Hello my fantastic friends!

Here's the new Hot Wheels diorama, and there's a few things special about this one!

So i suggest you read carefuly the present post, because a lot of info is contained in the text below!

Ok, let's start this with the usual stuff!

-The design is almost support free. You will need a few supports on the gas stationbuilding. Use tree supports, on build plate only. For the bambulab owners, the 3mffile is already set with the tree supports by object for the building.

-All the other parts are support free, and they are placed in the right orientation forprinting.

-You will need (7x) m3 x 10mm screws for this model.

-This project is printable with any type of 3d printer, you don't need a multicolorprinter to do it. Multicolor parts are printed with color changes at the right layer, soany printer can do it.

-For the 7 eleven logo, there's two versions of the logo; one made for color changesat the right layer, and another one painted for the Bambulab owners.

NOW WHAT'S DIFFERENT?

In my continual quest to find the perfect lighting, i have used for this one two different types of lighting that i've never used before.

NOTE: This is only a suggestion.  Feel free to use you favorite lighting if you prefer.

The first one is the flexible COB led strip. The main advantage of this one, is the uniformity of the lighting compared to a regular LED strip. Looks more like a neon, the lighting is more realistic and evenly spread through the diorama.

The second one, is an EL wire (electroluminescent wire) also called neon EL wire. They are only 2.2mm in diameter and they are perfect to create the look of a business neon light. You can see it in the pictures, its the little green strip around the gas station roof.

I will include the links of the products i have used at the bottom of this post, and all the required stuff like connectors and wires. Anybody can do this, because NO soldering is involved at all! Super easy.

Complete instructions for assembly are included.

Complete instructions for the COB led strip also included.

Complete instructions for the EL wire included too.

YOU CAN BUILD THIS DIORAMA IN THREE VERSIONS:

-Regular version. Not lighted. No need to buy the COB strip or the EL wire (In this case, use the green strip part for the roof instead of the EL wire.

-Half lighted: Use only the COB Led strip. Again, for this one too, use the green strip to replace the EL wire.

-Full lighted: Complete build, including the two light sources.

REGARDING THE MULTICOLOR PARTS:

-A document is included in the folder with all the color changes detailed by parts. So it should be really easy to print them.

If you are not familiar with color changes send me a private message and i will help you with this.

NOTE FOR THOSE WHO ARE SELLING THE DIORAMA:

Because of the two different light sources, you may want to sell the Half lighted or the regular version. The half lighted version gives a nice results without having the two power packs at the back. The version with the EL wire is intended for people who are making the diorama for themselves and doesnt care about the two power packs, like me.

In the end, this diorama was a big bench test for me. I plan to use more of those lighting sources in the next dioramas and in the book nooks, so i used this diorama as a test for future designs. It may not be perfect, but i did my best to make a clean and easy-to-build design.

As always, make some dry fit check (without glue) at each step, to see how the parts are assembled together.

If you have any kind of problem with this project, again feel free to send me a private message.

FINAL NOTE: The trash cans are from the Donut Shop diorama.

Sorry for the long post!

Have fun folks! Hope you like it!Pascal

Another great model. Like always I looked through the photos before reading and immediately wanted to ask about the lighting so, thank you for sharing the details about that. I can't wait to see what you have in store for future models using these techniques.

Nekuian

Thanks my friend! 😊 For sure, these new types of lighting will bring another dimension to the diorama and the book nooks. It took me a bit of time to figure everything out, but now that i know, i will try to incorporate more and more in my future designs. One of the thing i hated the most with the led strips, was the "dot effect" of the lighting. With the COB led strip, its now perfectly uniform and the lighting looks more real than ever.

PA1 MAKER

Hello Shawn. Look at the included pdf file, you have all of them! 😊

Thank you very much Jacqueline! 😊

Thanks a lot Adam! Glad you like the final result!!! 😊

I agree, the cob leds are so much better for back lighting. Thats what I used on your Halloween and Christmas shadow boxes, and they turned out fantastic. Keep up the good work.
