Hello again, friends!

Patreon recently sent me a proposal regarding a new platform model they're developing.

I'm seriously considering being a tester, but first, I wanted to get your opinion because this wonderful adventure doesn't just involve me.

Basically, they want to change the look of the home pages, to create a more useful and defined format.

Rather than arriving on my page and seeing the news feed like you currently do, Patreon wants to divide the page into several categories on different "shelves."

Basically, a shelf is a grouping of several posts of the same type.

So, rather than seeing a continuous feed in chronological order like now, you would be able to see various groupings to choose from, such as:

-Latest posts

-Recent posts

-Collections (partial)

-Popular posts

-All Collections

And some others.

Eventually, I'll be able to customize these shelves with content of my choice. This would allow me to add sections for "tips and tricks," "links and passwords," "important info," etc.

So, when you arrive on my page, you'll have several visual references to different types of groupings, which I believe would greatly help navigation through my projects.

VERY IMPORTANT: If I move forward, the new feature will only be accessible to HALF of my users at first. Once the system is developed, Patreon will implement it permanently for everyone, but for the testing period (a few months), only 50% of my users will see the new platform.

What do you think, my friends? Is it worth trying or not, in your opinion? More clarity in all the posts here wouldn't hurt, in my opinion, but I'm waiting for your opinion on whether we proceed or not!

Go ahead, the comments are open!

I would be good with it.

Jrod629

I'm all for it. One reason I jump ship to any platform such as thangs as soon as a creator allows for it is because I hate the layout/organization (or lack there of) of patreon

Jennifer Ledbetter

I’m a newish subscriber, but I like the idea of things being organized kind of by category. I’d say try it.

Kenai

I say go for it!

stacyela

Never bad to at least try something new and see how it fits.

Chris Read

I think it's a great idea!

Kim Siegel

I think it would be a good test to see if organizing the front page will make it easier for users, especially new comers to your patreon to see many things you have to offer not just your latest post.

Andrew Smith

I'm fine with it, but If they aren't giving you anything and it could potentially have bugs for people, I probably wouldn't do it myself. I typically don't test things for free.

Tina Brownfield

I think it's a great idea. More platforms and more to choose from. I say YES!

ADHD Laser Focused LLC

Sounds like it's coming either way - giving it a shot as a tester just gives you more to prepare for it. I'd say go for it!

Ben

It sounds interesting, but having an inconsistent experience for your clients, sounds risky. If something were to happen potentially half your clients might have issues. Then there is the issue of support, where there are two different user interfaces/experiences that need to be understood. Sounds risky IMO, where clients might get frustrated if they have trouble with the new system. Just my $.02

Elle

Might as well. I’m totally not a fan of their current feed style, so maybe the new style could be better?

Blazingale

I'm always up to try a new UI layout! It sounds like it would be easier to navigate from our end and easier to organize from your end. Win-win all around!

Lori

Evolve or get left behind…. Let’s do this!

Brad M

Do what you want. Just make sure it makes your life easier ☺️

Pascal

Oui va y

Sarah Beauchamp

That sounds like it would be much easier to navigate, I say go for it.

Jim

Sounds good to me. It would be nice to search for specific things by thumbnails if possible

Darren Gerbrandt

if it makes things easier then why not but you won't know unless you try 🤔

Jerry Martin

All for the change. Go for it.

Jedi Mickey

Sounds good! Seems like it would be easier to find everything.

Watkins 3D Creations & More

Yes please, I think the current layout is dated and could use a good update with more intuitive navigating and sections yea for sure. It feels like old Myspace scrolling.

CK

Yes try it!

T G

I'm good with that!

Kim Morris

Yes! Would love to see what they have up their sleeve for improvements to the current feeds. ☺️

T G

Go for it!

Katlin Donnelly

I think it's a great idea. I think having more options right on the home page rather than scrolling and/or searching would be very helpful.

Matt

Seems like a good improvement

Jesse Fabbro

I think as long as we still get an email notification when you post new stuff I'm fine with it.

Doug

I would be happy to be part of the 50%

Darknynja

I think it sounds very promising. I'm glad to hear Patreon is trying to improve the platform for all of us. I'd say go for it. I hope to be in the first group to experience the new format.

Dr. J B

I’m game. Sounds good!

Linda

Who would be included in the 50%?

Stefano Gallarini

Good thing. To be precise: 50% have access to the new platform and 50% see the old one or 50% have not access at all to your works? 🤔

dkev

It would make it easier to find the things I am looking for on your feed.

Paul G

50% new, 50% old, everyone has access to all content. It's called A/B Testing and is a common practice in web development (and other fields like marketing). Users are distributed into the two buckets, often randomly but sometimes intentionally. For example, let's say you have a site and are trying to increase engagement. You might subdivide your users into groups based on their engagement level and then split those subgroups evenly between the A and B buckets.

binprint

I m interested to test new patreon

Paul G

Do it and pray they don't turn Patreon into MyMiniFactory because that site is miserable to navigate!

Alain ZITTER

bonjour , il faut tenter l'aventure !!

Franck Marcot

Since I would be disappointed not to have access to your files, will it be possible for those who don't have access to the new platform to continue on the current platform and thus still be able to enjoy your files? Sincerely, Franck Marcot "papy's3d"

Foxy89

Oui cela pourrais être intéressant il faudrais voir comment cela se présente

Lanifou

Bonjour oui il faut tenter l'aventure

Alberto

I like the idea, please count with me if possible to test it :)

Fred Logue

This sounds like a great idea and a good change.

Auver3D

Hello, it's a good idea because I don't find the threads on this platform very organized. I am ok to be part of the 50% who will have access at first ;)

Mark Mitchell

The biggest problem I have with all the patterns I’ve used is actually discovering models etc. thus sounds like a great change.

Kelley G

Like it the way it is

Sharon Devereux

I think it's a good idea. I've always thought it could be improved. I'm happy to be involved if you are looking for volunteers.

Joanne LeBlue

I like it the way it is. But, when I left high school electric typewriters were new technology. I prefer things to be as simple as possible

annie jalbert

Allô pour ma part j' essayerais, moins de déroulement pour voir des modèles précédents par exemple, PS très beaux modèles, bravo

Kevin Kerr

Sounds helpful. I’m in

Patrick Hagle

This sounds like an a great opportunity for a much needed change to Patreon. If I could be part of the 50%, i would love to help provide some feed back on it.

Clon Ahmon

I think, Patreon wouldn't change their plans just because of one designer and his fans are not finding it helpful, so yes, I am in too....It will come anyway one way or the other

Over The Hill

As a 30+ year tech consultant I'd advise against being a beta tester in this program. Let someone else find the bugs. Once it's past validation and beta, even then wait a month or two. You will get all the benefits of the new system once they've worked it out. Being the first to adopt a new developing product is called being on the bleeding edge for a reason...

RickyMac

Has possibilities, but also sounds like it could complicate this for some. Not necessarily a fan of the idea

katie

I think it's a good idea maybe easier to find posts

Lutz

hmmm, also ich würde es machen. Versuch macht klug. Aber dann sollte man die anderen 50 % für die Zeit vom Beitrag befreien.

ByFalslund

Let’s give it a try ❤️

Guy Bruchstein

So either way it sounds like this will happen eventually so why not be a tester

Rachel Eryn

Personally I am fine with whatever choice you make. Patreon is not perfect now and designers all have different set ups so the change is not an issue as long as it is beneficial to you.

ChubbyVerse BY Made By An Adams

I am fine with it. Since it sounds like it will eventually be how it will look anyway why not get a jump start on it and learn the ins and outs of it now.

Adam Jones

Go for it!! I've always been up for new adventures and learning opportunities, and I believe you may feel the same as well!!

Victoria Vivar

I would personally love that actually. It's quite time consuming and sometimes frustrating having to scroll through for several minutes to reach your earlier model posts, so having sections that you can just jump to, to get to them would be great! So if it's something you're wanting to test, I'd say go for it! : )

Brandon

Don't they all ready kind of have a section that seperates post and pictures into categories? I might be wrong though. I just wish dropbox would quit asking me to install every time I download something from you.

Robson Conegero

Let’s give it a try. innovation is always welcome

Wacky McLovin

As someone who runs a lot of Alpha and Beta tests with customer-facing users in the tech space, I’d say, go for it. Especially if the impacted group is mostly long-time members or people who’ve been around the brand for a while. They typically understand the flow and know how to get a hold of you if something isn’t working right. That said, I would suggest clarifying whether the 50% impacted users are primarily veteran/seasoned members or if that group will also include newer members. The reason I call that out is to make sure you’re thinking about how this might impact the experience of folks who are brand new to your page. If new members are part of this group, it might be worth putting together a quick walkthrough or onboarding note to help them access your content easily and avoid any confusion that could affect their experience with your brand. Always happy to help if you want to workshop messaging or a rollout plan!

Kevin

I love beta testing whenever I get the chance (except public betas - no go on those!)! Do it!

anie

Go for it

PawProducts.uk

Without change there can be no development, go for it.

Five10 Creations

I agree with Scott. Being a beta tester can have dire consequences. Also, is Patreon offering you any compensation for this? There could be set backs and you and your Patreon contributors pay the price. That is my 2 cents.

Eduardo Correia

Go for it. We will figure out how to use the new webpage. 😂😂😂😂😂

Katherine Lord

Yes I would love to be part of that. Patreon is not the most user friendly platform so this may be a welcome enchancement

Mattis Matters and More

So far If what I'm seeing with the collection reorganization... its looking great!

Sami Gale

Love this idea! I find Patreons format kinda hard to find things so this sounds great.

Mrstrikerace

I like it the way it is but that's just me I guess. Too many other forks in the road and you miss out.

Michele

I like the idea...sometimes I have a hard time navigating the Patreon site.

alsaro

Yes, do it

Claude A. Cloutier

Yes it would make it easier to navigate, 100% support

Alan Kilgore

Do it. Patreon has needed a refresh for some time.

Gary Rice

I think it is worth a try....

Jojo718

I would try it out! I think Patreon can definitely use a reboot, it hasn’t been the most user friendly. Do it 😊

silver_21

I think is better to have your sait with Wordpress… and with plugin to have your subscriptions .. for down from your photo to have and the download..

RB

I do like it the way it is now (and I hate change!) but I can adapt. Especially if it is better! So my vote is yes.
