I voted for the Hallmark video but I don't think there's a lot of material to work with there. All Hallmark relationship arcs are exactly the same -- meet cute, they hate each other, they are forced to work together, they eventually fall in love, a misunderstanding happens, and then they end up together.

I dont think you should comply with the people who try to gamify the system. You do this because this is how you want to provide a benefit. If people want to take advantage of your graces, they can get out. You did two topics because you felt pressured to, but then people took advantage of it. Personally, I think that the polls should stay multi-option but blind. This is so silly. People are clearly gaming the numbers (what a weird thing to do). I don't think it's a big deal to turn that off.

Yeah, I wonder if having the votes visible also discourages people from voting for other choices as well, just choosing to vote among what is already in the lead. I think the visibility worked when the Patreon was smaller, but I think the compulsion is too strong to make the numbers match. Also, options cannot recover from being hundreds of points behind. Ranked choice voting would be a great option if Patreon had it.

If people can't behave then blind voting is probably the best option. It's unfortunate because it is nice to be able to vote for my preference in a close race, but if people are gaming it this obviously then clearly something has to be done.

In theory multi-choice is a great option because you can choose all options that interest you. So you are more likely to get a poll result more people are at least content with. But as long as you see other votes, you are influenced. I certainly have voted for ramble topics I wasn't really interested in but the vote numbers convinced me I should be. Finding out that some of the topics are being gamed has annoyed me, tbh. There are ones that I would have voted for but they have hardly any votes, so I don't bother. I think it would be worth trailing blind votes to see if it makes a difference.

Just recently upgraded my membership to include polls so I don't know how this poll has gone since it was posted or if people are indeed gaming the system in some way here (the comments seem to imply there is indeed something fishy but, can't confirm). I just want the Pokemon Live one to win out of the current runners because it feels the most on brand for Jenny, because it's something extremely weird and obscure and just looking over the basic information it feels like such a wild weird fascinating thing, it seems like it would be a really fun video to make and watch both. My initial first vote, before I saw where the current tallies like, was for the Evermore novellas, and it's a shame it doesn't have a chance, though I can understand why people might want a pause from Evermore related videos since it's kind of a trilogy now and there's a lot of it. Like, I personally can't get enough of them and I keep rewatching all the others, but I get it. I just feel like there's a lot of gold to mine there with just the insane convolutedness and drama of Evermore storylines, and it's a good-ol'-fashioned bad book reading! I hope it pops up again at some point, it has potential.

I will admit that I changed my vote. But I did it in good faith. My original vote for pokemon stage musical was genuine because I enjoy her analysis of weird productions. Upon further consideration I decided that it would be more entertaining to hear her opinions on dysfunctional made up relationships. Jenny excels at seeing the underlying mechanics in poorly thought out TV/Movie relationships.

I like having the user-suggested topics, and voting for them, but I also think Jenny should not have to adhere to the results. Use them as a guide to see what people are interested in, but I’d MUCH rather see Jenny ramble about something she’s passionate about (MLP, bad media, theme parks, etc) than to shrug and say, “Well, I don’t know what to say about this, but here goes….” Just rewatch the “The Applejack Problem” video to see what I mean! (It’s on her main channel, but it’s one of my favorites that feels like a ramble.) (This would also eliminate the problem of people gaming the voting system, because voting would be to express a preference, not to force a winner.)

This isnt related to anything but I am actually really curious to hear Jenny's thoughts on Netflix docuseries "The Program". It is about the troubled teen industry, which is a really interesting thing to make a documentary about. But the actual documentary itself is framed in such an almost silly way i.e. obviously fake graffitti and anecdotal personal accounts of what happened. Idk its just an interesting thing that I think is worth dicussing

Right now it's between Pokémon Live and Hallmark movie relationships. I voted for Pokémon Live and haven't changed my vote since this was first posted, but I would 100% enjoy either of them. If one truly isn't ahead by a few votes, I say that Jenny just picks the one she feels like doing more.

I'm not really sure how one subgroup of people gaming the votes is fun for anyone except people in that group. Jenny said in her video that some people admitted they were gaming the votes for topics they weren't even interested in. Again, not sure how that's fun for anyone else. Especially now that Jenny is aware of it and is worried about it...that's not fun for her, it's just making more work for her.
