up with a lot of blood. My parents were obviously completely terrified. It was a long time ago and I was young so my recollection is foggy but I believe the cast members were helpful and supportive even though it was obviously entirely my sister's fault. Looking back after Jenny's video, wow, I'm glad nothing more serious happened...

Brenna Walton

That’s so scary! I’m glad your sister is okay. The kind of ride Jenny is referring to is a little different however. It’s not a water slide, it’s more of a theme park kind of water ride. The reason it’s so dangerous is bc if that kind of raft capsizes, folks are actually strapped into the raft, so it’s nearly impossible to get out.

Natalie Stromberg

I think another thing about the OBSERVATRON besides just maintenance is that when it’s moving it looks like a cool ride so people were always asking where the line was for it. Then you’d be like oh, yeah that’s not a ride it’s just a cool moving thing to look at. People would be bummed because it looked cooler and more fun than Astro Orbiters to begin with.

jeffsl

While some fault lies with your sister, I'd say a lot is still with the safety people. When a lot of kids are going to be using your thing, you need to assume they'll do the stupidest things possible.

Keegan Schaner

It’s pointless but I’m holding out hope that they’re saving the universe of energy dino’s for the new test track redo . It could work SO well. The ride starts out with us seeing where fossil fuels come from and then the rest of the ride is basically world of motion fused with test track. So basically us going through time seeing how we’ve advanced in transportation while speeding and dodging things.

Chris Cragnotti

Hi Jenny. Love you, love your videos! Two comments/opposing views from this video. The caveat being that they are from the perspective of a former cast member in both the New Orleans/Critter Country Attractions Department and the Character Department. I realize that you were likely giving your perspective from the point of view of a guest but here goes anyway. 1) THE CLOSING OF THE MIKE FINK KEEL BOATS: I get what you’re saying about a ride that has the potential to seriously injure people but pretty much any ride has that potential (i was working splash mountain one night when the logs were dispatched too soon - operator error - and a kid fell down in between two moving logs in the station and was run over by one of them. I believe he was ultimately ok but did sustain a broken leg. It was super scary and could have been much worse). I worked the Keel Boats and it takes some serious operator error to capsize a keel boat so I wouldn’t say it was the rides fault that that happened. The reason it is sad that that ride was closed is because of the opportunity that ride presented to cast members, particularly to lower tenured cast members. Arguably the best ride to work on that side of the park are the rafts to Tom Sawyer Island. Raft shifts are always only day time shifts and they’re out in the sunshine on the river and it’s a pretty low key but still fun experience driving the rafts because they aren’t on a track and each trip is somewhat unique. The fun is in using your skills to create a perfectly smooth, bumpless landing at the dock on the other side. Practicing over and over til you get it just right. It’s such a fun day out on the river. Because this is such a great ride to operate, because it does not take very many cast members to work it and because the ride does not go into the evening (limiting the number of available shifts) it is a very hard ride for a lower seniority cast member to ever get placed on, let alone even trained on. Well, back in the day, due to the proximity of the Keel Boat dock to the Raft Dock, all Keel Boat cast members automatically also got trained on the rafts so that in an “emergency” a keel boat driver could be pulled down to the raft dock to step in if needed. Also back in the day cast members would pick their summer schedules, so everyone would be called to the office to select the ride(s) and shifts they wanted to have for the 10 or so weeks of summer. This draft was done in order of seniority. All the raft shifts went very fast and you could not pick a ride you weren’t already trained on. The exception to that rule was the Mike Fink Keel Boats because that ride rarely operated in the off season and consequently there were never very many guys (yes only boys worked that ride) trained on that ride so that was one ride a cast member could select for their summer draft without having already been trained on it. This was a back door, line cutting opportunity to get the rafts added to your job knowledge and once a ride was added to your job knowledge you could then be scheduled on it forever! Obviously I took advantage of this opportunity. The keel boats themselves were also a fun ride to work cuz they too were not on a track which made them fun to drive but yes also a deathtrap. AUTOGRAPH BOOKS: so I was a character department cast member in the mid-1990’s, before cell phone cameras and before the now more organized and civilized way of approaching characters using an organized line. Back then we would walk onstage and just get swamped by guests, there was no accompanying cast member there to keep things organized and orderly, unless perhaps you were with a fellow character who could speak but even then guests were pushy and rude, mostly to each other. The reason the books were bad was because it made parents lazy. Instead of trying to ensure they got a photo with the characters they would push their kids in with their book to get a signature and that was it. I don’t really blame them I guess cuz it was really hard to get a good photo when there was just a pile of people in front of the character. So you’d look down at a sea of books in front of you and struggle, with limited eye sight and sometimes without an opposable thumb and have to manage to grab a book, scratch a signature across a page and hand it back, hopefully to the right kid, over and over again. Disney spends thousands of dollars on these costumes and training for this sort of experience and it had been reduced to this mad quest to fill the pages of this stupid book. Some moms were super cute and organized about it, making sure to skip every other page so they could glue in the printed photo of their kid with the corresponding character and we did the best we could to accommodate the little kids who just wanted a hug and a photo but I’m sure you can imagine how annoying and demanding and inconsiderate some kids could get when all they wanted to do was complete the task at hand. Things are different now that most characters have someone nearby ensuring that each guest gets their own unique visit but it wasn’t always that way. I will say that being able to roam free in an area (versus stuck up against a wall with a line stretching 20 people deep) did also have it’s benefits and made for a more playful and fun experience on days that weren’t packed with people but those damn books were - and maybe still are for some characters like Winnie the Pooh who has only a paw to write with - quite a menace.

Henry O'Brien

I think you used the term "sunk cost" correctly since the building cost money and was also really soggy.

Abigail Duerksen

It was probably a bad decision to abandon that one amusement park they bought. Mowgli's Palace. They spent so much money only to leave all that land......... ABANDONED BY DISNEY 👻👻👻

Theresa

I remember Rocket Rods! I went to Disneyland in 1998 with my dad and cousin and we all really liked it--my dad even said it was his favorite ride. It's too bad it wasn't sustainable, but I guess now I'm extra grateful I got to ride it.

Penny Cain

I LOVE your Orange Bird loungefly. He’s so cute!

notgerardway

damn wtf?! 💀💀 i would have assumed that, while in guest relations its optional, it is required as a character actor to learn the signatures of characters you will be playing??? that sucks

Eric Piche

Pretty sure the OLC is funded by the Japanese Government. Might be wrong. Not sure how I'd feel if America was subsidizing Disneyland.

Clover

The best thing Disney ever did was skippy. The worst thing they ever did was make him suffer…

I’ve never heard of that stuff happening in river rapids rides and now I’ll never go on Kali River Rapids again cause it’s not worth it.

Helena Young

only just started the video but im obsessed with ur dumbo hat!!!!

Erica McMillan

You read that book and you still love Eisner??? What about the insane way he would treat people, especially Michael Ovitz andJeffrey Katzenberg?

Firiel Gardner

I know this is a pretty old comment, but I watched the video and it was really interesting! I'm not a professional historian but someone who really loves history and thinks how we teach it matters. Thanks for the recommendation!

Britney Paterson

I have such a vivid memory of going on the rocket racer ride with my aunt and we got stuck by the window looking into the restaurant for like an hour (at least it felt that long - I was like 9). My aunt was SO MAD and I just remember her flailing around trying to get peoples attention in the restaurant (no idea what her goal was lol). And when we finally started moving again we got stuck again over autotopia and my cousins riding under us laughing at my still raging aunt lol.

This is a billion years late but I was begging my family members this afternoon to remember the Frontierland fry cart and no one did. And then Jenny mentioned it in this video!

Jenny G.

I'm seeing this extremely belatedly, but re: the Disney/Pixar merger: My personal favorite wrinkle in the initial falling out between those companies, before it all got smoothed over later, was that Eisner made the galaxy-brained move of pissing off Steve Jobs (then Pixar's owner) about something else entirely. Eisner had testified to, as I recall, a Senate committee, basically about copyright and protecting IPs -- Disney's most dearly held pet issue, of course -- but specifically called out Apple's "rip, mix, burn" campaign that was going on at the time about ripping music off CDs and making your own mixes. This, as I'm sure you can imagine, did NOT go over well with, y'know, one of his most important business partners. ...oops.

It’s like a chemical thing that happens to the bag’s components. It depends, but a lot of pleathery material has an undefined shelf life, and no matter whether you took care of it, never touched it, or wore it out, the material just stops working one day. Most of the time, becoming crumbly/flaky/etc. Shoe sole rubber, bags, you name it. That’s what they’re talking about with 6 vs 15 years because it’s not really anyone’s fault.

In 2009 I went to Disney World on a trip with my high school marching band. My friends and I rode the movie ride, and when we got to the Casablanca scene, the animatronics were moving, but the audio wasn’t working. The cast member in our vehicle (a boat, I think?) did some great improv that was like ‘so, fun fact, most people don’t know this, but Casablanca was originally a silent film!’ So, shout out to all of the cast members, who are the true spirit of Disney.

Vital Vector

The audio animatronics really are noteworthy. To this day, I still enjoy the Enchanted Tiki Room and the Carousel of Progress. Both attractions from the early 1960s that still hold up well.

Vital Vector

I had no idea the Star Tours robots were previously singing geese! That is so trippy! That also explains the unusually long necks of the robots. My mind is blown!

Vital Vector

Seeing the girls in the park that have done the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is kind of amazing. I was standing in line (naturally) next to a family and their 10-year-old daughter got the full treatment, head-to-toe princess. Of course I complimented her on her outfit, but I was mesmerized by her hair. They did indeed do that tight bun on top of her head and it looked like each strand of hair had been measured and styled to within an atom of perfection. Crazy expensive, but Disney delivered.

Vital Vector

I had the pleasure of visiting the Magic Kingdom at Disney World in 1975. I did ride Mike Fink's Keel Boats multiple times. They did a LOT of funny banter on that ride, similar to Jungle Cruise. "Be careful entering through the windows. If you hit your head you'll experience Window Panes!" and on and on. On a side note, I also experienced Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes which are also long gone. Now of course, they are taking out The Rivers of America, along with Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat altogether.

Vital Vector

I keep waiting to see if Disney World will experience a backlash due to all the nickel-and-diming they are doing. Especially as you mentioned, the blood sucking vampire known as Genie+. As far as I can tell, Disney continues to rake in millions. I think the anti-American sentiment developing around the world here in 2025 will have a bigger impact on attendance than Disney's policy of gouging every dollar they can out of each guest.

The Alienated Librarian

Omg Jenny They are SWISS lmao ...As I was typing that I saw you did address it But I feel like you deserve to be told again (Ps the mammoth thing blew my mind, pls don't think we don't care about theme parks or animatronics because I'm pretty sure it's why a lot of us are even here)

Tayen

We, animation artists, have felt quite sad about Disney’s shackles on Pixar. Many of us (including friends of mine who are directors at Pixar & Disney) were excited for their contract with Disney to be up, when they were preparing to make far more creative and unique films. We see Pixar has having saved Disney, since Disney’s 3D films were awful. But being tied to the requirements that Disney puts on Pixar, they’ve been limited. And now, Pixar films are very different from how they began. I believe Pixar would’ve grown to become more innovative and beautiful without Disney. It’s heartbreaking.

Lindsey Keefer

I’d forgotten how good this one is! It kept me riveted on a long drive even though I’d watched it before. I always think about the banked turns!

The Latter Day Autist

omg you're so right about the absurdity of building a land (area of a park) for Star Wars. It would have so much cooler (and $$$er) to build a whole Star Wars park with multiple lands (areas), each one themed after one planet. Maybe they could design the lands so they could be easily rethemed as regions of America. Like, Tatooine is a desert planet. Death Valley. Hoth is an ice planet. Alaska! Coruscant is an endless city. New York, I guess? Endor... idk, maybe that would be this park's fantasyland... the vast forest that America would be like if we hadn't ruined it.

Frankie Gallagher

God even the name is so sad. Like i like school and learning dont get me wrong but "campus" is by far the most mundane word they could've used to describe it! Even the most beautiful campus in the world gets old once you've been forced to sprint across all the nice but pointless landscape just to get to your classes that are in for the same major and are 10 minutes apart but also they put them in two different buildings

Frankie Gallagher

Maybe they mean they love him as a spectacle; Eisner is a lot of things, but the man's never boring

watery hot chocolate

my friend worked at mountain creek for two seasons and the shady bankruptcy stuff is 100% true

kelly m

i agree that the closure of the star cruiser was premature and probably so they could claim it on their taxes, however i do think if they had kept it open while people knew it was closing it probably would have gotten a lot of coverage from the angle of "here's why this failed" which would have been embarrassing for them so that would have been another benefit of closing it as soon as they decided it wasn't worth it

Frankie Gallagher

They did end up getting an embarrassing amount of coverage in that vein anyway thanks to Jenny's video anyway... but i suppose in that alternate universe, she would've made a different video about it?

Frankie Gallagher

think the biggest difference it makes is going to take a long time to manifest. Defunctland's Fastpass video convinced me that the people hit hardest by genie+ are the guests that only go rarely, on a once-in-a-lifetime trip. They go, have an okay time, spend a frightening amount of money, and never become repeat visitors. That's the market that Disney is juicing, and those people take a lot longer to catch on since they don't watch theme park youtube videos to fall asleep lol Eventually negative word of mouth and the State of People's Wallets will cause attendance to stagnate or dip, but that's a decade out at least.

Frankie Gallagher

Tbh i think jenny just has such strong thalassophobia it doesn't actually matter to her how much the cast members liked running the boats lol

kelly m

sure but at least a bunch of reporters weren't wandering around the star cruiser looking for flaws, i was thinking more along those lines
